@Brian Kimboll yes, I was specifically referring to the etymology of the term "ecchi" in general since Japanese has alot of colloquial terms influenced by other languages/cultures in some way, in this instance the pronunciation of Roman characters with Japanese phonetics.

Japanese people dont use "henti" in the way we do. For them Ecchi is always some form of sex. Henti on the other hand kinda means like a fetish or a taboo or uncomfortable fetish. Japanese people would rarely describe sexual anime as "henti". It's more a situational word to describe a person doing something kinda creepy or like a fetish. Hard to explain exactly in text.

But in the end is basically the same. Ecchi means "H", as in Hentai. But for some reason just saying the first letter becomes more discrete. So basically "Let's do "H" things". "Let's fool around a little bit" is actually very fitting, Firuchi Franku's wisdom is on another level.

Hey, I didn't expect that M-word. I almost died.... Don't use that word on any thinkable occasions except if you accidentally got transferred into a hentai world. You really know well about Japanese!

I remember one guy I used to know laughing about how he'd be hanging around with some of the more rough types over in japan and how even in a bunch of 20-24 year old crude knife fighting weekly types the moment he'd say that word everyone would turn their head and look at him like he grew wings or something.

I'm surprised you didn't try to translate the katakana banner...or maybe you did, and didn't want to comment. (Hey, don't blame FF, blame Jay Z).

Why does everyone who reacts to japanese 101 takes him seriously and tries to correct him and tell me not to do what he is saying. I wanna see a review where you continue the joke. Tell me that he is right and give me more phrases to pick up girls in japan.
