Justine Bateman Talks Her Latest Book, "Fame: The Hijacking of Reality"

Ойын-сауық

Mining decades of experience, writer, director, producer, and actress Justine Bateman writes a visceral, intimate look at the experience of fame. Combining the internal reality-shift of the famous, theories on the public's behavior at each stage of a famous person's career, and the experiences of other famous performers, Bateman takes the reader inside and outside the emotions of Fame. The book, "Fame: The Hijacking of Reality," includes twenty-four color photographs to highlight her analysis.

"When you see my face you know what you are going to get. Complex and Interesting" I never thought about someone who looks older to be complex and interesting. Maybe wiser. I really like to have this new perspective. Thanks JB!

I’m reading the book now. I liked Family Ties back in the 80s, but I was never the ultimate fan. I will say that her style of writing is so that you just kind of feel what she’s taking you through. And it’s not always pretty, even for her as she is writing. Like I said I was never the ultimate fan, but I am a fan now. And I can’t wait for the next book! I am female in my later 50s. That in itself is a process because you feel a certain way, and when you look in the mirror it kind of jolts you because your looks may not match how you feel. And also the way people look at you… I work with a lot of younger women. I relate with them very easily, but it is just understood by all that I am the older person in the room. Listening to Justine’s unique perspective actually helps me feel more at home with how the outer shell looks, vs. the inner self feels. If that makes any sense at all. Thank you, Justine! Huge thank you!

What a cool and smart mature woman. It's great to see more female directors in the industry. She's a real game changer . American society is so obsessed with celebrity culture they elected one for a President.Sad.

I think to a certain extent this idea of not expecting others to change but needing to encounter those situations and remove the button, as she puts it, that can be applied to so many situations in everyone's life. If we would all make an attempt to heal by sitting with our triggers we would each evolve in our own way and we would all be better for it.

Gee whiz, can't you folks @ Build invest in a pair of radio mics for your presenter and guests? You have a nicely built set that's well lit and an affable presenter hosting the program but if I was a guest on your show, that'd really annoy me having to hold a clunky microphone for 30mins.

  • @SC-uq2jf

Actually, if you look at the mic, it's actually advertising the name of the show "Build"....I don't believe it was a "cost" issue...I believe it's a 'branding' tool...That 'clunky' microphone is equivalent to McDonald's 'Golden Arches', You are immediately stopping at Mickey D's if you are too hungry to cook....You are immediately stopping at this 'Build' KZread channel because of the quality of cogent, intelligent interviews, you see that mic and you know this is not going to be pablum.

she says in her book that this type of look (European look) is what she has always wanted. This is on purpose. Having said that as a 46 year old myself - close to her age - I am able to keep a more 'maintained' look, simply because I want to. She is more interesting and have a lot to say - focusing on her look is a joke.

Even when I watched her as a kid on Family Ties I found her interesting. She was very pretty but there was also something strong and piercing in her eyes. She sort of held the whole thing in contempt somehow. I actually hated that show, I watched it just for her, for that witchy look in her eyes.

I named my daughter after her character who had the Fonz for a boyfriend. She was a art student.Cute smart edgy Yep she looks older because she is.I think it’s because she disappeared for20 years.Of course she is olderShe’s great Is she Jason Bateman sister?.
