They met Keenan, best known as the singer and primary lyricist of the rock bands Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, through their mutual friend Tim Alexander, who is the drummer of Primus and A Perfect Circle. They were intrigued by Keenan’s winemaking venture and decided to document it. The film was shot over a period of three years, from 2007 to 2009. The film had its premiere at the Independent Film Festival of Boston on April 27, 2010. It received positive reviews from critics and audiences.
