This show just has the problem that almost all cartoons have after a reboot, the characters become annoying. They take the best parts about characters and either exaggerate them to no end, or completely flip them.

I thought it was hilarious the way they changed Mandark, just completely out of nowhere he's running around with a cape and his lab is black and red lava lamps lol.

Well, thats the funny thing is everybody is always saying "bring the old shows back." yet, they don't know how hard it is. To re-create a classic such as "Dexter's Laboratory" for example would require just about EVERYONE from the old cast (including animators, voice actors, writers, so on and so forth.) to agree to come back and work together again. I hate when people say that and then complain about how everything is different because it's kinda there own fault. Good review even though I didn't really agree with a lot of it.

RJ App Yeah besides it's never good for any show to go past it's original run things like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Modern Spongebob or as I call it(Demonic Bob Scarpants), etc they are shadows of their former selves what killed Family Guy for me these days was that it got less funny somewhere around 2013 and it got way too gross over being funny although I wish more cable networks would realize that there's a thing call (Seasonal Rot). Because one day something like Spongebob will lose interest to the general audience hell it lost a lot of people during 2012 so yeah

I'm sorry, but "Fart Direction" just makes me laugh at how absurd it is.

That's interesting... I think I can remember the animation looking more polished, but I was way too young back then to realize that later episodes were fairly different from those in the original series. That's a bit of a shame and a sad realization...

Mandark wasn't a villain in the original series! He only became a villain in Ego Trip! Also, they threw away all of Dee Dee's character, making her just a dumb young teenager : / In the original, she was only stupid when the plot called for it.

My story LivLab Dexstar has Mandark become evil ala Brightburn or Venom, as in some alien stretches their tendrils into his head and steadily made him more hostile and aggressive (which could be hidden due to him becoming a teen around the same time), whereas Dee Dee would pretend to be dumb to throw Mandark off her trail.

And now I'm really wanting to see an Invader Zim review.

dexter doesn't look smoother,he looks smaller and he's missing a button on his coat. and he got bigger glasses and a small (height) head. Oh and the only S4 episode Genndy Tartakovsky wrote had ren and stimpy-esque animation '~' (Chicken Scratch)

I am soooooo glad that someone feels the same way about these seasons.

And what is really sad, that after roughly a year when this review was made Christine Cavanaugh passed away on 2014. December 22 from leukemia. :(

I loved "Jeepers Creepers Where is Peepers" Well, I was kinda scared of it when younger... But now I really love that episode! I found it so random, and as an anime fan, it was so funny!!

Lol, about time this got out. In all seriousness, this is tied with the Ed, Edd, and Eddy top 10 for my favorite work of yours. Seasonal Rot is a sad, sad sight. And the mighty must fall. Sadly, I wasn't that big of a Dexter's Lab kid, it's still good: but I was more Ed, Edd, and Eddy and Johnny Bravo than it. Would LOVE to hear your thoughts on Cow and Chicken, as well as the new series: Xiaolin Chronicles (Both of which I can't stand, but should be fun to hear)

I'd like to see a Ben 10 review as a matter of fact a review for each of the Ben 10 cartoons

4:20- I think Hey Arnold had a similar thing with the voice actor of Arnold himself being changed every season or so.

I'd loved the second run, I was a kid and I thoroughly enjoyed the episodes.

I keep hearing you say how you loved Invader Zim. You gonna review it soon, because I've been waiting on that one since I started watching. Can you at least do it soon? I know there wasn't too many episodes, but there's enough to make a decent review of the masterpiece.

With the new season, I can really tell you've gotten even better at this, your voice sounds way more "animated", for lack of a better pun, than before, and your editing seems a lot smoother and fast than before

It's weird when he tries to convince me of something, and it doesn't work. Like when DeeDee had two voice actresses, who he said didn't sound alike. I'm just sitting here like "Either this guy has perfect pitch or he's just being nonsensically nitpicky...".

You have a good point about the episode of Mom and Dad playing scrabble, but Dexter and Dee Dee think Dad might be having an affair.

I actually kind of liked the second run sure it's nowhere as good as the original but there are some pretty weird and crazy episodes in the season which actually made me smile quite a bit. This is of course my oppinion. Good review Watcher.

0:55- At least Cartoon Network came to their senses and ended Dexter's Lab eventually, I think the curse of never being cancelled followed poor Seth and Butch. Honestly, the later Dexter's Lab episodes don't bother me that much since i was never really a big fan of Dexter, but these later seasons feel like symphonies from the heavens compared to the newer episodes of Family Guy and Fairly Oddparents.

Compared to Family Guy and Spongebob, the more recent episodes of "Fairly Odd Parents" are holy grails. While it has declined in quality and needs to end, the writing is still pretty funny and the episodes are still good as long as the focus is still on Timmy. Anytime they let Poof or the stupid dog, or even Crocker to an extent are the focus, that's when it gets shitty. I do hate how flanderized Crocker and Cosmo have suffered. Crocker is now portrayed as a pathetic loser whose humor now derives from how pathetic he is. Cosmo seems to get stupider every single year, and for some reason his voice keeps getting higher pitched. And I hate the animation. Looks too polished. Still, it could be a lot worse. For some reason, I've always found the way Timmy's parents' neglectfulness being played for laughs was hilarious. This was long, but I just wanted to say this for some reason.

Fair enough, at this point Timmy's dad is probably the only character i actually like, Nickelodeon is pretty much desperate and are keeping this show and Spongebob on life-support. It's just annoying, I mean I have more respect for CN for canceling their classic shows when they were good rather than keeping them going and going until they become shell of their former selves. Like I said Dexter's Lab was an OK show in my opinion, so the change didn't bother me, but compared to the crap on Nick it's a blessing.

At this point the only show still on life support is Spongebob. Even though Fairly Odd Parents is still running, they almost never show it. Basically, the only thing that could possibly kill Spongebob once and for all is another blockbuster cartoon series that is a bigger cash cow than Spongebob. Otherwise, we can revel in atrocious Spongebob episodes until around 2052. What makes me mad is that Butch Hartman's other series "Tuff Puppy", while nothing special, was still pretty funny and had a charm to it. It got canned almost immediately. Even though I grew up with Nickelodeon, I'm starting to realize how much better quality CN had and in some respects still has over Nickelodeon. At least CN has the balls to experiment. They don't just run Adventure Time all day just because it's the highest rated program.

Exactly CN got to where it's at because it had guts, Nick got lucky at the beginning with some good shows, now just uses Spongebob as an everlasting shield, and kills off any show that has some potential (aside from Korra and TMNT) and they over-amp anything new to the point that the viewers aren't excited for its premiere, but rather they're so annoyed that they want said show to air so the ads for it can shut up already. CN is fairly subtle about its ads, they come up, but they don't annoy the crap out of us.

I agree. The only time Nickelodeon took a chance with something and it stayed on long enough to take off was "Avatar: TLA". Any friend of mine can tell you how bad I fanboy over that Avatar by the way. Nick probably needs to invest more time and airing space on mature, action based cartoons like Danny Phantom or Avatar. Right now, they're in a rut. It just simply will not press forward. We have Korra, but the only problem is this: they air the episode and never show it again. At least we have Nicktoons Network that at least tries with its programming and shows Korra. Nickelodeon never markets it, which is strange because it has more ratings than Spongebob almost. Why not take advantage of it? My theory is that one: people are still very iffy with female protagonists, even though that is excruciatingly ridiculous. For some reason executives think that if a show has a female protagonist, it's strictly supposed to be for females and there goes your male audience. Totally not true. Two: Something like Korra is very difficult to market, especially to kids since Korra is aimed at a more adult/late teenage audience. So they can't take advantage of toys, marketing, and stuff like they can with Spongebob.

I dunno, I kinda like Dexter's season 3 design better. Though, Dad looks so different that I barely recognized him when I first saw him on the revival. Another thing that bugs me is that the revival tends to be more mean-spirited towards Dexter, especially later on. I'm not saying Dexter was ever the luckiest character before, but there are times in the revival where things so wrong for him that I just wish it ended at season 2 for his sake. The episode "Height Unseen" is probably the worst offender.

Ryan Zombii Hey that's your opinion, but personally I prefer Spectacular Spiderman. Ultimate Spiderman relies a lot on being too much of a comedy show more that anything, but the comedy feels too reminiscent of Family Guy style cut away gags, which don't contribute anything to the story at all. The only time it worked, at least for a bit, was with the episode with Deadpool. It doesn't keep any depth with the characters like the way Spectacular did. The rogue gallery of Ultimate feels like their just their as guys for him to fight. It doesn't keep any depth in the villains either.

Things I disagree on: I didn’t mind the change in artstyle. I thought the new voice actors did fine, and I didn’t couldn’t even tell the difference between DeeDee’s voice actors. Dial M for Monkey and The Justice Friends were actually phased out in Season 2. I thought the anime-styled villain was a nice touch (although I didn’t like Peepers getting tortured). I also thought that the “A X Cartoon” episodes gave she show a little more variety. You said you didn’t like how Dad was handled in the later seasons, but then you praised him in at least two different episodes. If they had revealed in the cheating episode that Mom and Dad were just playing a game, they would have had to give a big infodump at the end.

I was not expecting to hear U. N. Owen was Her near the end of the video, to be honest, but I guess I got a few answers out of the main content of this review. I always wondered why the series went down and not-so-funny with the new style, but I guess I learned something, even if this is a review. Still, unexpected music choice near the end. Not bad; just unexpected.

I don't know what your talking about I love dextor and I still do, in fact because of the show I tried creating a similar story when I was a kid, of course back then my writing was garbage and now I cant even follow the story but I still have good memories of it like when the main character attempts to kill a spider with a laser gun only to realize he never build a laser gun and fires bubbles instead, or the part where he tries to ruining his brothers life by dying his brothers teeth blue for picture day, I wish I could remember more than that but I was young, my point is dextor is awesome and nothing you say will change that

Bro...please do not let your nostalgia get the best of you. I also loved the show when I was younger, but most if not all the things he pointed out were accurate. The change of creator and voice actor very rarely impacts a series in a positive way. This case is no different. If you don't mind me asking when is the last time you watched a later episode of Dexter's Laboratory? It has probably been a while right? See what happens is we remember a show as a child, and because we liked that show all we recall are the fond memories and enjoyment said show brought. If we ever re-watch or marathon that series in the future, while we have matured a bit, then we can usually see where the quality drops. This is often due to one of the many points made in this video. It doesn't mean you don't like/love the show, it just means you can recognize the flaws. This is what separates the fans from the tards (not calling you a tard of course).

I think your right on that's exactly what he's doing next I'm sure of it. I looked up Action Hank's VA on IMDB and he has worked on a lot of projects. Besides its not like he really hides it THAT well at the end of this video.

Not to mention Barbequor was supposed to be reviewed about being banned. For U see in 2004 that episode was banned from Airing in USA Canada Latin America & UK due to Silver Spooner being considered a stereotype of gay men Krunk getting drunk in the end & a potential Copyright Infringement of Silver Surfer by the creators of Marvel Comics as they viewed Silver Spooner as misuse however that episode was pulled and deleted from being on DVD on Season 1 and was replaced with "Dexter's Lab: A-Story" in subsequent airings as well as being on DVD in Season 1 region 4.

I honestly don't think he nitpicked just to find fault, but he nitpicked because maybe the faults in the second run were too overwhelming for him and he couldn't ignore it. These "nitpicks" might've just ruined the second run for him. I genuinely liked the second run, however I did like the first run a lot more.

6:13 Another problem with that: If he's supposed to be Dexter's equal, than shouldn't he have had something like the Full Body Makeover machine? Maybe there's something Mandark's not telling people. 8:08 Captain Hardon (Since he looks like Captain Harlock and his actual name is practically impossible to spell) I actually had a problem with. What would he possibly gain from destroying Koos Land? I mean The Empire destroying Alderaan in Star Wars made sense because Leia was withholding Rebel secrets and by destroying it, her spirit is crushed. Captain Hardon doesn't even give a reason for destroying it outside of the fact he's evil.

I liked the thing at the end with Actionhank and the pony... Good idea, Watcher! :)

I was checking the new Dexters Lab IDW series. The main plot was interesting. But my only complain was that they went with the cartoon look of the second run rather than the first I always felt the first run was more detailed while the second look cheap and limited.
