    LOVE this format! We don't need to watch dice all day. I wouldn't mind a super-quick, one-sentence overview of each activation (butcher charged demo man and killed him, gunner activates the objective and shoots at warrior, etc.), but I liked hearing reactions and follow up a lot. Good work trying to shake up the current trends of battle reports.

    I think this would be my ideal format. I really like what Glass did here, as the format is very compact and holds my attention better than a bunch of whiffed dice rolls and first turn moving into position/playing with measuring devices- but having the key dice rolls and what not would be ideal.

    Post-game discussion was the highlight here. Anyone can play a game and show what happend, but your experience about why it happened and what could be different is what makes this super unique and engaging content. I'm not opposed to the format itself. Nice to keep the action somewhat short and fit in a discussion all under 30 minues. I will agree with others that it was hard to tell what was going on. The camera on the laptop was poor quality and focused on coke bottles in the background, not the board. Getting better quality there and shwoing more of the board would help. Spending a couple minutes showing the board (with the laptop cam or overhead) and giving a solid overview of the results of the turn would be helpful. By solid overview I just mean general movements (highlighting every units move is unnecessary I think) and pointing out who controls and scored each point would go a long way to providing a better picture of the battle. Love the channel, hope this was helpful.

    I've mentioned it elsewhere, but I agree that there were technical issues that need work. The potato cam was due to my real cam refusing to connect and felt it was better than no player cam at all. I'm adamantly against calling out every single movement, but from the way I've edited the footage in the next video, it seems that's what I'm doing, but we'll see what I do with the VO there.

    Actually really enjoy you are trying something different. It would have been nice If the camera was a bit slower, maybe having a camera show the dice rolls and taking some more time with the turning points. But honestly, I really like that you managed to compress It to just around 26 minutes and gave such focus to the discussion between turns and at the end.

    Camera placement is my bad, my real camera didn't work so had to use a backup one (hence the potato). Likewise the talking cam should have showed the board. Reason I ask is because I've seen sources suggest games can be as little as 45 minutes .. but I reckon me and a friend are at like 30 - 45mins per round ha! In honesty I found it really hard to keep up with which models are going where, and why, with the top down - and side angle was too high above the board so didn’t see what was happening there… would maybe have a 45 degree aerial view so we can see which models are being moved. Playontabletop do these really well and might be a good format to apply xx

    Really enjoyed the analysis. Dont be afraid of letting your BatReps be good and long. I like a good batrep and I'll watch a solid 90 minute video, no worries. I'm sure most other folks will too. Re: the Legionaries, I know most of their cool new units are melee but I think thats a bit of a trap. Maybe pick one or two guys to be a big melee push but you gotta invest in range, esp against a horde army. Taking plasma is a bit overkill into guard (you'll do what, 12-14 dmg against a 7 health model?) when you could take a heavy bolter and get malicious volleys... esp when you also get one 5+ crit? better odds on piercing trigger. Mutability and change lets you get a move, both shooting attacks and a dash off to keep them safe? And I know noone wants to take an icon bearer but it gives you a second Favored By The Dark Gods, which means a free 4+ invuln for your ranged operatives, making em a bit tougher should you leave them out. Also a second bolter for malicious volleys. All melee is just so hard to do, I'm not sure its the play. I think you just get picky about which 2-3 melee models you bring depending on the opponent/mission.

  • @fransaacs

    @fransaacs

    2 жыл бұрын

    Other than a heavy bolter and an icon barer with boltgun (why not? More malicious volleys) which other operatives would you favor for this kind of match-up? Vet guard is a popular choice atm.

  • @ChopsTV

    @ChopsTV

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@fransaacs with the caveat that I play Deathwatch (and not chaos) into Vet guard but I do so fairly frequently... I get the most success out of 5 ranged operative and a melee sergeant to push. But thats with Deathwatch having access to Storm Bolters (relentless rules) and a storm shield . I think, looking at the Legionaries team, that you run Butcher (you get re-rolls so hitting on 4 aint too bad) and the anointed, with the Chosen as your leader then Heavy gunner w/ bolter, icon bearer, and acolyte. It's just one more ranged guy than Glass ran, but I think its worth it. 3 guys with a 4+ invuln! Pack the melee guys with as many grenades as you can afford. With malicious volleys, that gives you two more shooting attacks and potentially another overwatch per turn. The controversial(!) choice is replacing the anointed with a regular bolter warrior! The Anointed is just there to kill. But I cant imagine it gets more than 2 kills before it gets got. If you're playing on a map/mission where you think a bolter might take a few more bodies (or wound enough to set up more kills), choose that. It's a tough match up. Youre out activated, out APL'd, and out wounded from the jump. I dont think there's a "great" choice. Just a handful of good ones.
