Hey Chris, we were so pleased to see this video pop up, great to see you back out there hiking mate😊🙏. We really loved this video, that opening scene, some very slick editing, and the drone shots over the dragons back, wow!🥰🐉. This looked like a tricky route with all that mud and slippy rock😳, clearly you were loving it regardless though⛰👍😊. Some really different scenery there, liking the geological info too, nice touch👌. Glad to see you made it back down in one piece! Can't wait for the next one😊👏. Take care and have a great week, Shell and Pete

Hi Shell & Pete!! Thank you both so much for an awesome comment and watching my video as always 😊 Tried a few little things here with this one so glad you liked it and liked the drone footage 😀 Parkhouse Hill was pretty bad to be fair with the very slippy mud on the limestone, dont think ive been on mud that slippy for as long as I can remember to be honest, a lot worse than the gritstone felt at Alport Castles. Still though, awesome walk for sure! Really glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much again for taking the time to watch 👍🏻😊💚🙏🏼 Have a great week both 😀 ATB... Chris

Love a good dragons back and looking forward to seeing this one too 🐉 Everywhere is so slippery atm, we are just in now Kat went down once and I must have dossed it about 4 times lol! Good tip on the ice spikes ⛰👍 Cracking footage and editing as always, loved it, beautiful green space! Loved the geology information 🦕 🦖 👌 maybe it should be called the dinosaurs back! hiking poles are an absolute hero, more people should use them 👍 Loved the drone footage mate, very cinematic, good eye and control ❤ 😍 Loved the natural arch, so cool! Yeah it was an absolute joke there with the mud on the limestone, I thought Alport Castles was slippy but nothing like this. But yeah those little Microspikes come in handy for more than snow and ice, although I didnt actually end up using them lol. So glad I took my trecking poles though they helped loads! The dinosaurs back would be a better name yeah haha we need to have a word 🤣 Really glad you enjoyed the footage and the drone footage 😀 still getting used to it but cant wait to get it out in the Lakes 😏 Many thanks as always for watching really appreciate it! Hey mate! Was so buzzing when you released this video! I went into this place so blind, like .. so blind ! Now, the only meaningful information I can provide on top of what you have provided is the hill to the left of the first hill you went up (where we camped) there is a stone circle, which looks like an abandoned building…. Thanks to the local, he told us it is actually a medieval…. GRAVEYARD! Mental! Amazing video, amazing footage! Can’t wait for a camp. Top work pal!

Hi Alex! Thanks mate it was great to be back in the Peaks and in this area too for a change. Parkhouse and Chrome Hills are superb for sure! Might not be the highest hills but they are epic! Really glad you liked the drone footage 😀 it was recorded on the DJI Mini 2 mate. Ive heard the Mini 3 should be out in April, but I got a good deal on this before Christmas plus I know this drone has smashed reviews. Some of the new versions of drones have an issue here and there so wanted to wait till the Mini 3 has been out for a bit. Cant see how they are going to 'dramatically' improve it though to keep ut under 250g to be honest. If you were thinking of one I fully recommend the Mini 2 💯%! Haha thanks mate, tried a few different things with this video so glad you enjoyed it. Take it easy pal and have a great week 👍🏻 Chris

superb this Chris & i really like the fact you've done some research into the area & how the hills were formed..i forget which one it is but in the rock you can actually see the crinoid & coral fossils iv'e some pics somewhere..i find this sort of stuff fascinating & love the idea that area was once a sea & the hills you see today were reefs it's amazing.when i did the same some years back i was blown away with what i was reading..iv'e actually camped on chrome & iv'e done them both twice both ways ,no way is easier than the other lol & as you know they're dam slippy especially in the wet..hows the back fairing hope it's well on the mend & you're back out camping soon tfs mate Andy.

Yeah I like to try and find out about fhe area first where im going if I can to see if there is anything historical or educational about it, this has quite a lot! I love the idea too that it was all under the sea and were reefs, amazing! I did see a few fossil looking bits but wasn't sure. Ill have to try and find your pics if you put them on Instagram, but I have watched your camp video a few times. Would like to camp up on Chrome hill myself one day or somewhere looking at Chrome and Parkhouse Hills. Yeah im so glad I took my walking poles with me on this one lol. I need a night in the tent though I can tell you that for sure!! Its my Birthday next month too on a Friday so really hoping things work out where I can get a night somewhere 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Really glad you enjoyed it like I said and honestly appreciate you watching so much!! I didnt see any dog walkers or that many people to be honest, but this was the thurs before Christmas when everyone else was probably put shopping haha. This area does usually have heavy foot traffic so you will see others for sure, definitely on a weekend!! It can get pretty busy especially on a nice day. You'll love it 😊 x

Thank you so much ladies!! Really glad you enjoyed it and thought it would be good to show you what it was like after you mentioned it to me. Parkhouse was definitely more awkward for sure, Chrome Hill is very straightforward with paths, just Parkhouse you have to do the rocky parts if you want to go up and over it, but you can hit the summit then double back anyway thats what some people do if they're unsure or the conditions arent the best, the you just rejoin where I said I used my poles and carry on up Chrome the same anyway. Hope I can make it 😁😁 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 both so much for watching 😃💯🙏🏼🙏🏼

The Dragons Back is a fantastic hike. Coming off Parkhouse is definitely iffy. I did it in summer, and the shale was still giving way on the way down. It seems we opted for the same muddy bit too. I came down on my back after losing my footing. After that I bought some treking poles. Before that, I was on my ass on most hikes. It's a lot less now, but it still happens occasionally. Great drone footage, Chris, and perfect mus8c along with it. Where do you get your music from? Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this vlog, especially with the geology. It's amazing to think of a tropical sea covering all this area.

Hey!! The Dragons Back is indeed a great place and great hike. It dies have some great history and educational areas too and definitely crazy to think of it all being a large reef Knoll etc under a tropical sea!! I just stood there thinking wow, that's crazy! You can actually find some Gigantoproductus fossils around the area if you know where to look in the rocks, so if you're ever that way again have a look 👀 Treking poles do really help a lot and in multiple ways too, apart from just helping with balance they can be superb 'ground testers' for going off course in the middle of the moors. Some trigs in the Peak District are in the middle of nowhere and depending on the time of year and weather there is a lot of bog you have to go through lol. Especially in the High Peak. Thank you for your comment on the drone footage and I always try my best to time my clip changes etc with the music of I can rather than just random footage. I get my music from Epidemic Sound 👍🏻 Really glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for clicking on the video and watching! ATB... Chris ❤️

@theheightoflife I have hiked in all weather, and yes, the treking poles have been invaluable. Hiking from White Low to Westend Moss , you can put your treking pole down to the handle in the bog, and it is just as bad from Overwood Moss up to Alport Moor, to name a couple. Even Featherbed Top has been a nightmare. I won't go out without them now.

Thanks for the video, Parkhouse Hill looks a bit too steep for me. I have a couple of walks planned shortly, (your fault) - Alport castle and a trip up Kinder by a different route and maybe a trip up to the site of the USAF crash site.

It does have a few steep parts and very slippy with the mud on the limestone. You can go round it though and Chrome Hill isnt quite as bad. Haha hope you enjoy your planned walks, Alport Castles is amazing and a nice easy walk from Bridge End car park by Derwent Reservoir 👍🏻 Both Kinder Scout and the Superfortress Crash site are great walks too. Have fun hope you have a great time when you do them! 👍🏻😊😊 Oh and thank you so much for watching as always 🙏🏼

Hi Maggi!! It was an awesome walk to be fair really enjoyed it and glad I went when I did so it was nice and quiet as it can get like the Great Ridge near Edale wiith 100 people on it lol. The backpack has been sound bit got all the weight going through my hips with the hip belt tight and the shoulder straps quite loose so not really feeling it on my back. I did take a lot of extra care than usual in a lot of parts as I didnt want to chance falling over lol. Been doing very well with my rehab though so felt ok to do this walk otherwise I wouldnt have. Im still going to take extra care for a while when Im out though and probably use my poles more. Really glad you liked the drone footage too 😊😊 Many thanks as always for watching and leaving me an awesome comment 😃👍🏻🙏🏼💚

@the_height_ of_life My pleasure! I too keep all the weight on my hips! I think it's a combination of the backpack and poles that help me! It being winter, i am hurting all over with austio arthritis and today went out without poles and i was in agony except for my back so, the poles help my legs and knees not to hurt so much!
