I get the same response too, whenever i tell people im from cagayan valley. I also im an itawis not an ilocano(even though i can speak it.). Very good explanation though.

Good morning ≠ mapia nga umma. When you say mapia something is in good condition. It doesn't translate the same way in Ibanag.

General dialect kasi pag sa northern luzon ilocano tlga... 60% na nsa cagayan valley dialect kasi is ilocano... 3rd na most spoken ang dialect ang ilocano sa pinas... Like sa Baguio may kankanaey etc and other indigenous group eh majority ilocano parin... kahit mga igorot nag iilokano din ksi mrami din silang dialect para magkaintindihan sila... Pero atleast you are proud that you are Ybanag
