Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated redefined the Scooby formula in a really fascinating way. Like the characters are actual people, the story is strange and interesting, and it's visually amazing! This is the coolest Scooby show I've ever seen, and I've seen a few! Let's take a look at it! FANS OF FRED, UNITE!

Fred's story in this series was surprisingly tragic. His narcissistic father was more interested in tourism profits than raising his son. Then after Fred has to unmask his father, Fred learns that he was actually adopted as a ploy against his biological mother and father, who are still alive. And when Fred starts digging into his biological parents, he finds out that they are actually much worse than the father who raised him, realizing later that they were corrupted by an artifact. His birth parents go so far as to get plastic surgery as a way to trick Fred into giving them the artifact, later dropping all pretenses and go after Fred in an attempt to kill him, helping an eldritch beast kill one of his school friends when she tries to protect the current Mystery, Inc. His birth parents are eaten in their corrupted state by the beast when they pledge their service to it. Before Fred's adopted father is also eaten, a dream world version (but more or less a genuine copy) apologizes to Fred and admits that even though he didn't adopt him for the right reasons, he still considers him his son. (Did I mention that Fred had to watch all three die?) Then when the corrupting artifact is destroyed, it resets the timeline as though it never existed, with only the current Mystery, Inc. remembering. In the new timeline, Fred's birth parents are uncorrupted and happily raising him, while his adopted father doesn't remember raising Fred at all, only saying that he wished he had kids. Did Fred steal the writers' waifu or something??

"Mystery Incorporated" was a very intriguing take on the franchise, and for the most part it worked. A lot of the characters interactions were interesting, Pericles was a fascinating villain, the overarching story and dark tone were captivating, and the countless references to previous installments and other Hanna-Barbera shows were a real treat (especially in 'Mystery Solvers State Club Finals'). The only major things that bothered me were Velma in the first dozen or so episodes and the cynicism in some parts. Velma seemed too unlikable when she urged her relationship with Shaggy, especially in the episode where that Terminator-dog framed Scooby. Luckily, by the second half of Season 1, she really began to improve and became a more sympathetic character from there on out. With that aside, MI is still worth checking out.

It kind of makes sense why it didn't work. Velma isn't really into guys in general in the show, she's written as a lesbian, but when the society is so heteronormative around you you feel like you're "supposed" to be into guys. She didn't really like Shaggy in the way she thought she did but she didn't really know what it was supposed to feel like and she just guessed her feelings wrong, and she was trying to "fix" him in the hopes that maybe that'd help spark some stronger feelings for him but it just wasn't gonna happen. Shaggy choosing Scooby over her is probably one of the best things he ever did for her long term.

@@pumpkinpartysystem X2: Wolverine's Revenge video game was a very intriguing take on the X-Men franchise (especially the 1992 animated series), and for the most part it worked. Sabretooth was a fascinating villain/boss, the story and dark tone were captivating (where Wolverine must find a cure for Shiva Virus before he dies). The only major things that bothered me is the extremely hard difficulty. To beat Magneto in a boss fight, you have to use one particular attack from one particular spot (while dodging the wide and painful arrangement of things he'll send flying your way) to knock him down and beat the crap out of him. If that wasn't bad enough, you're on a clock - beat him before he gets his power-dampening collar off and instantly murders you. And to make it worse, he's not even the final boss. If there was ever a time and place to use the built-in Invincibility code, now would be it.

Okay I absolutely LOVE Mystery Incorporated. It's *everything* I could have ever wanted for a Scooby-Doo series. A proper, story-driven series with real mystery, with the Scooby franchise thrown in? Perfect. And it's obvious that they loved the source material. It has hints and references and easter eggs to just about every major (and even minor) part of all the past series. Hell, it even has loving references and cameos from other classic shows from the time, not including the amazing fever dream episode. When I saw Johnny Test, Dino-Mutt, etc. I went crazy. True beauty. It even had some OP Shaggy Meme moments. I could go on and on about how much I love this series. I really hope we get another story-based series like Mystery Incorporated some time in the future. But it would be hard, because MI used material from the entire franchise, and they can't use anything from it because the MI story is finished. They'll have to build up an entire world from scratch again. But, it's been done before and even some of the other series have minor aspects of continuity, so it's not impossible. I always loved Scooby-Doo, but the episodic nature of it all and "The Formula" always turned me off a tiny bit. So I'll be looking forward to the next series that is in the same style as MI.

I just finished binging Mystery Incorporated recently and y'all they did not have to go that hard but they did. Just pure chaotic energy from this entire show holy shit. Like the last half is just utterly unhinged and feral, who the hell was the team on this because it was a masterpiece.

I remember watching mystery incorporated as a kid, and forgot how much I loved it. I was looking back through my old CDs and saw tons of Scooby doo. I recently just saw it came to Netflix and rewatched the whole thing. It brought me back to my old kid days. EDIT: They *NEED* to make a season 3!!!

The episode of that old dude living in his underground house, the episode where Angel Dynamite was left in that underwater city, and the big finale definitely contributed to some of my fears as an adult, but I don’t want to think about that for too long.

I LOVE THIS SERIES, but when hey announced the new series for scooby doo and I watched the first episode I was so disappointed, it completely stripped everything from the characters and added weird tropes for the characters to "revamp them", seeing the end of mystery inc I really want a sequel…

I've been watching Scooby-Doo since I was a toddler, I watched pretty much the entirety of the very first series. Anything that was related to it, I watched it because I'd love it. It's what started my obsession with murder mysteries/criminal related tv shows and books. The only things that was shaky to me was having Scrappy-Doo on shows, the 13 Ghosts series was also odd to me, and the very recent series that's gone overboard goofy with no adventurous dark elements is a rough watch. Mystery Incorporated is hands down the most gripping series that was made, and I was absolutely gutted that they didn't continue it in some way or another. The visuals were brilliant, the storyline was brilliantly executed, and developing the characters the way they did was amazing. It was the best revival of the franchise by a long shot.

One of my favourite ways to describe the tone of the show is to bring up the gluten episode. The main plot is a really silly story, even for Scooby Doo. But then you get to the last few minutes where a man is TORTURED BY HIS FORMER BEST FRIEND. This show is fucked up and I love it so, so much.

I actually watched every new episode when it aired, and even though i was a kid when it aired I wasn’t dumb I knew Mystery Inc. was something special i loved the mystery, gore, suspense and narrative the show presented the show was amazing in every possible way unfortunately not many people liked it because of its mature nature but being a smart kid i knew that was what made the show stand out from all the other cartoons airing at the time that said i can understand why people were skeptical to watch it i mean the show had violence, gore, mature themes, and yes even death and lots of it hell the show literally killed a recurring character in the last episode, and even made an episode where they found out that they were only friends because of a demonic entity controlled them to free him but in the end all that made the show controversial made me love it even more 🔎

Huzzah! A review for _Mystery Inc!_ I remember looking for some 2 years ago or so along with reviews of other underrated shows like _Detentionaire_ but finding barely anything. I’m glad to see more stuff covering it now! I often describe it as _Gravity Falls_ before _Gravity Falls._ It doesn’t mean _Gravity Falls_ copied _Mystery Inc_ at all; just that they share similarities and if you like the former, you’ll probably enjoy the latter. 👌

    >It doesn’t mean Gravity Falls copied Mystery Inc at all I mean, it DOES have some suspicious similarities... :P I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. @@ThePreciseClimber I mean, you can certainly go that route, but it's up to interpretation. I mostly said it that way because I want to promote the show, and implying anything could make _Gravity Falls_ fans upset because people are like that. If you want a side-by-side comparison of _all_ the similarities they share (and there _are_ a lot), you can take a look at this chart: ultraericthered.tumblr.com/post/149105292340/which-one-am-i-talking-about-the-correct-answer

I so, so desperately want the third season of this. I absolutely need the continuation. I have had multiple 3 hour car rides with friends who have watched this show where half of the car ride is spent discussing the show and more specifically how absolutely mind-blown we were when they actually. Killed. Multiple characters. In Scooby-Doo. When that happened, during my first I'm watching the show, I had to pause the show and Rewind it and see if there was something that hinted at some other explanation other than " that's named and recurring character just died". Honestly, I would take either a really well-written fanfiction or the writers from this coming forward and just dumping all of their ideas on the ground for us to mull over.
