The Watcher goes into extensive detail of the rise and fall of the early 2000s show, "Jackie Chan Adventures' a show about an Indiana Jones version of Jackie Chan with the assistance of Lex Luthor and his sorcerer Uncle fighting Asian monsters seeking apocalyptic artifacts. Wait, is that really what this show is about?
BGM Credit : Oriental Flower by Daisuke Ishiwatari from Blazblue (which has a part that sounds kinda like the theme song to the show)
Jackie Chan Adventures, Xiaolin Showdown, and Rush Hour are owned by Time Warner.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is owned by The Walt Disney Company.

Speaking of Velmont's actor. The first Velmont actor... Julian Sands also played the villain to Jackie Chan in the Medallion. So if you want a live action movie between Chan and Velmont... you got that movie.
Jade is useless? I beg to differ. She was often times the one that moves the plot along. She was Jackie's character foil and a leader in almost every episode (as in she initiates most of the significant events.)

I still find Uncle funny. I know he's a racial stereotype but I dunno, he's still funny and I never once thought he was offensive even as I got older. I guess somethings you just gotta let slide for some fun and to be honest, I think we get too offensive over small things sometimes. And Jade well, she was useful and I always felt like she acted realistic. She's a kid and she wants to get in on the adventure and fun just like any other kid.

I don't think he's a racial stereotype as much as he is an old person stereotype. He's the "stubborn old man who appears senile but is actually the wisest of the cast" cliche. The way he doesn't talk in perfect english, or is all about old philosophy and tradition isn't necessarily asian, most grandpa character will be like that, and I don't find it offensive because I don't think the foreigner part is the focus of his character.

I don't know if you could call Uncle a bad stereotype. Gramps from American dragon was a lot like Uncle, he yelled a lot (in Chinese) and was the cliche old Asian kung fu teacher.
I really liked this show as a kid, I remember liking Jackie's character, a guy that wants to be normal but knows he should do what's right, and the talisman's and masks the most
You should do one for American Dragon: Jake Long

I was totally waiting for this since you said you would do it, and you did not disappoint at all!! Very amazing review!
3:30 And arguably the most intimidating of the first season's henchmen. Seriously, say what you will of his later season appearances, but he was probably the best feature of the bad guy roster.
tbh I wouldn't find it hard to believe that 5 characters from *this show* can pull up a bus considering they can smash through solid walls and stuff.

***** Jade has kicked out fully-grown men. Most characters from this show have done superhuman things from some time or smother.
I just had a blast of nostalgia. I had Jackie’s action figure from this show. . I was a mega fan. I was blown away as a young kid when I saw Rumble in the Bronx. I had to see all his movies, and I became a fan of Chinese King fu movies in general.
*makes a reference to Tohru Adachi* Me:"that reminds me,I need to get the Adachi DLC on P4U."
As much as I love season 3 from yugioh, i also largely was frustrated because they were about to duel yami marik....and then a stupid plot device ends it...if they dueled marik BEFORE an then got caught in the virtual world, that would have been at least okay...but it felt like the heroes were trapped and so were we....trapped to wait what felt like forever for marik's duel with yugi.
this took awhile i had been waiting with anticipation since you said you were going to do the series, and you did not disappoint it was well worth the wait. thanks i love it i will probably watch it again. plus i love uncle as a kid i found him really funny.
I love your videos, never stop your go at kid show reviewing!
You know, I didn't think of Jackie Chan the actor for a minute when watching the show. The protagonist is younger and taller, so I didn't feel like that was a celebrity in animated form.
Nicely done. I was looking forward to this review. I really liked this show as a kid, and I especially loved Shendu and the Demons.
Your reviews are getting pretty funny ^_^
Keep up the videos! I enjoy every single one of them!
The reason why Daolon Wong appears to succeed less than other villains is because he's the only one that tries to get the job done by himself, Tarakudo follows but he rather see the others burning the world, what did Shendu did for the entire first season? Nothing but whine and whine while the others kept doing things to him, in season 2 he worked as a slave to free his brothers and had to rewrite the history because he was too incompetent to do anything right by his own merits, season 3 he does a bullshit move with Wong that shows even more how much of a coward he is. Daolon Wong is the only villain that had the balls to face his battles aiming for his goal, that's why he's my favorite villain.

By that merit, and based on his power skills, Wong had no reason to fail in any of his endeavors. Instead he kept overlooking the obvious flaws in his plans or getting one-upped by Uncle, who was, in Wong’s own words, a novice wizard compared to him. In the end he seemed to be completely incompetent. Anyone with any sense would have realized that making a deal with Shendu was a bad idea. Even I realized that when I watched the episode as a kid. I was like “Why wouldn’t Shendu just take the dragon power for himself as soon as he had the chance?” And then he did. Shendu was a legitimate threat with strict limitations put on him in the first season. He had every right to complain. Unlike Daolon Wong, who had a vast amount of power at his command from the start, but still failed time and time again because he was a moron. In the second season, Shendu suddenly became stupid for no reason in lieu of his siblings, who didn’t really have much to offer besides some cool looking aesthetics and awesome voices (Sky Demon aside). They’re supposed to be “demon sorcerers”, yet apart from Shendu, only a few of them display abilities outside of their corresponding elements. I never understood why they were legitimate threats. They all kind of got the “Boba Fett” treatment, in which they looked intimidating, but had nothing to offer and were immediately taken out by the protagonists. Shendu in the first season, by contrast, was very intimidating. Tarakudo was a competent villain who had an ace in the hole if his plan was thwarted. Granted, he could have just let the J-Team do all the work for him, but that could have clued them in about the contingency he had in place. I agree with Watcher that Tarakudo was the biggest threat of the series. Drago sucked. At least until he all of a sudden turned into Cthulhu, but at that point, it felt unearned.

@@MrPjw5 Wow that was a long time ago. Although Wong wasn't the brightest guy out there I always thought it was very fucked up that he was the only main villain in the series not to be the final boss of his own season. Shendu being milked over and over after Season 2 really got on my nerves.
@brobroman9356

@@sikisikiamimis It is really kewl to see a guy respond to a reply to a comment he made 5 years ago lmao. In all seriousness tho, my main problem with Daolon Wong is that he just kind up shows up out of nowhere (like what Watcher said) and displayed utter incompetence. He honestly was just a fucking idiot. There were many times where I just questioned Wong's logic. Even ignoring him making a deal with Shendu, there is a lot to make fun of. Why didn't Daolon Wong just make Uncle, Jackie, Tohru, and Jade his dark chi slaves? He had no issue making an extra slave with Hak Foo so don't tell that he can only have 3 at a time. In one episode, when Jade became a giant, he summoned a gigantic ogre to fight her, why didn't he use this power more often? I honestly would have cringed if they made Daolon Wong the final boss of season 3. He just completely sucks compared to Shendu. Shendu is cunning and deceptive af, has much kewler powers in his true form (he had no problem defeating Wong despite having no Talisman powers while Wong had 2), and overall felt more intimidating.

you give the best reviews
That review was great. You are getting much better at these. Keep up the excellent work. =D
LEAVE VALMONT ALONE HES GOT CLASS well had it anyway
You know, I always thought that you knew something about the Persona Series, and this just sealed that theory.
You know a villain's bad when their henchmen betrays them....and then he rewards them anyway
Drago may not be the best villain, but you got to admit, Shendu having a son left everyone bewildered. It raised up the question on whether or not Drago is half-human.
I would love if you would review Pokemon, and (it's a stretch) Yu-Yu-Hakusho if you have interest in them. I love what you do and this is onee of my favorite channels to watch, mostly for the nostalgia and the sophistication you give the reviews. Keep it up, you are awesome
Actually Cap.Black and Lex Luthor are voiced by the same guy, Clancy Brown.
Dude thank you for reminding me of this show. I missed it so much
Awesome review~!
Keep making videos !!! Yer awesome
yayy thanks Watcher
Solid review, very nice!
22:23 lol, love your stuff man.
Hell yeah this was the review I was waiting for.
They probably expected the two demons to wind up in the Netherworld in the first place. After all, they still won even after Shendu got out, released his demon bretheren, got brought back to life, got his powers back, and have his son try to free him. It's called "plot armour".
Great show and great video!
I don't think this guy understands what "ethnic stereotype" means. God forbid a foreigner has an accent or drinks tea. He'd call my grandmother an ethnic stereotype for just those reasons. Anyone who's actually watched the show can see how much loved and respect was put into it. He's right about the show being better when it was all fight choreography. I imagine that got harder to think up scenarios and storyboard later. Or perhaps they just ran out of ideas or got tired of doing it. That'll do, pig. That'll do.
@starsearch1952

@proeller: well as much as you may agree with the "show being better when it was fight choreography".. It's all opinion at the end of he day. Some ppl may like the show as a whole, but I happen to agree with you guys. I like the earlier seasons the best..the later season with Drago I didn't find as entertaining or interesting.

I cant get over how much Jade sort of resembles Viper
Please do Trigun , im a big fan and its a scifi western . It combines two amazing things which is incredible
A review of Static Shock would be great!
I simply loved this show. Season 1, 3 and 4 were my favorites, while my least favorite was obviously, Season 5 (except for the ending, it was cool).
Wait a minute...Season 2 didn't really change anything... I guess the J-team got the talisman's back by the end of it, but overall it feels rather pointless after it ends. You could just jump to season 3 from Season 1 with no issues.
I just remember that Jade used to say "duh" all the time, so I picked it up. My mom got pissed >. (still, very much loved the show growing up.)
Nice review, dude! You should review Danny Phantom or Teen Titans. Or maybe that anime version of the Powerpuff Girls. I'd like to see a review of one of these three (or maybe all three shows) and know your opinion. =D
I'm thinking about giving Seasons 4 and 5 another chance, I saw each season as a kid and I loved seasons 1 and 2, liked 3 for a few episodes, 4 was iffy for me, and 5 was just too lazy for me, but I am willing to give it another try at making me like it as much as the first 2 seasons
You know: all these years, people keep saying the sheep talisman is terrible. But you know what, i think the Rat is the worst! Grant it, if you play your cards right and befriend a giant metal stayue, than its good. But there's a risk the creature will run off with the stone and fight you. Heck! The talisman is powerless in living things! Atleast the sheep power gives you the power to float though walls, see danger and fly into sleeping people's dreams. That's useful: rat power is useless under normal circumstances! 🐑>>>>>🐀 prove me wrong!
should review young justice
Season 4 has to be my favorite season, I guess its what got me into myths in other culture with those damn oni
Yes, please!
22:17 END OF THE WORLD! He said that he's gonna bring an army of Kirby! Have you seen how many creatures one Kirby has killed in Dreamland? Think of an army of pink, devouring puffballs!
There is one plothole that I was pretty pissed about. Daolon Wong's final appearance is in a season 4 filler where he tries to steal the Deja Vu stone which allows him to travel back to his past in order to correct his past failures. While Jackie and Wong fight over the stone it accidentally brings them both back in their own past. The stone is lost in one of their past experiences. Jackie meets Daolon Wong and finds the Deja Vu stone. Jackie uses the Deja Vu stone but brings them both back to the first episode, where Jackie first meets Jade. The Dark Hand appears and ask about the shield. Jackie tells them that Daolon Wong is in possession of the shield after which they take him to Valmont. Now this can go in two directions. One: After learning Daolon Wong doesn't have the shield the Dark Hand killed him and continued the regular plot line. But this would also mean that Daolon Wong never resurrected Shendu in season 3 and never summoned Tarakudo in season 4. Two: In Valmonts office Wong recognized Shendu as a statue and made a deal with him. Or Valmont just let him go and Daolon Wong went to his past self to warn him about the trouble Jackie and Uncle would bring him. Either way, it would not be pretty. But somehow, this did not effect the timeline.
Great show. Childhood memories.
A really nice review. I also like Tarakudo :D Though I gotta disagree on Jade, Uncle and JCA fillers points - I really like'em. Also, if you want to watch an anime with really fun fillers - try Slayers, these will make you rolling from laughter... well, they made me X)

I really loved this show as a kid As an adult, it's VERY hard to watch (aside from the villains) because of how childish the dialogue is

that ending was awesome

Couldnt agree more with the review. In fact you were quite fair. I remembered how much the first episode hit and went to watch it...yeah still good, more movement in animation and fights then some modern stuff. Plus the limited backgrounds helped so they could draw more and faster. They must have gotten a mandate to put less action cause back then shows were getting hit with the too violent for kids (see spiderman). In spiderman's case they had comix stories to fall on so action wasn't important and spiderman works well finding ways to hit opponents without directly hitting them. WIth the less action and more magic based fights the later seasons got dull. Jackie hardly fought if i remember more than a few seconds then fell in some wacky way. The confident ready for a fight jackie was gone from episode 1 (in self defense). Yeah they couldnt grow the characters given jackie needs to be likeable, jade was like the blue ranger kid, annoying and took up too much screentime, im a kid, i dont wanna be another kid i wanna be the cool adult lol. Finally, the simple plot of the first season worked for what it was, trying to push it lead to messy stuff hence they ordered less eps later on. The final season besides last fight was awful. Dont remember the book part, think I skipped most of it since it was mostly jade. Fighting the dragons with talismins was ok overall the first season was it the rest is nostalgia bait. Batman TAS it is not. Thou its still good for a cash grab.
You released this on mah birfday
definitely worth the wait!
Yeah, I remember not watching much after season 2 ended. Also, please review The Batman, it was the first version of Batman that I cared about, and thus has a special place in my heart.
