Recon Marine Fox Special Forces Host Rudy Reyes Part One | Mike Ritland Podcast Episode 156

Call of Duty. Generation Kill. Special Forces: The World's Toughest Test. For Rudy Reyes, it's all in a days work, but Hollywood's far from his only priority. It's change that matters most to Rudy - you can see it at Force Blue, his veteran nonprofit dedicated to ocean conservation, and in Special Forces on Fox, where he teaches stars to test their limits every week.
How does a recon marine go on to host one of the most daring shows on television? How does he end up playing himself on the breakout HBO series like Generation Kill? And through it all, how does Rudy Reyes manage to stay so positive?

Agreed. Also, I thought that it was funny that he was wearing a Marvel Comics shirt because as a huge comic book fan and someone who aspires to work as a writer and artist and to make independent comic books/ graphic novels in the future, I've always thought that Rudy should make a comic book with his own Super Hero! Hell, he could even base the Super Hero character on himself and a lot of people who work in the comic book industry have even served in the military( which might surprise some people to know). I've heard Rudy say in the past that he was a fan of comic books and Spider-Man, so I really think that he should make his own comic book! I'm even going to see if I can contact him and suggest it to him( that is, if he hasn't already thought of doing it and isn't already planning on doing it)!

Remember seeing him in the PBS doc about the war, and it took me a while to realize it was him because his eyes looked so much different. I remember him taking a swig from a bottle mid interview. His eyes were more unnerving than any of the words spoken. They were dark and ice cold. Doesnt look that way now, glad he has found peace in this life.

As a former CAAT Marine and Tow gunner I love the call out. We are so under utilized. Get one of us J-Tac certified and in support of a unit and CAS missions just got way easier. Also fun fact we carry the heaviest stuff in SOI now that they don’t let the 31’s hump the 50 lol. At least in 1/1 in the fleet back in 2015 we would regularly hike with 50’s, MSR’s, and mk’s. I remember during lcpls seminar and cpls course the 31’s and 52’s from CAAT would always be smoking the line guys even though we were mounted 50% of the time.

Guys like Rudy have given so much to this country and other countries- given their lives for others and it’s one of the worst feelings in the world knowing the government and the ppl in charge who put men like him in the position to be most effective just turned their backs on them and him during the time when they needed help and support the most. That story he told towards the end of this about the family wanting a paved road and Rudy’s ask for help being denied is a microcosm of how this country treats veterans after all they’ve been thru. We demand so much of them yet their brief plea for help goes unnoticed and turned down. Very sad man.
