Holy Cow! Fred and Tool! Two of my favorite things!
Very eclectic guy! Obviously intelligent and well versed but a tough nut to crack. Has a very dry sense of humor but has compassion out his ass. Great interview is all I can say!! And that is enough. Enjoy!!
Thank you both for this!🫡🙏👍🙏
love maynard!!
What a stellar interview. Favorite band with my favorite whiskey guy! Thanks so much for sharing🥃💨
nailed it with the audio. the only problem with mics is that they have to be turned on.

Feel like Maynard also purposely doesn't speak directly into mics on interviews. Def a low troll that he does. No way he doesn't know that an SM7B needs a direct line....that shit is pointed at the wall

@@DJHugedongabsolutely not. I’ve seen at least 80% of all his interviews and podcast appearances and MJK doesn’t shy away from the mic whatsoever. He knows how to speak into a mic better than any interviewer. The mic isn’t working properly or it isn’t on.

So disappointed in this
The interview I've been waiting for!
The technical breakdown of the exact makeup for White Claw was my favorite part. Just two equal parts. Who knew!? 😂 Fantastic interview Fred
whoa, Maynard!
Looking forward to seeing Maynard!🥳
Love the new format Fred!
Worst thing about Tool is the same worst thing about Bourbon... The Fans! lol. Got to be a real fan to get that joke, so don't throw shade, people that don't get it.

Great interview
Maynard!!! & I'm fixing to learn something about wine, life what?? Lol
Can’t wait to see Tool on this tour
This is gonna be epic!
Fantastic conversation. I learned so much beyond wine and whiskey 101. May seemed a bit stand-offish at first but Fred's no bullshit persona warmed him up. 😁
MJK really puts his interviewers at ease lol
Nicely done with the interview, Maynard is not an easy task. Love him, he's such a well rounded individual.
This feels like my world’s colliding.

This is a treasure. could be a really cool college class
Just saw Tool. Their sound was perfect….
Great placement for the Michters 10 Rye
MJK is who he is and what I like about his various interviews is that he is who he is and that’s what you get.

Caledonia Barr Hill Barrel Aged Gin “Tom Cat” out of VT is my favorite. Cheers from NJ
Love that!!! Do you like it? How novel an idea.
U just interviewed greatness. Wow. To have a conversation with that man is a true diamond in the rough. Great watch. Loved it. 😊
7:06 the prologue I thought I was going through The Irishman., took forever 😅
The best way to clear up any confusion with Tokaji vs brandy barrels is, buy a full barrel of Tokaji. Bottle that up as a single barrel and then you have something you can share with business partners!
Hey that looks like the guy from Tool!
Lol the elfish grin @27:18
Huge Tool/MJK fan, but I haven't heard too many good things about Caduceus winery. Hope they figure it out.
Audio is a bit crap. Why is MJK turned way down and your mic is blaring?
Maynard needs to shout like when he sings so we can hear him speak, lol 😂! He sure knows his stuff. The meads he's gonna put on tap at his winery sound cool!

Pretty sure his mic is not on.
Couldnt hear him the whole interview. Even as a big celeb. Make him speak into the mic! I watched this soley to hear him talk about mead and didnt even catch it if even. but still glad you got to interrview him and subtitles helped. cheers anyway!
Go to accessibility, audio switch to mono. Boom
I've noticed Maynard can be a bit tough with interviews. Seems respectable, definitely a breath of fresh air from the typical less than genuine conversations we often see
Did you forget to turn his microphone on? That's what it sounds like.
my only complaint with cans is im not a fan of plastic liners nor aluminum for various reasons. doesnt effect the taste for me i just like BPA's and whatever they're being replaced with especially when they are containing what is essentially a solvent
Monkey 47 is the bomb. Great gin to drink neat. Good call MJK
Maynard: Beer was cool then IPAs happened. what a legend.
Great interview guest! Shame about the mic on Maynard… listening to one of my favorite guests through a busted drive through speaker box.. 🙄
turn maynards mic up
Too bad Maynard’s mic isn’t working
I genuinely don't understand why he did this if he doesn't enjoy whiskey. That shudder said it all.
The audio guy was drunk
Well that sucks , can you guys get your mic levels right before recording 😢
Maynard doesn't appear until 7:10
Didn’t know I was watching an ASMR video… Come on sound guy.
Fix MJK's mic next time
Don't sweeten the mead. Why do Americans have to fuck it all up with sugar?! Fred, have you subbed honey for maple syrup ever? Similar mouth feel but that subtle maple is a joy. 🤘🥃

As an American… i don’t fucking know dude. We got better in the past 20 years but we really do have a lot of fat people and people who love sweets. And women buy or have the purchasing power in reality in most relationships here. (It’s an actual fact. 90 percent of cars bought the wife has final say… people think the exact opposite is true. It’s not). I worked in a winery a few years. We made some seriously great wines, and of course had to make the crap ones that sell. The vast majority of sales is sweet wines. And like, by 90 percent or so. You would destroy your business before it gets off the ground if you don’t do the supply demand dance. So don’t blame the creators. They literally have to in order to make the little bit of good shit. Blame our culture of fat. Fat fat fat mindsets and engorged over stimulated lives.
need to turn on MJK's mike

Can't hear Maynard. :(
Audio sucks should turn up Maynard’s mic…. I know he has no mic
You guys m
So I we went there the other day, because my nephew works there. Food and Wine were good, and let me specify, I know that places primary purpose is for selling his Wines, but the cocktail/whiskey selection was pretty mediocre. Angels Envy bourbon in their old fashioned's. The only farm to table regional whiskey they had was Frey Ranch bourbon, which is the "worst" Frey product. We have local/regional producers in AZ making more unique whiskeys, so i was really disappointed in their whiskey selection.
Please don't scare Maynard

could your sound recordist not tell MJK's mic needed to be adjusted to pick up his voice? severely unbalanced. someone needs to get fired.
@JimmyKlef

Nobody needs to get fired. I saw your other comment. I’m not trying to shun you really, as there’s definitely a part of me with the same complaints, but i work audio, mostly for myself, but it’s likely, in fact almost certain to be a simple mistake or a series of mistakes by a few different folks. Many youtubers don’t even employ anyone with actual audio experience or expertise, but basically learn as they go. Many people who are using better microphones tend to not bother capturing audio with every available mic. This is what I think is a mistake that occurs simply because of this practice of using better close mics and lack of experience. Chances are they only ran his microphone into the recording. Any variety of reasons could have occurred. Either way, something like this audio could be helped a lot in post if they had each camera’s audio too. There’s a fairly high chance they do and are using it but didn’t try a better balance. In a situation like this it would be best to compress the other guys mic fairly hard, but run that at like a 50/50 dry/wet mix. It will bring maynard up and him down but without much compromise in uncompressed sound. And then run the audio from the camera closest to maynard fairly high and do some eq work on it (take out inevitable boxiness, roll off lows etc) And mix those two. Hopefully maynard would come through louder on the camera mic than the other guy. You could balance them out then this way. And probably run a noise gate on the compressed mic prior to the chain to clean up the background noise at least on that mic. I wouldn’t eliminate it, just back it off maybe 9db. Let the room mic be the room mic. It’s a whole thing. It’s easy for people who haven’t done a ton of audio try this sort of thing and end up sounding absurdly bad. So in short, yes this was avoidable and also more fixable than their attempt… but considering human beings make mistakes and learn as they go, id always prefer someone able to fail with me so nobody gets too precious about themselves and continues to learn and grow and accept and reciprocate empathy. There’s really no telling with any certainty what happened, they may not even know who’s mistake it was, and they probably don’t have much money for audio, if any. Most people are doing enough already. One shouldn’t assume everyone has access or resources… and aren’t using them… and one shouldn’t assume anyone should have the ability to take more on themselves when you don’t know how much they are already doing. If they want to hire more audio people, i would be happy to help. But I can’t assume anyone needs any shit talking. It was a slightly awkward video. It happens. There’s still great content in it.
absolutely unbearable to pour a drink and watch this without the hosts voice constantly distorting your speakers and constantly having to lower and raise the volume, what a terrible video. poorly done.
Guacamole is better with cilantro.
