Intro to Continual Flow - How to Kayak
Фильм және анимация
We take the RK School of kayaking on the road to Kibler Valley. This stretch of the Dan River is an absolute gem of an river. It is dam controlled, roadside and contains the perfect blend of features and current to introduce paddlers to an array of different conditions and situations. P5, Squirrel, Kevin the Wondering Electrician and I take on The Kibler Valley which was generating at 9000kw with some additional flow. It was a perfect introduction to continual flow. This stretch starts the first quarter mile as a light class 3 run, then runs wall to wall as a class 2 river with some light class 3 rapids sprinkled in. Come along, join the fun and learn how to kayak continual flow!

Nice video Pete, good mix of solid advice and sense. in a calm manner. Looks like a nice river for mere mortals rather than the terrorizing water you see on some videos. Great work, keep it up !

Thanks Eric!
This was a fun one to watch, just viewing the subtlety of line in a continuous flow. The voiceover narrative is always nice. I liked the following segments. Pretty nice cinematography considering the modest equipment.

Amazing river and great paddling lessons you are giving. Didn't hear the bell once.
Great stuff man! Especially for new paddlers, it’s motivating and instructional all at the same time.

Thanks Dirk! Once you taste whitewater, you are ruined forever!
good video, I'd like to paddle that some time, looks like a nice flow to that river, have known some others who have paddled it and they seemed to like it and have a good time, this is the first video I remember seeing outside of just posted pics, so it was helpful to see footage of it

Thanks Mike! I agree! It is so fun and encouraging to watch him eat it all up. Really looking forward to some trips we have planned this summer! Sunday's Video is even better. He ran the big stuff at the top complete with a rock splat, rock spin and boof at Sammy's Rock...even placing a boof stroke off the lip and stuck a stroke at the bottom to power out of the hole...Soooo cool.

Is there something like this in WNC?
Hey just an opinion question, if you were going to buy a 9ft creeker/racer would you buy a Jackson Nirvana, Dagger Phantom, or Liquid Logic Alpha 90? I'm leaning Nirvana because of my experience in my Zen 2, but the Phantom is starting to grow on me, and I don't know enough about the Alpha 90 but like the looks of it and MSRP. My biggest runs so far have been Goshen Pass, Ocoee, and New River Gorge. But I'm looking to step it up another notch.

Hey again 1stVARifleman! That is a tough question. Paddling style, desired feel, your size...Truthfully any of them would work. The individual preference is something that makes it all fun. I would recommend trying to demo all of them in real paddling conditions. That is easy to do at the USNWC btw...
are you going to put the water temperature in next week's video?
