Great presentation of some very valuable technical information in this video. You almost certainly have to experience the speed at which it happens to understand it. I would absolutely rather finish a run backwards than flip or swim. You do a wonderful job presenting, breaking down and explaining the information in this video. Thanks for sharing with us!

Disco on the Water going over a tree across the river can be an issue as I found out, I did not completely clear my stern, which the current caught, sweeping the stern and broaching me, flipping me over, and under blink of an eye, took 2 fellow kayakers to push my boat under the tree using all their force, it was pinned to the tree.

A broach is the action of becoming wedged sideways on any obstacle. That can include a strainer such as a tree, or it can be on a rock, etc...

@@RiverKingsKayak sorry I didn't want mean to sound critical ,but I screwed up taking some friends out and taught them how to paddle a canoe without explaining hazards on a couple of 4 and 8 hrs trips they went and rented a canoe with out me and drowned in average 3 ft deep river from a downed tree that had shoured a 12 ft hole and had pinned the two i and the canoe under water flow is like 5mph and took a day and a half to get them freed up by making a cofferdam ? So I'm a little sensitive when it to saftey and and strainer effect

River Kings actually, I was probably way too critical. I find your video presentations to be really helpful. My last kayak trip was my first. 8 miles. Lost my paddle, hat, and cooler after capsizing twice. Had to paddle by hand the last 3 miles. I’ll be better prepared next time. I have a dry bag, a paddle leash, and floaties for my specs. I’m sure I’ll actually learn quite a bit from your videos. I thank you for doing this.
