SEAL Team Seven Canine Handler Chris Cappa Part One

Every warrior has a different reason for going over the wire. For Chris Cappa, it was almost destiny; a chance encounter at a local gym turned into a series of relationships that were suddenly severed in a 2011 Afghanistan Boeing Chinook shootdown - otherwise known as Extortion 17. Soon after, Chris found himself headed to bootcamp, and before long, deploying at the Tip of the Spear with SEAL Team Seven in West Africa and Afghanistan.
It wouldn't be long before Chris would find his real passion - canine handling with Mickey, the scrappy dog he feared may have been a non-starter right out of the gate. Turns out, great things really do come from small beginnings.

People, please hit the like button and pay attention when Mike said in the thumbnail. Well, not without attitude. You won't that saying is priceless and very, very useful, and very smart people don't say that enough. Anymore, it needs to happen when people have a negative attitude. We need to remind each other if you think negative negatives gonna happen if you think positive positives gonna happen. So thanks again mike

I agree with you Mike about telling guys the truth about what they are doing, like you said when I was younger I didn’t question anything but as I got older and higher up the chain it really started to cause me issues because I was questioning and pissed that dudes in charge of me wasn’t questioning like you said, I even told my commander once when he asked why are you giving us such a hard time? I said that’s the problem you should be doing this to your boss to fight for us. Which is why last year I declined promotion and retired I couldn’t co-sign on bs anymore.

to many of the higher ups only care about their careers and using said positions on their resumes when they eventually get out or smoking pipe to get where they want, most higher ups are pseudo politicians, its why most western militaries are having so much issue with recruiting an retention, im not from US but I seen the same shit in my countries military and why myself and most others got out

I firmly believe that based on the millennia of evidence of dogs willingness to sacrifice themselves for their chosen humans/packs safety and survival Im absolutely certainly if you could do the impossible and have the doctor Dolittle ability to talk to animals and you asked any working dog military or LEO who do we send in a certain death situation you or your handler they would answer without hesitation send me. Sry this is what happens when I drink tequila and get emotionally invested in a subject that I'm pretty sure no one that watches this podcast would disagree with. But I know what it is I'm just missing Arron my German shepherd and one of if not the smartest dog I've ever met let alone owned fuck he's been gone 31yrs and I still miss that badass meet like he died yesterday. Sry the k9 episodes always hit me hard

I was abandoned by my father at 3 years old. I don't even know who he is, don't remember him, and even though I know my kids and was in their life for the early years. I'm not anymore so I basically abandoned them. The way my father did me not by choice. But I did the drugs so I guess I did it by Joyce. My thing is breaking the cycle is sometimes done on purpose but I think I didn't have any control over breaking that cycle meaning because of the childhood trauma. I went through in other ways way more severe than abandonment. Maybe that has something to do with not being able to break the cycle. I wasn't mentally strong enough or educated enough. And I think that's what it comes down to
