She was t herself she was A hidden lesbian who couldn’t be who she was they say she never wore makeup was very masculine and wore very short hair and when she went to studios they dolled her up making her look more feminine then Hollywood ties her up with Spencer Tracy which they were not really a couple she liked women so really how much was she her true self ? They wouldn’t allow it

Melissa takes good care of herself and she is in good shape and should be seen more and back on television. She looks great to me, she just has a wonderful way about herself.

Yes extremely sad when people change to please the public. She used to be very pretty but then she looked weird after all her crap she did. I am glad she is now not doing anything more and has removed her fake boobs.

It's so weird, I can see she's aged...but she's forever young to me? Like even with wrinkles & gray she's forever Laura Ingalls, young Laura Ingalls.

I have been watching Melissa my whole life. I'm almost 46 and I am happy to hear that she is gonna age naturally because most of us ladies will have to or at least I know I will. Choosing between Botox and fillers vs. getting groceries and paying bills is what it would boil down to for me. I had skin cancer removed from my nose and skin grafted so I'm already self conscious of my scaring . I will say though if I could afford it I would have Botox between my eyebrows because that is where the skin was grafted from and I always feel like I'm frowning or that I look angry . We all Have things we wish were different about ourselves but what it boils down to for me is the kind of person I am on the inside (my spirt ... my soul) I always try to be a good person .

Good for you. Just don't forget to moisturize. That is OK. I am 73, and like Melissa, surgeries have taken their toll, but my face, neck, and chest are still relatively unwrinkled. I've used Vaseline for 45 years (plus other stuff now). No, I don't look 40, but skin health is extremely important as our first defense against disease. Back to Melissa, I knew when she was a child that she would be a beauty; who could not know. I watched her TV career with interest thereafter. She has done well for herself and is a good actor. While I loved the red hair, as a now grey red head myself, I love her beautiful natural look as well. Doesn't she look great, healthy, and happy?

Some people overdo it because they have a lot of money. I only have enough for one syringe so I look good and not overdone.

I used to watch the show when I was a little girl, every day after school never lost an episode! I loved her character so much!

Everytime I see Melissa, it's like I'm instantaneously teleported in the past, back in my elementary years. I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie. So seeing her gives me mixed emotions. I get a little happy, sad, nostalgic.......and I can't help thinking what and how life used to be --- simple, everyone's young and energetic, I usually come home from school to a full of life family.......... I really missed those years and I treasure them so much. ♥♥♥

WTG Melissa! I'm only 2 years younger than Melissa, and feel like I've grown up right along w/ her through Little House and her many TV and TV movie roles. It's great that's she's come to a place in her life that she can love and accept herself for the beautiful person (inside and out) that she is. It's a life lesson for all of us!

Melissa, always be true to yourself. Never again lose yourself to something that is so unreal.

I THINK SHE'S GORGEOUS.

in my early 60s I had both hips replaced. These were the only surgeries I have had. I cannot imagine having surgery just for vanity unless a true deformity exists. I am so proud of Melissa for saying no more! It is the beauty from within that counts the most. I love what the Bible says " Beauty is vain, charm is deceitful, but the woman who trusts in the Lord shall be praised above them all. Wow, that is so freeing to me!

Just think if plastic surgery, fillers, botox, etc. didn't exist.... Wonder how everyone would 'really' look. Would be quite interesting...

It's very comforting to watch shows like Little house and the Walton's.

As a fan of Ms. Gilbert, I was disappointed that she never came out against the backlash levelled on Laura Ingalls Wilder in 2018 for some so-called racial slurs from her Little House books. It was a different time period. Ms. Wilder lived through the American Indian Wars. Ms. Wilder should be honored for contributions to American Literature and her award should be reinstated.

Please. She’s an actress and it was a job. I’m sure shes expected to talk about the job she held as a teenager way more than you’d ever talk about the one you had when you were 17. Do you put on your old Dairy Queen visor every time there’s an undercooked patty somewhere in town? She has done way more than her share of press junkets and talk shows for Little House. She portrayed the author as a girl and then a teenager. She didn’t write the books. She isn’t Laura. She’s an actress.

Great interviewer, unpretentious and real. I hope she stays true to herself, she is great.

She really seems like a genuine person. A breath of fresh air in Hollywood!

So proud to be her age and hear how she's contributed her authenticity, traits and talent.

I'm so glad Melissa got rid of her breast implants. They are not good for women. I'v heard a lot of disaster stories about breast implants.

When “Little House” first came on tv, I was pregnant with my first child. But, even as an adult, I loved her show. I envied the childhood that “Laura” had. Even though I was very happily married, I had a beast of a father. I envied her having such an amazing father, even though it was on tv. You rock, Melissa!

We just bought the box set of Little House on the Prairie a couple weeks ago and are already into the 3rd Season now!! So excited to get more and more into it!! Love all the actors and actresses!! I’ve never dyed my hair in my life!! Love Melissa Gilbert totally! 👏👏👏👏

I don’t think it’s so much her plastic surgery.... it’s more of a makeup/hairstyle/ wardrobe thing. A nice nude lipstick, easy on the blush, younger hairstyle, jeans, graphic tee with a chill faux leather pink moto jacket, a nice pair of open toe heels.😘👌

Yikes- Y'all will buy anything. She decided to go natural right after the work last done to her cheeks and jaw. You can't pull on the forehead the same way. She is full of botox too and uses e/t she can. She has pancake make-up on so all those who say age does not matter can say how great she looks for her age. She is just referring to not going 'full Cher' or even the thing formerly known as Kidman.

@@grational funny you brought up Nicole Kidman; last night I saw her in a commercial for Oil of Olay and I kept thinking how ironic it was because she gets botox, fillers, lasers and chemical peels all the time! If a reputable cosmetic company such as Oil of Olay really wants to sell their products, it would be more convincing to actually use a real person, not an actor whose has so much done to her face she's unrecognizable!

Diane Hughes It's sad b/c she has a natural beauty and structure that would let her age well. She was aging well. Little modifications like modest Botox, are Ok. I know women who do so only b/c I have been told. But I see women who look bloated every cycle. TV as well - Natalie Pinkham on F1 Sky. It is a shame. It's a spectrum but to many of these people just look unnatural. We all understand the disproportionate demands of women to adhere to standards (their own, others incl. other women that's embedded in culture and commercially supported) I've aged and I get less looks ( a guy I assume you know), but you have to really take care of yourself in mind, body, diet, and routine and not base you expectations on media. You can see the difference, and feel it within. That was longer than I expected.

I like that Melissa Gilbert speaks openly about her feelings about the way Hollywood and society places on women to look good. I am 51 and I am seeing the changes in my body and my face. I am no longer slim as I was when I was 31 and had thick long hair and now it has thinned out and I do feel a little uncomfortable when I go out in the public, but I will learn to accept myself the way I am and this was a good commentary from Melissa Gilbert, so I will just learn from what she said. All of the comments on this board are great to read, so Bless you all for your comments.

God bless her.....she's taking control of her life. And God bless her wonderful hubby and their marriage. His supportive love for Melissa most likely also contributes to her strength and comfort in "going rogue" in Hollyweird. Love her! :)

Thank goodness I saw this. I’m almost ages with Melissa and I’ve loved her all my life. I love that she’s growing old gracefully. I’m trying to also. It doesn’t mean we’ve let ourselves go people. It’s all natural as it should be. And healthier. Go Melissa Go!!!💕💕💕

She is very well spoken. Beautiful and delightful. She is loving herself and won’t fall into a trap of trying so hard to look perfect. I think you get to an age where you just want good health and be happy. I just admire her and her many years in the business, not an easy job. She is amazing.

Never knew she had that much plastic surgeries to try and look more pretty in her mid twenties. Loved her red hair on little house when it was long she was just a prairie girl She had a good body then like she said from being active. Its good that she just Gonna be her nateral self and age.

Melissa looks freaking amazing! I love that she's taking a natural approach to aging and doing it sooooo well!

Thank you MELISSA. You were so transparent with your past struggles. I am sure your effort here helped many Girls around the world who watched this realise that nobody should go through body shaming...and not to bow to to any pressure from anyone to alter their body.

Megyn looks terrific (though black is too severe for daytime TV), and Melissa looks good, too. Megyn could certainly pass for her thirties, and Melissa looks her age so yeah, I agree with you.

Late to this but I absolutely loved this interview. Little House was my favorite show growing up and now I'm re-watching all of it while I quarantine. I adore Melissa and her transparency in this interview. Her hair looks fabulous. Now that I would do one day if I get the courage to show my grays.

Melissa Gilbert.....she and her "Little House" family were such an integral part of my childhood❤; I Love her so much! I read Melissa Gilbert’s book she is a real down to earth person and I am glad she is doing her own thing and living her life her way- she has had many struggles and has come out on top she is a great role model in general and I wish her much success in her future and btw I love her hair natural is always best!! Good for her!!

Everyone making comments about plastic surgery. Why do YOU care so much about what someone does with their body? That negativity is exactly why women feel pressured to look a certain way. Why are women so mean to each other? We all struggle with the same issues. I am almost 6ft tall and thin with a big chest and a small waist and i get accused of having some type of plastic surgery just about everyday from a female with low self esteem and its very sad. I wish we could just support each other. I tell women everyday that theyre beautiful.

I'm glad to finally get to see this interview, it was preempted in my timezone. If she doesn't feel badly about her hair turning gray then maybe I will finally not feel so bad about mine turning gray either! I have seen her several times over the years during her 'Little House' days and she seemed very down to earth even back then. I'm glad she's not letting anything or anyone change her. I watch this, maybe the makeup or mannerisms, I can see her playing Laura Bush as an actress from interviews I saw of the former First Lady. I’ve always been a fan of Melissa. Very well spoken!

In my thumbnail pic, I am 49. As of Feb, I am 50. My gray is only now visible in direct sunlight. I am still deciding if I want to color it. I do know, I will never touch my face or body with any cosmetic injections or surgery.

Kudos to Melissa Gilbert!! I'm 52, have had a mastectomy due to breast cancer four years ago, and have not had anything coametic done to "replace" my left breast, nor do I really want to. The idea of something unnatural, synthetic like that on my body, makes me feel totally uncomfortable. I even hate to wear nail polish!!

Beautiful as ever Melissa!

Oddly, it is somewhat of a relief for me to hear her acknowledge her nose job. It was obvious when she did it but it was at a time when most people didn't admit to getting work done. It kind of made me sad that she felt the need to do it as she was already beautiful with her 'natural' nose. The fact that so much pressure was placed on her and other actors to look a certain way is extremely maddening. I'm so glad that she has gotten to a place of self-acceptance and that she has made a conscious choice to embrace her natural beauty. Personally, I think that her desire to be authentic and her newfound stance against cosmetic procedures only enhances her obvious beauty. Kudos Melissa Gilbert! I'm so happy for you
