My dad sold Maynard an excavator in the early 2000s when he was in the process of completing his vineyard. Didn't even come inspect it all the way in TX, just trusted him about the condition and bought it over the phone. Even sent my older brother some free Tool merch afterwords. Nice guy.

Attention please: To everyone who’s ever wondered, God is real. The Bible is truth. The key that so many miss is in the inner work Jesus Christ laid out. Specifically forgiveness. To be forgiven we must forgive. It’s a mandatory requirement that keeps God at arm’s length until you’ve done it. Specifically forgiving our parents. It’s a secret truth of this universe. Our parents have generally loved us to some degree, feeding raising clothing etc. They are supposed to be the easiest people for anyone to forgive. That’s why it was made the bare minimum stander for us. If there’s love in your heart you forgive. It shows so much love and faith to God. You have to genuinely look inside, process your emotions, and forgive from within your heart. Complete forgiveness is an act of love. No rewards, bribes, or apologies necessary. That’s where all this starts, within your heart. God basically doesn’t care until you’ve paid this mustard seed of faith. After you do this he takes notice. He sets you on a path that will lead you to the true knowledge of him. God is love, and he and the more you show love the more you understand God. Please, before you dismiss me, please consider my words. I don’t share this for no reason. You must forgive. It heals your soul. It will lead you to truth. Please, just do. Also, please read at least three books of the Bible, Genesis Mathew and one you chose yourself. It is so important. Pray to Jesus Christ, break down those walls you’ve built up there, and ask for forgiveness for yourself. We all need it. Both giving and receiving. Please. The Bible is truth. Jesus Christ is the way truth and life. Jesus Christ is Lord

I actually know the area Maynard has his vineyard in on the mountain over looking cottonwood in az. That is a NEAT place. The road is narrow and switch backs across a mountainside nearly as steep as a cliff. And there is this incredible town of almost old West buildings on the "trail". It's one of the nearest looking town's in the u.s.. Every single building is different, thin, and 4 stories. Many ate triangular kind of like the flatbiron building. It's almost hard to describe unless you see it.

@Southern Time the word you're looking for is "they're" as in "they are" not "there". I'm sure that probably wasn't covered in Backwoods Swamp Speak 101 but the rest of us learn that around the 2nd or 3rd grade, sometimes sooner. And yes THEY ARE just people, just people who have amassed millions upon millions of dollars throughout THEIR amazing careers, careers that have touched and improved the lives of millions of people and in Joe's case someone who has literally changed the entire dynamic of Podcasting as well as ushering in a much needed breath of fresh air when it comes to having difficult conversations about sensitive subjects in a fair, civilized manner. Something our society seems to have forgotten how to do until Joe made HIMSELF un-cancelable. Yeah THEY'RE just people, just people who have accomplished amazing things and who can basically go and do whatever they want to anywhere in life. Just people like you and me. Rrrrrriiiiggghhhttt🙄🤦☻️🤦🕴🤦😆🤦🤣🤦🤔🤦🕶 P.S.🇺🇲 This is the flag we use now, you guys lost that war remember!?🇺🇸

I met Maynard once and have been around him several times, all at wine events. While I'm a fan of his music, owning all of his albums and been to numerous concerts, I knew at these wine events he was there as a winemaker and wanted nothing to do with talking about or being recognized as a musician. I think him making wine is his alter ego and is a rejuvenating activity for him when he's not touring. And it is another creative outlet for him since being the lead singer for 3 successful bands was apparently not enough for him. His winemaking and restaurant endeavors are also him planning ahead for when the day comes that he stops touring, although I think that is many years out.

I know I’m exceptionally late but I appreciated this comment when I read it. I’ve heard a lot of stories of Maynard not having the best interactions with fans, and I always felt that was due to the fact that he hated the Celebrity/Idol Worship present in our culture. When hearing about his Vineyard it never occurred to me this might have been an opportunity for him to try a persona if you will, separated from his Rockstar persona which he seems to dislike to a degree. Until reading your comment it didn’t occur to me that might be a part of the reasoning(apart from actually liking the wine making process and enjoying wine as I’m sure he does) interesting story, thanks so much for sharing gave me new perspective

Everybody's tripin wanting to hear anything about this man's musical experience and persona. They forget that this man is a hard working individual who's life's work is not all what his music plays out to be. If anything,.. rooted, downed to earth, and reconciled is way more significant than what anyone may expect (considering his music being outta this world). I'm so damn glad that there are people who can live and earn a living and make amazing works of musical art or any art form. As a role model (like it or not Mr. MJK) , It gives hope to me and cuts out the fictional bullshit that might ensnare me.

I just saw Puscifer last night on Halloween in Nashville, TN and saw Tool in Louisville, KY on my birthday in March 5, 2022! Also saw Tool in 2019 in Birmingham, AL when they announced the release of Fear Inoculum. He is so diverse and loved Puscifer. His performance with Carina is awesome. I cried a little seeing him and during the skits laughing with his celeb "tik tok conspiracy" clones content! I don't get to see him with Tool so it was an awesome experience!

The oak influence in my opinion is the key to wine or whiskey. I love wine although I now drink mostly bourbon or rye. Still I have a great respect for wine makers because I know it's a very labor intensive thing. I prefer a strong oak flavor in a deep red wine but just as in a bourbon, the oak notes can become bitter or offensive and that's the difference between what I would purchase and what I wouldn't.

  • @l.s.1709

It's a balance that a distiller/maket needs to achieve. Bourbons are by definition very oaky, but these cannot be aged as long as refill cask Scotch whiskies because they can be overoaked, also the hotter inland US climate plays a role. If you take for example an Islay whisky, it's most of the time a waste of the spirit to put it in virgin oak for a long time because it would destroy the balance.

I think he believes the other members of Tool deserve more credit for anything that comes out of that band. He's much less involved in their process, since they practically write the whole song without him, then he comes in to write and sing the lyrics, and finally work with them to make sure everything fits. Puscifer is his solo project, so it makes sense that he would take a bit more pride in it, and talk about that project more. I think his experience manufacturing wine has humbled him and helped him grow a bit, and he feels it's kept him grounded in his struggles to work with nature and learn. At the same time, he takes pride in his success in building his business from scratch. Seeing that the wine business sort of matches up with him becoming significantly less angry in his music, I'm sure it's an extremely positive outlet in his life.
