im 29 from nottingham, been hiking in the peaks since 18, you have a great personality and your enthusiasm is infectous, reminds me of me when im out in nature, just feel alive, happy and at peace.

The 'path' you took down is Grindsbrook clough, I've only ever walked up it, going down must of been tough on the knees. It used to be the start of the Pennine Way (before moving to Jacobs Ladder) which you can appreciate would of been really hard work with a full pack! A lot of the slabbed sections are relatively new, the erosion was getting too much but its a great area to walk . Great vid, thanks for making it.

WOW! Memories of May 1979 when I walked the whole of the Pennine Way in 14 days. IF you ever go again, I strongly recommend that you take along Wainwrights guide to the Pennine Way - he gives superb descriptions of the beginning of the walk up to Kinder Scout. Thanks for taking me along. Your film was brilliant and I loved the rock hopping on the way down.

Did this last year, straightforward to Kinder Low and onto Kinder Downfall. Lost path across the top back towards Grindslow Knoll and missed the route down you found. Interesting and slow walking across the bog which was fortunately not too wet as weather had been dry for a week or so. Regards to car parking have found membership of National Trust more than pays for itself by savings as members can park free, especially useful in Lake District.

Love scrambling up that brook. Definitely harder going down it. I love this walk, done it numerous times. Do try and do it in week though as it's much quieter.

Hello Abbie.. Yes when the weather is like that it makes life hard. But we do get on with what we are doing and do our best. You need to stay safe and not take chances out there. The weather is one i do look at and would take a chance even if it is a small predicted storm. Even they can be hazardous at times. The Pennine Way is beautiful when the weather is nice but not one i have done but have seen it many times on video and TV. I cannot go alone no more for a while but would love to have you and a friend of yours with me anytime.. Regards Mick from Hampshire.. Xx

Brilliant film! I am a member of the fly fishing club that own the rights to the river. I feel very privileged to be able to negotiate the beautiful river all the way up to Edale. Utterly stunning place!!

Hi I managed two miles up The Pennine Way just past Jacobs Ladder but couldn’t go any further as it was too steep. I did however find the woodturner Robin Woods workshop which had been the reason for my walk. I live near Bucklebury where bowl turner George Lailey worked until the 1958. Robin uses the same type of lathe.

Love Beech Croft Farm, some lovely walks straight off the site as well. I based myself there on 14th to 15th Oct while camping on my motorbike, to ride the wonderful Peak District roads. It was really wet on the camping field while I was there, keep the video's coming 😉 OH and there's a lovely camp site in Hayfield (caravan and camping I believe), and also a load of free parking on the road down to the reservoir. Access up to Kinder is a fabulous walk past the reservoir and up William Clough.

Great Video!! loved it!, That would be one cool mountain bike trail, must go there, I only live 30 mins from Kinder, on the Northern side!

GO ABBIE!! You just reminded me of one of my favourite days, cycled out of mancs on peak forest canal, (incredible views) then meandered across from Whaley Bridge to Edale. That was the day i coined the phrase 'HYCLE' when you walk more than cycle due to hills and camping gear on your bike. i think you drove in on the road i cycled, where u can see the whole valley. OMG moment for me, right up there with Niagara falls and Yosimite. i didnt do the kinder scout hike, as i was only equipped for minimum weight cycling. shorts/T shirt/sandals. allthough the nutter in me was tempted. ive had it in mind to go back for years. Now i find myself with a 6 year old child that i'd like to get up ben nevis by her 10th birthday. kinder scout will be one of several hikes to see if its possible for her to do a proper mountain day hike. so what r u waiting for? i hear u all say. The summer. doing what you do on here Abbie is what i call 're inspiring' me. its not like i didnt know Edale was there, sometimes we just need a reminder. I have to say from the start of your vid i said, "should have camped in the valley itself" but its easy to be wise after the event. i pretty much found Edale by accident. and then stopped in the handy big campsite near the pub. as we did before the internet. but enough about me, keep doing what you do. and we'll all keep watching. Keep going Abbie! I did the same walk, but in reverse, two years ago when I was 70. Hoping to do Kinder again later this year, but from the Hayfield side. If you keep it up, apart from injury, you will still be hiking at my age. Have you tried a muffler for your camera? Makes a big difference. But you could certainly get an idea of the conditions from the sound of the wind. Best Wishes!

I walked from Edale to mam tor and i had to stop a few times as i kept running out of breath due to it being steep.

Done this today after watching the video last night then done a quick mam tor to losehill pike and back...great videos..keep up the good work and stay strong!

I've enjoyed this video and it's made me determined to get to kinder scout this year. Tried it last year but wind and rain pushed us back on last day of holiday .

Really loved watching your video Abbie. I have only ever done The Roaches and Mam Tor so it was great seeing what else is out there. I would love to go back to the Peak District again one day.

Hey Abbie, I’ve just come across your channel and watched your Peak District videos (will get through some others too). I’m now a subscriber 👍🏼 The Peaks is somewhere I head out to every month for a hike and have done the walk that you were “meant to do” here, only the opposite way round. I have recently done another around Kinder in which I climbed up Grindsbrook Clough which you came down, I’m not sure I’d fancy coming down it... On this walk though we headed round to Kinder Downfall. If you ever do Kinder again after wet weather, I’d advise diverting to Kinder Downfall, it’s a great spectacle. I have a vid on my channel if you ever look at other vids. I’ve done a similar walk to your Back Tor and Derwent Edge video too. Many many great walks all over the Peak District. Keep up the great vids 👌🏼

Grindsbrook clough? its lovely to see, avoid at all costs (esp down it). the hill next to it, Grindslow Knoll has a fairly decent path up which is much much better both up and down and starts and ends in pretty much the same places. btw dont get disheartened how easy it is to get disoriented on the moors, its easily done, even by those that think themselves experienced, this type of terrain is deceptively tricky, and you should never stop respecting it. A compass and the ability to use it in the field are very useful things to have when you are in terrain like this. just did a circuit of the plateau, 26km ish, tiring, but so amazing on a clear day, esp the north edge of the plateau.

Hi, I’m new you your channel and this is the first I’ve seen in my back garden. Did you ever make it back to the Peaks? Navigating on Kinder can be tricky. Using a compass bearing to find the centre where there’s noting but moor land on the horizon 360 and coming out the other side at Kinder Downfall is very rewarding though. Have you ever thought of the Pennine Way, it seems to be missing from your tours? Enjoying the vlogs👍

I wish I had watched this video before my first trip to Kinderscout last weekend. I had the exact same experience. Always losing the patg, knee deep in bogs and peet and overall, it was such a miserable walk. It reminded me a lot of Dartmoor once I hit the peaks. Not a horrible place by any means but definately my least favourite peak so far.

going off piste across the plateau is tricky, you soon learn what plants grow on the boggy areas, after you've ended up arse deep in a bog a few times..... :)

Great walk i do this walk regular only live 25 miles away tip next time do it in reverse and dont go to Kinder Scout summit its a big bog that,s all

When I did this route, I took it the opposite way round from you. I can’t imagine going down the brook, I thought it was hard enough going up it ahah! You can watch it on my channel :) Great video!

Many people get lost in the middle of kinder, even with a map and compass. A lot of people dont know how to use them and they walk around in circles without even realising while trying to avoid peat bogs and deep marsh land. Then when its foggy and you cant see 20 meters in front of you....that's where the problems start and people walk over the edges 😂

Areas like these are actually environmental disaster zones Abbie. They used to be vast forests. Hence the peat.

The thing is love, your in't North now, real country. OK, you have pastures and the like down south, but when it comes to REAL walking country, the scabby North has it all!

My neck of the woods!, and a favourite place. I took my girlfriend up and she hated it. Think I need a new girlfriend haha

Love your travels and videos Abbie but have to say your carbon footprint has to be somewhat high with all the miles that you drive!

Yes I am VERY mindful of my impact whenever not shooting (and even when shooting) - perhaps obsessively so (according to friends/family). It is an issue very close to my heart. Thanks for raising the subject :)
