I live in Minneapolis so I began learning southern praying mantis from sifu Jack spizali. The thousands of hours me and my friend training whenever we could. Good times.

I love this style. Hearing all the old terms and seeing the beginning forms takes me way way back.

The guy with the mustache is Sifu Ralph Mitchell. He's one of the guys that trained for my full contact fights. He was one of the few NYC Kung Fu guys that competed full contact back in the day.

he said they start from the top to bottem, that is untrue i study this style and you need to start with a good stance first before moving on to the hands. without a good foundation you cannot expect to perform well in other arias such as hand techmiques and movment.

The Chuka Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu has its genesis from the style of Praying Mantis Kung Fu. The style of Praying Mantis Kung Fu first appeared on these account in the end of the Ming Dynasty (1386-1644 A.D.) . The first Grandmaster of the Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Superior Tung Chan, a superior monk from the Shaolin Monastery, was believed to be one of the brothers of the last Emperor of the Ming Dynasty.

Is it like Wing Chun where the focus is on close range fighting and you keep charging forward, fight and never dodge until the opponent go down? Is there any center principle (using the shortest possible distance) like Wing Chun?

Not exactly similar, like the sticky hands have different directions, e.g. chai sau, garp sau, gau chui, pai sau, kumna jajuk sau, chung chui, gok chui, ..... Though still is clise range , centre principal.
