@@FrameCounting hey, I have a question. does dsx adds input lag on pc or not? because some games do not support the PS5 controller on Steam, for example, Tekken 8 supports Xbox/PS4/PS5 controller natively, but sf6/gbvr only supports the Xbox controller natively. Is using the DSX app a good choice compared to Steam Controller Input? what is your opinion ?

I've been using the normal dual sense for about 6 months and at first I also thought that the dpad was lousy compared to the one on Ps4 which really must be the best dpad ever. but after a few months I got used to the new shape and now I control it precisely just like with the one on ps4 and due to its shape it makes it easier for me to do various things in fighting games like Korean backdash and wavu wavu for example.

PS pads are awful. The actual best of any regular current gen console is the Switch Pro controller one, that's an actual DP. Second best would the Xbox one. There's a reason why professional gaming controller manufacturers do copy the Xbox design all the time but never the PS one.

@@athena9029 The overall design of the PS4 controller makes it infinitely better then other first party pads for me. I use the last 3rd of my thumb, so the overall shape of the Dpad doesn't matter quite as much as the shape of the controller itself. Due to the controller being on the thinner side I can really get my thumb in a comfortable position where I don't feel like I may drop the controller. I've run into some thinner 3rd party pads that also work well, but every first party has been moving towards thicker controllers because of hand feel when using sticks 2 handed.

Your video is very underrated. The polling rate is something Sony needs to use to justify the price of their pad makes it worth it alone and you're the only who's mentioned that advantage so far. Kudos 👏

Domed stick caps are for rolling your thumb over it in order to move the analog while aiming, and they are also more comfortable for holding the analog stick in one direction for a long time, like walking foward. A concave stick cap (the other kind that isn't domed) is meant to be held by the edge, like you demonstrate in the video, and some consider this sub-optimal for aiming. Technically the one in your video is more of a hybrid, or "flat", with a raised ridge. True hybrid stick caps combine a small convex dome in the center with raised outer edges.

Nah, I like both concave. Only on the right one, the aim stick, I like to have to tall one. That really helps w/ aim a lot and find it to actually be more comfortable to hold.

Default Dualsense sticks are in fact "true hybrid", slightly convex in the center, it's just hard to notice on camera.

How do you compare it to the hybrid xbox dpad? And also how do you test input lag? I am connecting my xbox controller to my ps5 through a brooks converter and I wanted to find out how much lag there is.

I have a wide variety of game controllers for retro consoles and modern. I’ve tried the diagonal test on all of their d pads and every one of them has false diagonal input to a certain extent. I find 8bitdo to have the best d pads.

Do you have the paddles remapped to down? Is it possible to have multiple buttons mapped to same input? For example, I like to have r1 mapped to the dpad forward button for easy electrics.

mainly a platformer (not fighting) player here looking for a good d-pad (especially for fast-paced games with a lot of inputs, such as Pizza Tower), this review was still very helpful. i need a lot of precision in my d-pad, but my main issue with d-pads such as this one isn't actually the misinputs, but how the d-pad rubs on your thumb. i'd rather avoid getting a callus on my thumb if possible, and the rubbing also gave me a slight pain. i do like the layout of the dualsense controllers too, and it's such a huge shame that i have to choose between ergonomics and calluses. i'm going to check out more of your reviews to see if i can find what i'm looking for. it seems there's a lot of overlap between what fighting game players and precision/fast platformer game players want. also holy crap input delay on the edge is absurd.

I'm not a Tekken player, but with 8 coming out, I'm going to be picking it up. So, Korean back-dash. It there an easier way to pull it off using a controller like this? Using the back paddles/lever/buttons for example?

The polling rate is 1000hz, but is that just on pc, is it still 1000 on ps5 or is it fixed on ps5, someone said only get 1000 if use it on a pc...is that right ?

I have blue regular dual sence controller. I think they fixed dpad. Because I don't have same issues as you had with your white regular dual sense. I want to get pro controller anyways but I am waiting for new colors

Im not sure if i just had a moment but since i turned ps5 communication to usb it has made a world of difference in response time for the regular dual sense

I have so many questions I play Mk1 so if I may ask is this controller good for like back forward special commands? Cause I slide my thumbs on the dpad like crazy but I get a lot of input errors cause I play on the dual sense original.

Will there be any drift like the regular model? My regular controller is already drifted and wanting to buy a new controller. I’m interested in this one but still skeptical about the drifting might happen again on this model.

U can swap out the sticks if u did drift. The sticks are not that expensive. About $20 I think

Hi FG, firstly thanks for your videos. Really helpful. I use the dual sense for SF6, but im now currently on my 3rd controller due to dpad eventually wearing out. Ive been also looking at the victrix bfg, but after watching this video im starting to think the Edge mihht be the best bet for me. Obviously, spending £200 on a controller is a big risk, making 6oyr videos super important (no pressure 😅). I guessmy question is simply, do you think the Edge would be my best choice?

Yeah, I picked one up and I'm really happy with it. It's true what you said about the dpad. The cutout being smaller really creates a more rigid dpad. My favourite feature so far is the trigger travel adjustments. Plus, the build quality is really nice. You are literally the only person on the Internet who went into depth on the dpad from a fighting game perspective. Thank you for your service ❤

I'm here after buying the victrix bfg POS and yes, I'm pissed. $200 down the damn drain. My biggest complaint is the shitty input delay. Why does my DS5 perform faster wireless? Guess I'm burning another $200 plus on the Edge. Thank you!

Someone needs to start making 8-way d-pads finally. Or 6-way, with diagonals only for down directions. I can't stand the lottery for good rubber in the membrane anymore :(

What made the PS4 controller's dpad great while the PS5 one is so bad? What's the main difference that made it feel so much worse?

you hould do a bit of a revision for the Hori Fighting commander octa, maybe de PS version, since the issue why you didn´t like that controller is solved with a firmware update on the xbox version, and by default on the PS version, it will not become one of your favorites jajaja, but is nowhere near a bad pad for fighting games in my opinion, and in general i respect your opinion for it

Is the 1000Hz polling rate on PC only? Or is it 1000Hz on PS5 by default.

How would you rate this D-pad, vs a modified split d-pad on the original dual sense? Is it worth it to get the edge?

@@FrameCounting it seems like the DualSense D Pad is more of a Gel Feeling, which is more comfortable than a Plastic D Pad.

I wonder how it compares to the DS4. I've used that a lot for tekken and simply loved it.

I bought a second hand ds5 and so far it felt the same except it's a bit stiffer and heavier My b2 loops,DSS,and KBD felt the same over time. I guess people complain easily and not consider to adapt. Overall the DS5 is ok and I'll be using it for Tekken 8

I love the Chroma for SF6

There is huge downside to this controller: You cannot use back paddles/buttons on PC, you must own PS5 console and set it up Otherwise i might consider this controller as one of most suitable controller for SF6 due to the paddles/back buttons (you can remap drive impact/parry), the lowest latency ever seen (less than 1 ms which sounds incredibly low), Playstation shape/form factor (many Street Fighter players do actually play on Dualshock/Dualsense controller) I hate this, Sony want closed ecosystem like Apple do?!

Ya, this is why I opted to perform my own rear button mod on a standard DualSense with parts from extremeRate. They also have mods to replace all the membrane buttons with tactile ("clicky") ones, which effectively solves all the problems with the mushy floating d-pad. Even with both mods, it comes out a lot cheaper than an Edge, too...

Sounds great for tekken players.

People are doing competitive plays with og ps5 controller. Imo it's all about thumb precision yes the dpad helps but if your thumb do the right movement accident should not happen. Accidental diagonal can happen on the xbox series x 8 way dpad too

@@SunnyBanerjeePlus you can remap down and left /right for back buttons and combine them like how you do it on d pad . Your fingers are on the d pad for other inputs ...while you combine 2 back buttons for diagonal input . (I buy it by the way dual edge controller ) . You can play modern control and use in other way those 2 back buttons .

Just my incredibly humble opinion... But the Edge is worth it if you're not a pro or actively competitive player. There's a LOT you can do with it. Lots of options. It's fkng expensive for sure. But it's a great controller for the everyday player.

I will never understand why people dont like when dpads behave in this way of triggering a diagonal when pressing a cardinal direction only, its the greatest advantage. It doesnt matter where you press the button you can press the left button as low as you want but still get left-up, it matters in which direction you press it. If you press the left button upwards, up-left will come out, just use the pad like a flat stick.

So just to clarify, the input delay is the same for ps5 as it is on pc?

This is the controller delay. System delay is different. Some people have more powerful machines than others. Also, TVs and monitors affect delay as well.

Dpad sucks for mk1. I get jumps when I don’t want them and don’t get forward jumps when I do want them. I use the stick for street fighter lol the actual analog stick

@@FrameCounting I just got my Wolverine V2 Pro and I'm returning it. Quarter circle motions are much easier on it because of the diagonal buttons, but DP motion inputs are giving me a lot of accidental jumps because up-forward is really sensitive. Guess I can't have it both ways :)

From day 1 my biggest issue with the dual sense was misinputs due to the dpad being one piece. Like you say, I can have my thumb on DOWN alone, wiggle it and get DF or DB inputs. So frustrating. I think I'm just gonna revert back to the PS4 pad for fighters

This or DS4 for playing Street Fighter 6?

After trying out 2 different ones in a 3 month period. No this version of the controller is not worth it! Gets dirty easily and the right back bumper broke on both controllers with very casual use. If they can fix both issues plus make it more affordable, then it could be a decent buy.

It'd gonna be a no for me dog great that it's an improvement on a shxtty design but not enough of an improvement unfortunately. The ps5 controller design fukking sux.

​@@kingkhalid1111Look on the back shell of your Dualsense and you'll find the FCC ID (It'll be a butch of letters and numbers). If the FCC ID doesn't end with A then that means its the older/outdated version of the Dualsense. All the colored ones (Purple, Red, Blue, Pink, Black, Camo etc.), The ones that come with the PS5 from 2022 to now (Either purchased just standalone or with bundle) and the Dualsense Edge are the Newer/Updated versions. Hope this helped 😊

-Cool a ps5 gamepad with good dpad -Me looking at the price of the dualsense edge o.O It is literally waaaaayyyyyy cheaper to purchase the new ps5 fgc brook wingman (when stock is finally available) and use ps4 controllers or any other controller. Sony really fucked up ps5 fighting game players and tournaments that use ps5
