The way Jocko looks at him in the beginning while explaining his childhood, I've NEVER seen Jocko look so emotionally invested in this man's hardships growing up. Jocko smiled so softly to this man. And showed empathy in ways I've never seen from him. That was special ♡

I'd heard of Chad from the amazing work he and his peers did, that the State Dept, etc refused to do following the botched pull-out, but I'd never seen an interview with him. What an absolute gem! It's guys like Chad, Mike Glover, Jocko, etc, etc that gives me faith that the US can and will pull-through these very trying times. God bless every one of these grade-A badasses with hearts of gold! Hearing their stories never fails to motivate me to push myself to become the best I can be, and then some...

Great podcast... as always. So happy Chad and his wife were able to reconcile. It was a beautiful thing to watch this man humbly admit to the mistakes he's made in his marriage and then turn it around. It was also awesome to hear about his role in helping to save our allies... I followed the surrender of Afghanistan, and like most Americans, was thoroughly pissed off. I remember watching Glen Becks podcast requesting donations and writing letters to my state representative asking why Glen Beck was essentially doing the job of the state department. As we get closer to the election year I think Jocko should revisit the whole surrender of Afghanistan debacle, specifically the abandoning Bagram air base. Help people remember why we can't afford another 4 more years of the garbage administration currently in office.

There are only degrees of good and degrees of bad. No one is greater than 95% good throughout a whole lifetime of living. Most all evil is learned. Indeed the teachers of wickedness are a higher % of pure evil. As I've taught my young: "the best people you know are capable of the most terrible things you can imagine. In the same way the most evil people you know can possibly do an amazing thing for someone else." Now, all that aside and actual genetic socialopath has a highly different brain. In theory they are capable of good yet incapable of feeling bad for doing what you and I would consider evil/wrong. Terrorists are most often psychopaths. They meaning they were made evil and have an extremely small chance of evil becoming "a good person." There are many complex reasons why that is, yet it for sure is that way. Life is a balance of good days and bad one, good people, better people m, worse people and much worse/terrible people. All we can do is be our best and remember that it is impossible to measure a soul. This all being said, be good to yourself brother.

@@batjackjohnson252 Thank you for response. After thinking about it a little I realized that my pre-christian self did some pretty nasty things. You're right, everyone has bad and good within them. I come from a Muslim background and I'm familiar with certain aspects that lead terrorists to that path, and I don't think they necessarily have to be psychopaths to become terrorists. "Normal" people became terrorists. As Jordan Peterson says, we all have a stalin inside of us.

it's like delivering the mail in little rock ar. but we didn't get no bad ass training.. I go out and start my truck, the bullets start to come in like mortar rounds, I called it steal rain. they would hit cars in the parking lot where we parked at to get our trucks and drive across the street to the post office load up mail for morning delivery or pick up for night and read bags . there was always a truck driver screaming that their car got hit . and sure enough they would have new bullet holes in car trunk roof and hood ,, some wouldn't even start... then I would go pick up quarter mill. in red bags in the freaking hood , so u know I smoked weed going up and down the road in a mail truck to keep my mind right. I would just act like it's a normal thing like everyone else lols it was intense , u wouldn't think a mail job could be so dangerous but really they can be... shootings ever week and most nights were common down by the postoffice in North Rock then u have to go into the city the "hoods" they call um.. I didn't realize I was being shot at for a while then I was screaming to jesus for the bullets to stop flying my first shootout
