k-os On George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight: EXTENDED INTERVIEW

Ойын-сауық

www.cbc.ca/strombo/
So Kevin Brereton, aka k-os, was in the red chair to talk about his new double album, 'BLack on BLonde', recording at Hayden Christensen's mansion, and some of the artists he collaborated with for the new record (hint: one of them's George!).
But we couldn't fit all the awesome into the interview that went to air, so here's the complete and uncut chat, featuring some Drake talk, a little cameo from Sarah Harmer, k-os discussing Fred Penner and 'The Cat Came Back', and some discussion about what it was like to play hockey as a young black man in Ontario.
George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight airs Weeknights at 7 PM on CBC Television

    Love K-os. I like how he came in with the low hand to do a traditional handshake. I do the same to avoid a hand cluster that you're just not sure when to end.

    Did you listen to Yes! ? That was the best album of that year imo and Black on Blonde was underrated also. He's been making good music for awhile. Hope his new project is just as good.

    +Hobomedic1 Yes! is his last amazing album. BLack on BLonde has some cool songs, but a fair amount of filler. Can't Fly Without Gravity is fun, but not particularly memorable. I think k-os' first 4 albums are classics, man. Give Yes! a chance.

    Yeah I agree, Atlantis was his last truly classic album. Yes! has it's moments but doesn't really stand up to his first three albums. Black in Blonde was just two albums of filler and his new album has some cool tracks but not really that memorable.

    Awesome reference of truth to RPM being the original name of The Guvernment nightclub in Toronto (hailed just before The OZ). Such a crazy change to house music go'ers nowadays.

    Um ... the definition of musician(s) is a person who plays an instrument ... not a varied range of instruments. So again a musician knows not just how to play, but can adapt to play the particular instrument well. Although a Violin and a Guitar are both technically string instruments their played completely different. You can take a bow from a viola/violin on a guitar which'll show off your musician skills as a guitarist (Steve Vai Whitesnake album recording) but doesn't mean u can play violin.

  • @thecharleston1

    perfectionists would rather not play than do dis-justice to their work. or he was trying to play hard to get and it didn't work.

  • @eladbari

    Nice interview but why can't he play the guitar if hes a musician?

  • @eladbari
    @eladbari10 жыл бұрын

    that's exactly it. musicians are Not "guitarists". If you hand a guitar to a violinist- then he wont know how to play on it. But if you hand out a guitar to a Musician- then hell be able to make sweet sounds out of it...and many other instruments. An acoustic guitar- being the most basic one. So...

    Who sais being a musician you need to play just one instrument or the guitar?? Are you ignorant to musical instruments??

  • @YouAre256ColoursToo
    @YouAre256ColoursToo11 жыл бұрын

    super ignorant. in the 50's, 60's, probably even today there were classical musicians asking the same thing of rock stars. "that's not music, why can't they play real instruments." "no talent!", etc. musicians are musicians because they make music. hip-hop is music. musicians are not musicians because they play guitar.
