I decided to put my very hard-earned diploma in animation to use in today's video and give my professional and utterly objective opinion on some of the most well-known and loved book covers, pitting them against one another in a tier-ranking video.
I went through 49 books and ranked them between five different categories depending on how well done I think their cover is. I took into account the various different principles of design, as well as the quality and style of the cover, but also allowed my own opinion and thoughts to shine through.
Of course when watching this video, please keep in mind that we all have different opinions and things we like/don't like and that this video's main purpose is to provide entertainment. If you disagree with my ranking that's completely fine! And you're welcome to discuss it in the comments below in a healthy and constructive manner :)
Also, I would like to bring up the fact that not all the covers I mentioned were made with the same pool of resources, if a book was indie-published, there's a higher chance that the cover may not be as well done or detailed as a book that was traditionally published, as a publishing house usually has far more resources it can use when it comes to the covers and marketing of books. I didn't let whether a book was traditionally published or indie affect the ranking, but it doesn't mean that a book with a "worse" cover is a bad book or that the contents aren't as good.
This video is very surface-level, and I'll reiterate it! Don't judge a book by its cover! 💚
