Excellent system for the street. Ideally it’s not as easy closing the gap with an experienced fighter, but for the street, the system is excellent for self protection…

This more than meets the with most people. This style has humbled even the most seasoned fighters. I have nothing but respect for everything this art has to offer.

Correction: this style is much more than meets the eye for most people. When your receiving a flurry of these hits in training, you'll understand.

This school is based on Chow Gar southern praying Mantis. Look for any Chow Gar school. I am pretty sure in USA there are Chu Gar and kwongsai SPM school. Any SPM style is good for close quarter attack. They are deadly. That's why they were secret.

Good stuff-, but it seems to me that there's a lot of "kick-boxy"-type stuff mixed in? Which branch of Southern Mantis did Sifu Sue practice? Going by what little I'm able to actually perceive from this video, the expression is much more like Pak Mei (though it is a cousin to Southern Mantis).

Sigung Henry Sue trained in the Chow Gar family of SPM. There's a photo in this video of him accepting his 9th degree master level from his Sigung Ip Shui. Sigung has added/changed a lot of things from the traditional chow gar style, particularly with the incorporation of tai chi. The kickboxy stuff you see is potentially from three places 1. tai chi, 2. higher levels of SPM have low kicks and knees 3. Sigung trains students how to fight against other styles, so even though you may not do a high kick you need to be able to defend against one! Hope that helps!

Yeah, I see now that the kickboxing is separate, as well as the Tai Chi, makes sense, thank you.
