i think most of the flack colleen hoover gets is due to the romanticizing of abuse and all her very bizarre writing choices, like literally writing “we both laughed at our sons big balls” which was about a literal baby. I think people hating on Colleen Hoover is only mildly because of her writing, and mainly because of her romanticizing and normalizing abuse, misogyny and in general toxic relationships. Especially since she sells her books as romance which then creates a really problematic view on relationships especially since it’s often marketed to a younger audience.

one of the sweetest romances I've ever read was in a cozy fantasy called legends & lattes. I feel like folks who are married and really love their partner write that sort of affection and warmth really well. another fave was in priory of the orange tree, which was epic fantasy!

Same, it’s actually my fave book from the author hahaha. I liked it more than RWRB. Like okay, it might be predictable but what I love most abt the book is the side characters. And maybeee ‘manipulative popular blonde girl’ is like… my thing, so I might be a bit bias here hahaha

lmao i gave it 5 stars too. because i just couldn't stop relating to how queerness & religious trauma & repression was portrayed in the book. i have actually given all cmq books 5 stars because something about the way they write queerness just hits me right in the heart.

I love that he asked who still writes like that after a quote that’s just medium sizzle to me after I just posted a fanfic for today. I was coming on here to busy myself from second guessing as I always do, and I’m like.. bech, me, lol I do! I still write like that. I’ve always written like that. Lol even as a kid. Tbh.. I feel super embarrassed about how I like to write because I don’t want people to feel it’s trying too hard or being pretentious. I just can’t help my romantic side comes out while writing.
