Ohh I loved The Nix so much and it's already one of my favourites of all time. I listened to the audio book version too. So great!! Loved Down among the sticks and bones also. Into the water I didn't enjoy as much. lost city of the monkey god sounds really good.

I can't wait to read "Because You Love to Hate Me!" I saw a video where Sam (Thoughts on Tomes) mentioned it and showed the cover. It looks fantastic. Also, really looking forward to read "Down Among the Sticks and Bones." I loved "Every Heart a Doorway"; it ended up being the best book I've read so far this year.

Super excited that you're enjoying WHITE TEETH; family drama plays so well in literary fiction, doesn't it (i.e. The Corrections, Everything I Never Told You and more!)? Saw your big enthusiasm for The Nix and it's a novel I've been meaning to get to. I always need an extra push to start a big book and I think you've just given me that. :) White Teeth is magnificent (I'm a fan of epic family dramas too) and her new novel Swing Time is excellent - I interviewed her about it last year and it's interesting because it's a really personal and nostalgic novel for Smith - but also includes a character based on Madonna!

Your book shelf looks so cool. You've made it look like a little shop. As soon as I finish my 7 years of education, I'm buying something like this..

I read Hunger by Roxane Gay last month! It was so good. I'm currently listening to Gabourey Sidibe's This is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare, and she's hilarious.

wow, Down Among the Stick and Bones sounds very interesting! Your whole pile of Books sound amazing! Your selection of readings also seem original in comparison to other booktubers.

I have ummmed and ahhhhed about The Wayward Children books, I think I may have to dive in. I really have to get to The Nix. I enjoyed Into The Water, I think I liked it more than The Girl on a Train which I was a big fan of. Looking forward to Because You Love To Hate Me.

Now I really want to read The Lost City of the Monkey God. If you haven't read 1491, I definitely suggest it as a companion book!

I read The Nix about a month or so ago and I must agree it is on of my faves reads of all times too. I too keep recommending it to every one. I need a good book I use to only read urban fiction but it became repetitive so I change up and read a book called the unwanted and it was so good it had me crying now I'm looking for something else

Absolutely,i loved the mix of humor and drama and i thought Samuel was a likeable lead character even though a lot of other people didn't lol definitely an impressive novel

in July I'm going to be reading "Homegoing" by Yaa Gyasi as part of the book club I'm in. I'm finishing reading Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon but I dont think I like YA fiction. I find myself reading with a lot less urgency.

Right now I'm reading 12 Years a Slave.I'm also planning on reading Blue Asylum, The Kite Runner, Underground Railroad, and The Space Between Stars.

What significance does "Hoya Saxa" have for this book? Because it's the chant for only two schools in the country, Georgetown and Harrison High School in GA (where I went to high school). So weird to hear it in a totally unexpected place!!
