Send Jeffie Bear some money via Chrome...

Grab a long ribbon cut it in half, put each half at both ends to pop out the sides, you can lift the lid off of your freezer easily. Ribbons are thin so, you can be creative with colours and use a little Velcro to stick it to inside top part of freezer lid.

Loctite threadlocker has done me great service keeping bolts tight for me. Just a dab on the end threads locks them in pretty well.

OMG, so cool, after your recent van tour where the woman in the Dodge have that fire lantern I went out and found the same fireplace and several others to have for the same reason! Growing up I had a fireplace in the farmhouse we living in. We also had a fireplace in the townhouse my late husband and I lived in, and it was the one thing I missed when I moved into the van. So now, yeah, I have a fire in my van too! I run it on a ten inch tablet! Such a nice thing to have!!! Because yes, a cup of tea and a fire while reading a book calms me right down too!

I thought about getting a hard-shell carrier like that, but ultimately opted for a well-built soft bag. The bag seems to be a much more versatile space without the same concern for latching problems. The only question is how long it will hold up, but I can go through about 3 or 4 bags for the price of one carrier.

@@NorthernKitty I have/had a soft bag and it worked quite well and held up too on a trip we took years ago. Unfortunately while re-organizing a fabric storage garage yesterday I ran across it and mice have not only chewed 4 small mouse hole in it they have apparently lived in it sometime in the past. Guess it is history now. Ho-hum set more traps today, now up to 9 to check daily(4 out buildings, a cellar, and a camper), small pieces of gum drops work well.

Threadlock is the answer. I use it many vehicle locations, or drill a hole and fit a R clip or split pin to exposed thread. Ive slept in many trucks, I love the sound of the diesel heater, I find it relaxing.

Those 10-hour videos on KZread are awesome to fall asleep with. I flip flop between the fire ones and the ones that are like thunder lightning and heavy weather helps me fall asleep like a baby

I encourage you to consider getting a GPS tracker in your van. Your whole life is in there, and possibly your dog. You can get one hard wired or get a battery operated (don’t forget to keep charged), but can help you and police find your vehicle within minutes if it’s ever taken.

Hey Chrome, you can solve your lid problem by sticking a piece of flat plastic across that grab handle piece (it must just be slightly wider than the current centre section), it will allow your fingers to still go into the recess below and then when pulling upward, it will give your fingers something to latch onto to pull the lid off.

Brother, got an idea for you. Mount your thermometer inside your roof rack carrier on the bottom so it’s protected from the elements. Use a rubber washer so it seals out any moisture. Put lock tight on the loose bolts. It’ll keep them from backing out.

Yes I do this also on my Iphone, on my DVD player and my laptop. Now they even have lanterns with a cracking fire in them. Chrome look that up because you can take it outside when there is a fire ban. Love getting toasty.

A lil tip when using zip ties leave a little bit at the end in case the zip tie loosens they will stretch over time and the cold weather may make the plastic brittle

I absolutely loved that you had a bushcraft book! Bushcraft is my hobby/lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of the world. It’s where I decompress and find my inner peace man. So awesome. I don’t think I have that book, I’ll need to look it up. Check out loctite. One little drop of blue(not permanent) or red(permanent) and your bolts and such won’t get loose without you doing the work.

Also on your lids the little pinch spot I have taken the point of my knife and scratched some grooves in it and it gave maybe more of a grip for pinching. Hope it helps
