Is This One Of The UK's Most AMAZING Locations? Alport Castles - Peak District National Park
Back for another Peak District adventure, this time at the fantastic location of Alport Castles, one of the UK's most amazing locations.
This is potentially the largest landslip feature in the UK at over half a mile long, its a very interesting and historical area.
After my adventure to Alport Castles with some great scenery and informative aerial footage I took at walk across to Westend Moor to go to the Trig point there.
Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoy the video!!

WOW!!! Thats all I can say. I have watched a few videos on Alport Castles but this shows some absolutely superb footage in comparison and everything you need to know. All in under 10 minutes too as some of the videos drag on and repeat themselves too much haha. Thank you very much for a fantastic watch 😊

Hellooooo to both of you!! Yeah was a very nice day, lots of low mist and fog to drive into the Peaks and almost thought it wasn't going to be very good for filming. But bits started clearing as I got towards Derwent Reservoir and above so not to bad. Yeah its an amazing place, will go back soon to do some POV of the scramble up to the top of 'The Tower', glad you liked my extra drone footage 😃😉 still getting used to it like but great fun. It was a very boggy walk to the trig, only like 1 n half miles to it I think and elevation wasnt a lot on the map so thought 'yeah got loads of time' but took me about twice as long zig zagging round the bog 🤣 Thanks so much for watching as always you know how much I appreciate it 😊😊😊 Take care both of you and enjoy the rest of 2021 🥳🥳🥳 Chris 🙏🏼💚👍🏻🍻

I'm following 'Walking with Walker' on the PCT 2023. He hasn't got a lot of followers, so I went through those following him. A lady called Kim is following him. I then look at who she is following, and I come across your channel!!! I can see Rambling Rachel, Gazoutdoors, and NHT Norway and wonder with these names why I've not come across your channel. So, in a nutshell, that's how I come to be here. I've been up Alport Castles this year, but unfortunately, it was a very windy day. I was on my way up to Alport Moor to bag the very unremarkable Ethel that is up there. Nothing, just boggy ground. On the way back Alport Castles was still windy sadly. It is one heck of a hije and my furthest so far at 13.08 miles. I'm 61 so that's a long way for me 😂. I'll be back up to bag West End Moor Trig Point again as I've zeroed my Trig list and have started out on the 88 Trig Point Challenge. Like I said previously, I can't understand how I've not seen your channel before, but here I am now. New Subscriber from Stafford England. Quid Pro Quo for a lesser channel just starting out? 😢. Irregardless, I'm here for the duration. Great vlog, great Trig Point. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris!! Huge apologies for the delayed reply things have been a bit mad with work my end this last few days, have just seen your comments! Wow put and hiking at 61, absolutely fantastic Sir good job! Amazing to hear you out having fun and enjoying the great outdoors ☺️👏🏻 I am so glad you came across my channel and even happier that you enjoyed what you saw 😀 The KZread algorithm is a bit of a funny thing haha I get confused with how it all works and don't understand why channels don't get thrown in it sometimes 🤷🏻‍♂️ 13 miles is a great effort and especially battling the winds, just means you will have to go back 😁 THANK YOU so much for the support and subscribing I honestly appreciate it so much!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 I noticed you have some videos yourself so I have gave your channel a sub too and will check out some of your vids over the next few days etc. Once again thank you for your support and for a fantastic comment. Here's to sharing many adventures together and I hope you continue to enjoy my videos! Take care... Chris 😊👍🏻👍🏻

@theheightoflife thank you so much for the quid pro quo, Chris. I'm a small channel, just enjoying life. I'll never get monetised and not interested in that really, just want to connect with like-minded people who enjoy hiking. KZread has me in Afghanistan, so I'll never make a penny anyway. I haven't got a clue why as I've never been there. All my settings say England. But the glitch in the matrix is there for good, it seems. Oh, well. If the channel gives me memories to look back on, then that's good enough for me. I don't know if I said this already, but a year ago, I couldn't even get up Mam Tor. Overweight and post covid. I left the first vlog up there to inspire others, but I cringe at 1 & 2, especially 2, as the wife made me take her penguin up there. It's really cringeworthy, but I did it. Anyway, have a great weekend.

Hi!! Thank you so much for the fantastic comment 😃🙏🏼👍🏻 The Peak District is a great area, this was in the 'Dark Peak' area with a lot of moorland and gritstone and it was very interesting to see potentially the UKs largest landslip feature! If you would like to see a different area of the Peak District called the 'White Peak' area which is a lot more green and limestone then please feel free to check out my latest video on 'The Dragons Back'. This is a very historical and educational area with 2 of the most iconic hills in the Peak District. During the Carboniferous period they used to be reef knolls under a tropical sea and there are some great exposures of Gigantoproductus fossils 👍🏻 Amazing! Glad you liked my aerial footage thank you so much and there is more in the Dragons Back video I told you about if you were interested 😃 I hope you have a great rest of your week 😊😊 Take care... But, didnt think it was very sensible to try especially as everything was slippy and ive only just started going out again really. There will be other times though... I know exactly what you mean with the sitting. Might be a different thing 🤔 as my hip issue is my hip flexor not the joint if thats what yours is, but sitting too much makes it flex for too long then hurts and have to stretch it more. Hope you get out on a hike and it starts feeling better 🙏🏼🙏🏼 It was good yeah thanks and hope you did too 🎄🥳😊😊

Hopefully can keep increasing things as I go now 🙏🏼🤞🏻🙏🏼 Wanted to do some POV of the scramble up the tower too but didnt think it was sensible to even try atm. Ill be back though at some point and hopefully can check out grains in the water too then 👍🏻 Thanks so much mate 😃 was surprised I still manged to do it before Christmas with my content being a bit 'different' so to speak over the last couple of months. But felt great when I got it, only a little thing but means a lot that people seem to enjoy the videos 😊 you know the crack. I hope you had a greatl Christmas too mate and didnt work too hard! Really hope you have a fantastic 2022 full of adventures 🏕⛰🥳 ATB... Chris

Hi Shell & Pete!! Thanks so much 😃😃 Yeah well Alport Castles was going to be my next planned camp after my last Peak District camp, then my back went lol. So thought id make it my first day hike, plus the way I went it was a very simple and easy walk really so didnt have too many steep parts or anything. Bet it was amazing to be there after lockdown! Glad you liked the dront footage and yeah got the Mini 2 I was after. Had a bit of money from the coffee page and then just put the rest to cheer mysef up lol. Only got it the other week so still trying to get used to it, but cant wait to get it in the mountains in the Lakes 👌🏻 I cant stress enough how much I have appreciated all of your kind words, support and encouragement with my channel this year and then my injury too 🙏🏼🙏🏼 really honestly means such a lot and im so happy you enjoy the footage. Cant wait to share your 2022 adventures too and wish you both a very happy new year 😊😊👍🏻👍🏻💚💚🥳🥳 Take care both and enjoy the rest of 2021!.. Chris

Hey!! It sure is 😃 do love the Peak District and only saw a couple and a solo hiker the whole day while I was there. It was early in the day the Tuesday before Christmas so maybe everyone else was shopping haha. Thanks so much for the kind words and support, I had my serious back injury on 1st Nov so content has been a bit scattered since then just trying to get something up. But, should be able to get back out 'properly' now after another life hurdle ive had to deal with since new year. So hopefully consistency will return with my adventures and the channel! Thanks again for your patience and of course the sub!! 🥰🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I will check out your channel too when im back home. Take care ... Chris 🤜🏻💚🤛🏻

It is a real nice loop, even if you go straight round to Jacobs Ladder after Brown Knoll. I just went upto Kinder Low as its not to far out the way. Hope you enjoy that walk or any other you may do when you go out!! @@adventurewithbernie Ahh I het ya... well when I first got mine I took it to my local park, big open area and went very early in the morning so noone would be there, only to have a little practice with the controls. But as I live within 5KM of Birmingham Airport I was in a 'no fly zone' so wouldn't even let me take off 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 Had to drive to another park out of rhe no fly area lol. I could do another licence to be able to unlock the code to fly it but no point as ill only be using it in the locations I go really and they're all fine as long as you stay within the height rules etc. Mad with all the laws for drones, luckily as I got the Mini 2 its under 250g so can fly it 'easier' than the drones over 250g etc. Hope you like any further aerial footage I put in my vids over the next year etc. The Lake District, Wales and Scotland is what im looking forward to most

Hi Brad!! Thanks so much for watching my video 🙏🏼🙏🏼 im glad you liked it 😊 I parked in Bridge End car park in Upper Derwent Valley next to Derwent Reservoir then its a nice simple route from there. Its 3.4 miles and will take around 1hr 40 mins if you keep going and arent filming haha. Easily 2 hours if you stop a few times to take some photos and admire the views etc. There are a few routes to Alport Castles but I went the most simple way as ive been out of action for a few months with a pretty bad back injury so easing myself back into things 👍🏻👍🏻 Hope this is helpful anything else you would like to know please send me a message or find me on Instagram if you have that 😊 Hope you enjoy your weekend mate 👍🏻 ATB.... Alport Castles is on my ‘to do’ list and has been for a while. Was it very boggy up on the moorland? I was considering doing it in the summer when it’s a bit drier. Thanks for the video, amazing views and scenery x

Hi Rachel! Awesome you should definitely do it, really great place. Actually round Alport Castles wasn't to bad at all, ive seen it a lot worse. But about half a mile after enroute to Westend Moor Trig point it got very boggy then. Had to zig zag round the bog diverting off into the moors a bit so took me twice as long lol. Just to Alport Castles and back though wasnt anything too bad bog wise anyway. Rocks were slippy though so take that into consideration when you select the conditions you want to go in 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks so much for watching as always 😊😊x
