Excellent system for the street. Ideally it’s not as easy closing the gap with an experienced fighter, but for the street, the system is excellent for self protection…

I wish could have carried on my training under Sifu Henry Sue. I made it to blue level 2 but collected a head injury at work. Told by a neurologist not to take any more hits on the head. I'd trained with some of those people, too.

I've been training Wing Tsun for a few years now, and this video has been one of my biggest inspirations in doing such. Sure it's a different style but God I've always had so much respect and admiration for Southern Mantis.

I like the chained moves. Hard to defend against more than 4 attacks at one instant. One breath, many strikes. The hooking is also very cool. Must be a fun style to practice. Thanks for sharing vid.

Problem is this, you get a burly muscly idiot throwing punches, and you need a lot of power to fight him off....something like Hung Gar or Shaolin (Xiao Hong form techniques) that blocks and hits like a freight train is needed..yes Mantis looks cool but there is not enough power here to stop a really strong opponent...I have studied Wing Chun and the close range chain punches have the similar problem, they are easily side stepped and wiped out but big haymaker punches....look at Choy Li Fut vs Wing Chun in the ring, and Choy Li Fut is powerful and gives very solid attacks without these more lighter slappy moves that Mantis has (no offence, as Mantis is very cool, just saying on the street you may need some serious power). However I am happy to be proven wrong! Peace to all!!
