I'm gonna leave my fav book of 2023 as rec because why not? That is 'As long as the lemon trees grow' by Zoulfa Katouh. It's a historical fiction set in Syria. I don't want to say much about the plot because you just need to experience it yourself. It has studio ghibli reference and a shocking plot twist that I didn't see coming. It pierced a hole in my heart. Honestly, I haven't recovered from it yet. Do give it a go but be prepared because it's too heartbreaking.

I have read a lot of your pick, except for The Deavabad trilogy, The Winowing trilogy and Vicious but I do plan too (not Vengeful I swear) ! As for the We Hunt the Flame duology, I am not so sure about wanting to read this one. I mostly agree with your picks. I am a bit more meh about Circe (that I found dull) and The Wolf and the woodsman. I think it needed a bit more work. I do agree that it should have been extended to at least two books : the world was interesting and should have been more fleshed out, the romance needed a slower build and the ending was a bit too fast. "If you think this book is like ACOTAR, it is not. It has a plot" *stares at the camera* 😂😂😂 But yeah loved The Broken Earth trilogy, and The Folk of the air serie, enjoyed The Song of Achilles and The Darker Shades of Magic trilogy. And of course, Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings is my absolute favorite serie ! The second (The Liveship Traders) and third (The Tawny Man) trilogies are even better than The Farseer trilogy ! Also I've just started the Poppy War, I'm going back to it now.
@hannah.celinehart4 ай бұрын
I agree with a lot of your points here, especially the ones regarding The Wolf and The Woodsman- it could've done some really amazing things if it had more space 🤔 I'm so excited to read more Robin Hobb! My boyfriend is currently on the third trilogy, and I've never seen him sob over a book so hard 🙊 I genuinely can't wait to read further in the series, I've heard so so many great things ☺️ And oooh! I hope you enjoy the poppy war! I absolutely loved it, and I'm curious to see what you think about it, so if you ever wanna chat about it, definitely hit me up 🫶
@ellyra4124 ай бұрын
@@hannah.celinehartYeah, at one point the Robin Hobb books just makes you sob constantly. I remember Fool's Errand and Fool's Fate hitting super hard. I finished the Poppy War and really enjoyed it. I was fascinated by the retelling of the sino-japonese war. I ended up rating it a 4 stars because it does have some flaws : the writing being a bit immature in some points and it was difficult for me to connect with Rin because I don't find her very likeable (but are we meant to find her likeable ?) . But I am impatient to read The Dragon Republic !
