    Fun fact: Putting on that voice actually did give him some health problems with his throat. This played a part in him quitting from being Filthy Frank.

    He just used that as an excuse. if he can still sing just find then there’s nothing wrong with his voice. There’s nothing stopping him from making at least one last video but he won’t because he would rather be like every other sell out musician and make gay depressing music then make actual good content.

    I read about something not too long ago called パリ症候群 (Paris Syndrome). Basically Japanese people often have an overly idealized image of what Paris is like, and when they get there they're often shocked at how it not even remotely resembles the image they have of it. Like, it's so overly idealized in a few Japanese, and the reality is so far removed that those few Japanese people have experienced a psychosis as a result that even requires therapy. So, it's not so unbelievable that some Westerners really do have an idealized view of Japan to where they expect it to be exactly like anime. Or they're convinced that Japanese people all know ninjutsu, or collect katana and know where to buy them. Media has a strong influence over our minds.

    To make it more clear and understandable, Filthy Frank is just a character/persona played by Joji (George). He's half Japanese and half Australian. He lived in Japan long enough to be fluent in Nihongo, but he's currently in the US and is now a very successful singer. The Filthy Frank show is very satirical so the jokes he made can be offensive to some people and indeed his content is so filthy not everybody can handle it lol

  • @jaycee330
    @jaycee3303 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, Filthy Frank (real name George (Joji) Kusunoki Miller) is a half-Japanese/Australian native from Osaka. (You'll pick out the Kansai-ben in some of this other videos...search for "Filthy Frank speaking Japanese") He made these videos when he was studying in NYC in college, due to straining his voice doing the character and the various wild antics in his videos, he suffered seizures and had to stop doing the characters for his health, and after college he went on to his music career as Joji. Filthy Frank was created to be an anti-hero, and his type of humour may not come across well to non-English speakers.

    I always feel the need to defend my obsession with collecting weapons, in the comments section of reaction videos for this video. The thing is, I collect weapons from all over the world because of the history and craftsmanship of them. I like to consider myself an amateur weapons historian, but I guess it’s more accurate to just say I’m a weapons nut. Two of the items in my collection that I’m most proud of are an Aztec macquahuitl (pronounced Mack-hweet-ull) and a Maori Taiaha (pronounced Tie-ya-hah). They’re both made out of wood and stone, but the deadly simplicity of the construction is beautiful to me.

He did grow up in Japan though until he was 18, born in Osaka specifically (hence why he talks in a native Osakan dialect.) He went to a Canadian Academy in Kobe, Japan (hence his North American accent when speaking English.) He then went to college in New York later, leaving Japan at go there at age 18. Katanas are like every other sword, just a lot cooler looking and easier to learn because of its blade. Curve makes the edge alignment a lot easier and the stiffness of the blade makes it lot less likely to bounce off with incorrect edge alignment. Which makes the katanas incredibly easy to use in cutting tests.

    I thought this was a cute reaction because it is very authentic. Over the top comedy like this can be hard to understand just out of the blue. Especially for someone is is just everyday normal and not hard core into genre culture . I found his voice very hard to listen to also and I am Midwest American. But I totally understand the concept of the video which is to explain why Weeboos are not respected and to be called a weeboo is a meant to be an insult. Basically the extreme end of fandom that the other fans look down on because well... you know :) I am finding these reacts very fun and relaxing to watch. And I'm learning new things because I never heard of Filthy Frank before, which is also interesting. With your reacts, thanks for showing us a new view point that is very realistic and understandable.
