All these women saying she looks older than her age are exactly why women tend to hate each other. You complain about men judging you only for your looks, but you do the same thing to other women. STOP IT!

Indira Geer Vincent Cuttolo 1. She does not look really old for her age. 2. What frigging difference does it make? You express the exact sentiment to which Stephanie King-Morson is alluding. People have more value than how they look, as a matter of fact, how you look is way down on the list of qualities that make you valuable. And if you don't know that yet, you are going to have a really difficult time aging. No matter what you do, you will never be able to compete with, nor have equal value with, those who are younger than you because you value something you can never hold on to. How someone "looks for their age" is not worth mentioning.

So she's not dolling herself up with tons of makeup and hiding behind a mask. So she's not obsessing over having to have her teeth that "fake" white that everybody has to have. If she's happy embracing her 50s as a natural woman then I'm happy for her. I just turned 49 and I'm sick and tired of feeling like I have to be ashamed of my teeth because they are a tad bit yellow or feeling like I have to flat iron my naturally curly hair cause everyone has straight shiny hair. Enough already! I'm tired of all the maintenance. I'm leaving my hair Curley and walking around with a huge smile!

That’s right! Embrace yourself! I started experiencing hair loss a few years ago and decided to just cut it off instead of opting for wigs and weaves and treatments. After that I stopped wearing makeup almost completely, with the exception of lipstick/lipgloss sometimes. I’ve never felt more beautiful. That’s me embracing myself. I can’t stand this current plastic surgery/celebrity obsessed climate that thinks everything is about nipping and tucking and fixing something to be happy with one’s self. So incredibly superficial and shallow society has become. And they’re never happy, they keep finding something else to fix. All of these comments saying she looks old are really disgusting. What about looking past her looks to her character and focusing of the content of what she’s saying and the message she’s sharing with the world. There’s much more to a person than their looks.

I agree with you. I think it's pretty sad that the first thing I thought after seeing her, was how she looks much older than she is. Secondly, I thought she seems very level headed, and down-to-earth. Why didn't I solely think of the latter though? Simple. I, like everyone else, am a product of my environment - which happens to be America, the most image-obsessed country in the world. Since it's creation, television has almost only shown us images of perfection (excluding the news...though I'm sure they even choose the more optically pleasing person, when possible.). These are the most successful people in our eyes. They have ridiculously large amounts of money, which seem to afford them whatever they desire. And they have the admiration of the masses, which equals respect. When added together, they have what looks to be ultimate power. And any human being who denies their attraction to power, either doesn't understand the basics of their humanity, or is simply lying. But back to the point...we see these images and equate them with power. And regardless of what they're saying or doing, the commonality between them is their image...an image of perfection. So, though it's unfortunate, it only makes sense that how someone, or something looks is of primary interest and importance to us. It's what we're subconsciously taught to value as children. To me, the crazy, nonsensical part is that once we become adults and conscious of what has established our value system, it's still very difficult to change it. It would seem that simply knowing the error of ones was would be enough to create change. But, evidently it isn't. Who knows though!?! Maybe one day, after a complete rearrangement of society, we'll have evolved into beings of higher intelligence...where we value things that actually measure the quality of each other's character...maybe. Sadly enough though, I'm quite sure I won't be around to experience it.

Well, I agree, in part. But the cold reality is in the business of acting in Hollywood looks matter and in particular youthful looks. Young and good-looking sells movies. Movies are mostly about selling a fantasy. Moviegoers want to see really beautiful people. I mean, it is a business and it's all about image. As you lose your looks to age you start losing parts and are replaced by someone younger.

Justine Bateman is one of my favorite all time actors! She is so professional yet so humble & down to earth. Her brother Jason is one of my favorite actors as well, he appears that way to me also. They were definitely were raised the right which made them great human beings & actors! Wish more actors were like them! Btw, she looks as gorgeous as she always does!

My mom tried to get me into the movie business when I was young but I hated all the people that I met as so sleezy. But I wish Justine would go on the lecture circuit to talk to young people who think it's so wonderful to be in movies.

She had an eating disorder for years and struggled. That definitely takes it toll on your body internally and externally (her skin). She’s in recovery now but it’s obviously aged her.

I would love a reunion show. Alex can bring his current wife who played Ellen and Nick and Mallory can be married. Jennifer can be a teacher or business woman and of course the parents would totally hate Trump 😃😃, OMG you guys got me wishing they would do this.

Beautifully spoken Justine. We as a society need more of this kind of wisdom.🙏. I just ordered book after watching this. I always wanted to bring this message, but I have not experienced fame personally. I have lost people I have loved to this life. Thanks for being the messenger. I have always rode the fence about my feelings of fame, some days I hate it, some days it can be exciting. Thanks for forming the words I always had trouble saying.

I've always been impressed by her. True beauty, style, intelligence and how she presents herself over all is very refreshing. You don't get to see to many people in show business that's quite as raw as she is and that alone is very stunning.

I love the wisdom Justine shares here, especially the part about fans needing to find their own self-worth. We tend to live vicariously through famous people instead of developing our own talents and opportunities. Regarding an actor's fame and the idolization of fans, I think the chasm is unavoidable. A fan is seeing the character that the actor creates more than the actor himself or herself. People who act like someone else, can feel they've lost their own identity when the public clamors to see the character that was never them.

This is an authentic woman. True to herself. Does not succumb to the pressure of having surgery. The most disappointing part is reading others women's comments on here, suggesting she is looking old. Women who make such comments are a big part of the problem. Their inability to empower another woman shows just how they struggle with their own authenticity.
