I dont get why people expect people to go out of their way to impress someone they barely know? What's wrong with addressing someone like a normal person? When we meet people IRL, we dont greet them with corny jokes or pickup lines.

@@thelonercoder5816 nobody has to go out of their way to impress anyone else but it's important to at least know how to keep conversation flowing. there's nothing complicated or wrong with learning how to offer open ended questions or statements, with the goal of learning more about someone else. one word or closed ended questions will usually produce similar answers, and feels like an interview or interrogation. and that's incredibly boring.

@@yakwtfgoidgafwabgtsam I agree with that but I think that the problem with this statement is that it assumes everyone has the same communication style. For example, i've met women who were terrible texters but were super talkative IRL. And i've met women who were better texters than they are talkers (super boring IRL). This would be the case for alot of people who don't care to text people behind a phone screen or people who could be shy and take longer to open up to someone they don't know. For, me personally, I'd rather keep convos short and just use texting as a way to vet someone isn't crazy and set up a date to get to know them in person. IDC about texting someone for hours or days. I'm not looking for a penpal.
