Yes they are.
It sounds to me like their description of a Puma was actually describing a Lynx, since they have they objectively have bigger hind legs comparable to their bodies
They call them critters, "Catamounts." (Cat-o-mounts?)
Um, Pumas, Cougars and Mtn. Lions are all the SAME species! smh!
