Yeah a bit odd. The 1996 jdm has the same bumper the usdm gets. You guys got heaps of ek and eg coupes though they are rare for us, em1 and ej1.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good rd1 reasonably priced for 2 months now in NSW oz so annoying 😂😅

Yeah i tested the system with tap water so if there are any issues with leaks or worse i can just drain it. If you use a coolant distilled mix and fined for whatever reason you need to drain it again it can be a pain in the ass and a waste of money. I drained it after i was sure it was a sealed functioning system and refilled with a proper coolant mix. The kswap crv on the other hand got distilled water and coolant from the get go. Depends how confident i feel its going to be fine 🤷‍♂️🙃😂

Did you reuse the head bolts or install new ones?

Mine didn't look damaged or stretched. the gasket just failed it didn't lift the head under boost pressure etc so i felt confident to re use them.
