    Reasonable rules - there will always be some idiot flouting them, so they create more which most people don't need or want. Then the idiots who caused the situation to start with just doubles down.

    An awesome podcast. It took me too long to learn how to just be still. Don’t force things in life. Let them happen naturally.

    Positive identification is a real thing however there were people higher up with a 10,000 foot screwdriver controlling the action. And you are right if an individual feels threatened nothing on that card prevents them from acting and did the marines act.? yes they did, however after actions and debrief occurred Too much to talk about here by me just interjecting every so often

    There were cases where people were in minarets talking on radios or cell phones and we knew something was about to come and sure enough minutes later we would get hit by indirect fire. There was no way that could be proven to have hostile intent, even though our hearts, we felt it. There was other ways to stop that from happening

    As a leader, I had to balance mission, accomplishment, and Troop welfare. I could not just turn my guys loose to do whatever they wanted to do. If one of my Marines popped off around and killed someone that was innocent that Marine would then suffer consequences.

    Well, carrying a weapon to me in an area in war is also hostile intent but it did not necessarily mean you can just shoot that person

  • @oneyankeeone9031
    @oneyankeeone9031Сағат бұрын

    Also, what is hostile intent. I remember when there was people carrying shovels and other equipment for digging holes we could not do anything to them, but we knew that they were out planting IED This is a general but I think you get the point

    And also, what level of leadership are you talking about the lieutenant might want to do something but can’t because of the captain or the captain might but he can’t because of the Italian commander and so you can’t just say it was a leadership issue implying that people who didn’t act weren’t doing their job. What level of leadership are you referring to? And the higher it goes typically the bigger picture they have.

    Rules of engagement, although somewhat permanent did change throughout the war. Also, you know, as well as I do there was a lot of legal Es looking at the rules of engagement

    What atrocities are the Russians committed? I’m not sure they’re doing any, but I know that Ukrainians have done an awful lot, especially before the war broke out. There is no consistent coverage of the war so I don’t think you can speak. And if you’re getting classified briefs from someone that’s a no no.

    07:38 Yeah - no... Anyone who's ever served in any army across the world knows that if the shit gets so deep that it affects the Lt. Colonels and above, it gets swept under the rug by using loopholes in the books, especially if there's no damning evidence as photos or videos and we only go by eye-witness statements. There have been multiple Blue on Blue in Iraq , on Italians, on Bulgarians and on Brits. "Tragic and unfortunate accidents" get thrown out for the media and we're all good.

    I'm sure whoever wrote the report has no evidence. That's why "no one is listening." It's war, unfortunately people die. Sometimes details get confused. No one was killing women and children. If so, this information would have been out way before now.

    I'm an occasional viewer to this podcast. A result was that I've had other SEALs' pocasts recommended by YT. Suddenly there are SEALs and others accusing you of war crimes and narcissistic leadership. My assumption is that those guys have an axe to grind of some sort, or a major difference of sincerely held views of what happened. Have you addressed what these guys are saying? It seems to be ramping up. Bottom line for me is that although I have learned a lot from you guys, I wish SEALs had remained an enigma, that no one ever saw one or heard one talk. The internet seems designed to destroy people and their reputations and our hopes of how life can be.

    I didn't know it was "normal" to rebel against your parents while growing up because I was physically, verbally and emotionally abused for the first 17 years of my life so I became a people pleasing perfectionist. Rebelling isn't an option when your safety is already compromised

    I'm a little confused on what these marines have to gain by making this up? I understand what the guys who run these podcasts are getting out of it in terms of views and attention, but as far as I know these marines don't have a podcast. They're not selling a book either, or anything else for that matter... so why would they make this up? Just a personal grudge after nearly 20 years? There has been rumours about Chris Kyle for years, along with some pretty well known operations or personalities not being exactly accurate in their portrayals. Sitting down with these guys may be your best way to clear all of this up instead of playing video tag back and forth.

    Sorry you had to deal with this. I work with disabled people and people who routinely are violent and commit 'crime'. The median for leadership in Australia and the USA is far below what you practice. In your case you are safe because of your network. Many people's careers and reputations would die at this point. You are not normal and I am grateful that you have/ will survive this shit storm. Sorry it happened to you. Keep going in your works. Cheers, Matt. Always in your corner.

    What Jocko does that the critics don’t, is he cites specific people, places, dates, events, and protocols. I watched the GB Chronicles again, and it’s all anecdotes. Things they heard, what the marines were saying, like the body supposedly rolled in a carpet. Wouldn’t there be documentation of the investigation even if it was a cover up? In police work this is often what gets folks in trouble, poor, inaccurate, or fabricated reporting. Jocko is obviously a better public speaker and a very polished story feller. But his ability to cite specifics tends to lend him more credibility imo. I don’t mean to suggest Demming and Ryan are lying, but most of their complaints are anecdotes or folks calling Jocko names.

    This is what happens when you put NAVY seals in a Marine and /or Army infantry battlespace. What in the world do seals know about taking and maintaining ground in a battlespace anyway? Everyone wants to dance but not everyone got on dancing shoes. Seals are like the Marine Infantry's little kid brother always wanting to get into the big fights. Let the Infantry guys do the dirty work and stick to the books and movies.
