EDC KEYCHAIN SURVIVAL STOVE - 5 Minute Boil Time!! Very Reliable Trick - Bushcraft Essentials

In this video I'm using the mini EDC keychain survival stove by Bushcraft Essentials, but showing how to use it to be very reliable and get under 5 minutes boil time!!
I have seen some reviews here on KZread with people 'complaining' saying this 'twig stove' is too small and doesn't boil water. Well, I will show you a way that you get a full rolling boil in under 5 minutes with this simple trick.
You're welcome 😉

    That's a fun stove. A few months ago, I used my mini-EDC stove to bake cornbread to go with my dinner. Used the Snow Peak 750 pot with a Fat Daddio's 3"x3" anodized aluminum cake pan and one Esbit tablet. I placed the Snow Peak directly on the stove frame for stability and to concentrate heat and used the stove's crossbars as the spacer between the pot and the cake pan to avoid burning the bottom. I also used a Brien Green Esbit fuel tray to slow the burn of the fuel. I got 18 minutes of gentle burn and a perfectly cooked hefty cornbread muffin. Note -- this was indoors, so I wasn't dealing with wind or outside temperatures. The FireDragon fuel is quite expensive in the U.S. and not generally available. I've tested it before and found its spreading flame to be inefficient, much of it burning outside the stove instead of under the cooking vessel -- especially if a small pot or cup is used. I'm better able to concentrate the Esbit-cube flame and capture more of its heat. Perhaps a deeper vessel to hold the FireDragon fuel would allow similar concentration of the flame. I need to try that. I'm currently looking at key-chain alcohol burners that some have made from mini-flashlights or aluminum or stainless-steel pill containers. Some designs seem to achieve good results with a minimum of fuel, and such a burner should fit well in the mini-EDC. I'm thinking of doing a two- to three-day trip this summer using just the mini-EDC with Esbit and alcohol to see if I can make it work with just-add-hot-water dehydrated meals.

    Hi! 👋🏻 Thanks for watching 🙏🏼😃 It really is a deceiving little stove, small but when used the right way it can be very effective and very reliable when using the Firedragon fuel. You can physically heat water with sticks but it takes a long time and some practice compared to a larger wood burner stove. There are links for it and the fuel cubes in the description if you wanted to have a look 😃👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you for clicking on the video I am happy you enjoyed it 😊😊👍🏻👍🏻 ATB... Chris ✌🏼

    5 minute boil! What's not to like! I can't imagine using something that small as a twigstove. Hey! Thanks for watching 😊😊 Sorry you have had bad experience with the DragonFuel gell leaving soot on your pots. The marks on my pot were from when I had used it over a wood fire before. Using the fuel blocks with this stove and pot or with my BCB stove there is never anything to wipe off. Even if my tissue is a bit damp from drying the inside of the pot and I wipe the outside ive not had any black marks. Very strange its sooty for you it shouldn't be doing that as there are no fumes or toxins to come from it. All 100% natural materials and the blocks are tested for and by the MoD so they shouldnt leave any smells or signatures. Is this the gell you're using and not the fuel blocks in this video? As that may be different to use I dont know, have never used the gell. But have used these fuel blocks for years and haven't had any soot marks 🤔 has stumped me that lol. Glad you can get it off easy in any case 👍🏻 ATB... Chris 😊

    @@theheightoflife i still use them as they are good for gentle cooking opposed to my gas stove that can sometimes burn food because the heat is more concentrated in the middle. I use a full block if i want to boil water faster but if just warming something up or frying its better to use half a block at a time for a less intense flame. I didn't like the liquid gell as i was worried it might split in my bag so have been using the blocks a couple of years and they've always smelt strongly and messed up the pot. I put pots in a bag so they don't touch other gear. I use the gas for most things especially brews so i don't have to keep cleaning my crusader mug and the gell for woodland camp cooking.

  • @theheightoflife

    @theheightoflife

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Kevin!! Yeah it is a cool little stove to be fair, there are some little holes in the top of the panels so although it tries to centralise the heat they do let parts of flame come out to hit all round the bottom of the pot. But certainly keeping it in more of a controlled manner. I wouldn't say better, I think they're both great (bcb stove usually boils fast too when not in those extra windy conditions like my other video) but its lighter, much smaller to pack and carry and really does the job well when used right, flames do seem a bit more controlled. You can physically heat water up with sticks but dont takes a bit of practice and dont expect it to do it quick lol. But with the Firedragon fuel then its brilliant I think. Wow that's great!! I have 9 bushboxes altogether and 3 of them are Lixada. They make some really cool kit. I've never used anything but wood in them and can get water to boil using twigs with this key chain stove if you have experience with correct loading etc. It does take a while though as this is the smallest Bushbox stove I've got by far haha. Did this video as I was fed up of seeing people moaning about it on reviews saying they can't get water to boiling point as its 'too small' and 'not possible' etc. But they way they were attempting it didnt help. Thought this may make people's lives easier 😂😂 Thanks so much for watching and keep enjoying your stoves and the great outdoors 😃🙏🏼👍🏻💚 ATB.... Chris

    Is it a Firedragon stove?

    No as shown and mentioned, this is a Bushcraft Essentials EDC Key chain stove. A 'mini version' of their firebox. It can be used as a 'twig stove' and feed twigs in the same as you would feed wood into a normal Bush box but too many people here on KZread saying it takes too long and they couldn't get a rolling boil with it. I just showed this little 'trick' using the Firedragon fuel of how you can use the EDC stove to get a rolling boil in under 5 mins. Everything used all fits inside the mug and into my pocket so a great EDC pocket cookset. Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼👍🏻😊

    @@theronin365 Haha no worries it's all good! Bushcraft Essentials do some really cool stoves if you were after a fire box. Their larger ones can be a little more expensive than some of the others like Lixada for example, but they are super quality and the bigger ones are much easier to 'build'. THANK YOU for being a loyal subscriber I honestly do appreciate it very much 🤜🏻💓🤛🏻 Hope you enjoy your weekend whatever you may do 🙏🏼😊 ATB... Chris ✌🏼
