I am a Forto and my mom’s family is from Isabela Tumawini. They said our family is a bit popular there because one of the churches in Isabel was founded by Father Forto... She never trained me to speak Ibanak but I really want to learn it, I was born and bred here in Angeles but I always go back to my roots. My mom always say this to me though when she’s really worried. Ananuuuuy! Hahah sounds funny but scary too at the same time. I call my French boyfriend IDDU ku. Hehe

In tuguegarao there are few who speaks fluent ibanag. Their language is near killed by tagalog imperialism. Comparing to Isabela majority speaks ibanag. Thanks to DepEd they have a program now in school called MTB-MLE uses local dialect for teaching instead of tagalog to preserve regional languages.

Thank you so much for this. My mom speaks isabelan ybanag but didn’t teach me on purpose because she thought it would be useless for me. I’m trying to listen more to her conversations and I’m learning by myself.

Do you know what kind of differences they are? Is it accent? Pronunciation? I think it will be okay if it's not entirely the same.

+Hannah Simtoco the dialectical differences are apparent in the pronunciation. Tuguegarao is fairly standard and everyone can understand the dialect. Each region has its preferences for specific words or pronunciation... I know some areas like to over do the "f". for example in tuguegarao we say napatu for hot in some places they say nafatu. =)
