John Fogerty has one of the greatest voices in rock and roll history. He started out as a drummer, having to raise his voice over the drum set. He developed into a powerful singer and also a great guitar player. He's also a very nice and likable person.

John Fogarty did a lot of the work on CCR's music. When he left the group he had to go to court to be able to do some of his own work in concert. He's awesome in concert also. His song Center Field is a baseball opening season stable. He's just good.

John Fogerty's signature voice is one of the most distinctive sounds in rock-n-roll history. His songwriting skills are just as important for driving the unique songs of both Credence Clearwater Revival and his own solo career. We still haven't heard you react to him with CCR in two classic numbers, LOOKING OUT MY BACKDOOR and RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE. And there is a video of a performance with the Fairfield Five gospel group from his album Blue Moon Swamp that deserves your attention. The song is ONE HUNDRED AND TEN IN THE SHADE. It literally paints a picture of old southern summer heat and musical thirst of hard it was to work in the fields. It made that ice cold lemonade worth the wait. Amber might remember those long gone days from her youth. Another suggestion, John Mellencamp- PAPER IN FIRE.

Listened to an interview with Fogerty about how he was sued after leaving CCR and recording on his own. He suit said he was “copying” CCR and the suit was seeking to stopping the sale of the album. When he was questioned he just said I wasn’t copying anyone, that’s me, how I make music. It’s what I did with CCR and still do. (Paraphrasing the comments here. ) Don’t recall the outcome of the suit. But, there is no doubt about who Fogerty is and what his music sounds like, it unique and quite wonderful!

A little background on Johnny Winter. Born in Texas, he briefly played with Jimmy Hendrix in the early 60's before they became famous. He lived in Mississippi with Muddy Waters for many years right near Highway 61. He was an albino and just recently passed away. He is a well deserved member of the Texas Blues and Rock and Roll Hall's of Fame. If you want to experience his versatility, check out the mandolin on Too Much Seconal from his Still Alive and Well album.

Part of the reason John went "solo" was a dispute with CCR's record label. Afterward he started achieving success with his new label, the old record label sued him claiming he was infringing on the copyrights of CCR by sounding so much like them. He argued that he wrote and sang most of CCR's music, so the "sound" was his even if the old record label owned the copyrights for CCR's songs. It cost him a lot of money, but the courts ruled in his favor, saying that to rule otherwise would be tantamount to preventing from practicing his trade.

Well as I've pointed-out here before, Fogerty and CCR hail from Berkely California here in the Bay Area. BUT THAT is what is so AMAZING: How can someone from the cosmopolitan Bay Area sound LIKE THEY GREW-UP ON DA SWAMP? By the way, since you probably don't know because you two don't seem to know, well, ANYTHING, is that ''The Old Man'' is a name for the Mississippi River. ''Old Man River''. SO now that you have learned your lesson of the day, give this a listen again. It sounds like Fogerty is talking about how river denizens have to flee when the ''Old Man'' rises and FLOODS as it often has.

There's so many ways you can go with this guy. I'll go with this one. John said he always wanted to be a one man band . So this wasn't the first time he dabbled in the studio to record every instrument. After the break up he did a solo album that he called The Blue Ridge Rangers. I think he used seven different instruments. He didn't get very good reviews on it from the critics so he set it aside and moved on. Story line #2 John is the only man alive that played both half time shows on Thanksgiving day. First he played at the Dallas cowboys half time , and one second after he was done he was running to the awaiting chopper and he didn't even unstrap his guitar. Then they flew him to the airport, and then jetted him up to Detroit, and they had a camera man go with him with updates while in transit. They landed at the airport where a chopper was awaiting, then flew him directly to the lion den and landed on the field. When he jumped out of the chopper he still had his guitar on his shoulder, ran up the steps, and took the stage plugged his guitar in and did the first song , it was perfect timing . Two halftime show' s in the same day. It had never been done before , and it never will again. The End.

This song makes you feel like your way out in the woods sitting around a camp fire and playing music with your friends and family. Also I hope yall have a wonderful Christmas.. Have yall heard of the band Bread? They are a early 70's band. I think you would like them there like a soft rock. The words to there songs tell a story you can get lost in the words. If is a great one, Diary, Guitar Man. Keep on what yall are doing I'm a fan..

100% John Fogerty. This is all him, every sound you hear. Great artist. He's from California.

Fun fact: In the 1980s, Saentz/Fantasy sued Fogerty for supposedly plagiarizing his own "Run Through the Jungle" - a CCR song to which Fantasy owned the publishing rights - with his solo hit "The Old Man Down the Road." A jury decided in Fogerty's favor.

When I have a rare bad day like today, one of the first things I do is look up one of your new reactions - and sometimes even old ones. Your love and knowledge (and desire to learn) of music is infectious as opposed to others who do reactions that seem more like they just want to be seen and who interrupt constantly (one does it after about every 30 seconds). You wait and jump in at just the right times (to me, at least). So thanks for brightening some days

I only got to see John Fogerty perform live once, but it was memorable. He played one of his biggest hits, “Centerfield” before a NY Yankees game at Yankees Stadium on a baseball bat guitar. You should check that song out, you’ll love it. Especially Jordan, being a coach.

I think I'd call the style "swamp rock". Although Fogerty is a California boy and was not actually "Born On the Bayou", it's clear that the bayou is where his musical heart lies.

When CCR broke up, their record label kept the copyrights. This song, on a different label, is just a lyrical rewrite of Run Through the Jungle with the same melody. The original record label sued him and lost in court, but Fogerty's countersuit to recover legal fees was unsuccessful.

Guys, John C. Fogerty is not only one of the most iconic voices in rock, and one of the greatest songwriters, and performers, he is still out there doing it and hasn't missed a lick. I saw him about four years ago in Cincy with ZZ Top, and the Old Man Down the Road still has it. If he comes to a venue near you, by all means go see him, you will not regret it.

John Fogerty was sued by CCR, which he founded, wrote almost all the songs for, sang and played lead. It’s a long, weird story, but the quick version is that this song sounds similar to “Run Through The Jungle” by CCR. He wrote both!! John gave up rights to CCR songs to get out of the band. There’s more, that’s the gist, but it should be noted that Fogerty v Fantasy was settled in the US Supreme Court!!!

It's crazy. The singer/songwriter/lead guitarist for a band having to explain why his solo work might sound similar! I remember he sat in court with a guitar explaining how he went about writing songs.
