    I’m a 3rd year student studying mechanical engineering and I bought a 66 mustang about 2 years ago as a project to put on my resume. The car is a complete project car so I’ve been rebuilding everything. Your videos have been so much help both in deciding what to do and how to do things. I’m getting close to putting the front of my car back together so this video came at a perfect time. Thank you again

    Andy, you are truly a "Damn the Torpedoes" kind of guy...I bought one of these things at Carlisle In Pa this past summer, for $300 bucks. No shipping costs, and I could inspect it, and walk it to my car. In my research, the fittament issues you showed on video, were par for the course. Adding metal reinforcement plates on the backsides of the lower fender mounting points, is a good upgrade, to prevent cracking the apron, for those intend to "drive" our cars. Aggressive trimming that top edge is normal. On the driver's side, a combo of bending-re-contouring that lower fender flange forward. Then trimming the contact portion of the apron to fit and close that gap. Love watching you, 😍 doing what I'll be doing for myself this spring 🌱... Take care pal....

    Yeah, it's too bad these bumpers need so much work to fit the car. I could not find a company that made what I wanted at a reasonable price, so I guess it's up to me to fill in the blanks. I'm hoping my paint guy can help a little, we'll see when it's done. :)

    Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to fit like OEM, but I was hoping for a little better than what I got. But that's based off of nothing, I've never worked with this stuff before, I probably got lucky with how well it fit. :)

    Good job Andy! It is tricky to get everything to fit, and all the bolt holes to line up. There is still one bolt on my 67 that I couldn't get to fit for anything, so I had to leave it. fortunately, it isn't noticeable.

    It's actually pretty close for one of those aftermarket pieces that rarely fit anyway. I little cutting , nips and tucks will match that up with oem stuff nicely. Good work.

    Andy, It looks great. You got a FAR nicer piece than I started with when I did this install a number of months ago.. By the way you just made your car faster in two ways. It looks faster (ha!) - looking more like an R model than before, but the real reason is the weight difference. That R model front valence weighs nothing compared to the hunks of steel you just pulled off.

    Looking good, Andy. Honestly I think you lucked out with that valance. It seems to fit better than most I've seen. They all require some massaging but yours went on pretty uneventfully. I'm staying tuned to see if the mounting plates for your brake ducts are going to plug n' play with your Wilwood brakes. I have the same mod in my sights for later next year. They should fit, but - as usual - I'm going to wait for you to take one for the team before I commit :D

    While it looked relatively painless, this bumper-thing is a PITA. I've had a little time with it since I filmed this and I'm not happy. However, I have nothing to compare it to, so it may be as you said and I got lucky. I intentionally leave out some of the time I spent with making this fit as there's no way to make it entertaining, and nobody wants an hour long video that should really be cut down to less than 10 minutes. For the brake ducts, I'm not sure what to do here yet as they are right in front of the core support. There's not much room between the end of the duct and the car, so the ducting would likely take a 90 degree turn immediately behind the bumper, and I'm not sure if it'll all fit anyway. Unfortunately I won't tackle that until I get the car back from paint. :)

    @@AndyKruseChannel I remember reading an interview with one of the surviving Shelby OVC and he said even back in the day the hoods and the other fiberglass parts for the R models were a PITA to fit. That's just the nature of fiberglass. I know from working in a boat factory that the molds and jigs used for forming parts start to deform after a while, and before you know it you're producing parts that are inches off compared to parts made at the beginning of the production run.

    "Previous Owner Welded that stud in place..." You are giving him a lot of credit calling that a weld 😂 The bumper looks great on the car. It's a nice upgrade. Are you replacing the fenders too or going to make them work? The drivers side one where they meet didn't look right. Maybe it is just me.

  • @AndyKruseChannel

    @AndyKruseChannel

    Yeah, compared to my welds, what he has was a weld. :) No, keeping the fenders that are there. The fitment of the passenger fender is decent, but the driver fender fitment is not great, but it's what I got to work with. :)

    Before installing everything back, I would have painted everything black to cover the white paint over spray also I would have never left those rusted screws in there. I am more meticulous when I work on my stang. I understand, you'll never see the white paint over spray but I know it's there and it would bother me just knowing. Take your time and do it right the first time. You said you don't want a show quality car but you also don't want sloppy work. Sorry Andy.
