Installing a 6.4 SRT Hemi in my Jeep Wrangler!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Full Parts List: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
Its time to install the 6.4 SRT engine into my Jeep Wrangler!!
I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that ive owned for multiple years, it came with the 3.8L engine. The engine has held up well over time, however once i added one ton axles and 40s.... I was on the quest for more power. And 485Hp should sure solve that!
In the first video of the Jeep Hemi swap video series we took a look at what engines/trans and years to pick from. I am using the 6.4L (392) LX (car based) hemi, and pairing it with a 8HP70 8 speed transmission from a dodge 1500.
Almost everything i am doing in this series will be the same as a 5.7 VVT Hemi swap as well. The 5.7 is cheaper, and easier to find used. It still puts out a ton of power, and you could always throw a cam in it to bump up the HP.
Jeep Wranglers are a lot of fun with V8 swaps! But paying a shop is not.... This swap will not be cheap, however we can save thousands by doing this at home (and at your own pace and budget).
The LS swap is another option, however to retain all factory Jeep controls it can be just as expensive as a 5.7 swap, and requires the use of a lot of Canbus adapters which can fail over time.
Its time to remove the old Jeep engine and start up the modifications needed to fit this big Hemi in the Wrangler! We have to remove the factory battery tray, move the steering mount in the firewall over, remove the old power steering reservoir, and well... Thats about it!
The 8HP70 (8 speed) is a game changer! A hemi with a 5 speed is already great, but 3 extra gears makes it even better! This is something i would highly recommend to anyone that had a 3.8. If you currently have the 3.6 with auto trans, you can always reuse your NAG1 trans with a new bellhousing and Torque convertor- the choice is yours!
I am using parts from Jeep Speed Shop. They are a small company in CA, specializing in hemi swaps. Todd, the owner is very knowledgeable of these swaps, and makes really great parts.
They can be hard to get a hold of... They operate on only a few employees so be patient if you leave him a message or text.
Jeep speed shop (JSS) has a few build of material lists (BOM) on the website if you are wondering what all parts you need. I will include the link below.
Parts:
Engine Leveler (You will need one): amzn.to/3qjmKMh

3/4x16 Tap: amzn.to/3plFpWB
Exhaust Manifold Right: amzn.to/2N874x0

Another way to keep from getting metal shavings from the tap down in there is to put wheel bearing grease on your tap. It will keep the tap lubricated but the metal will stick to the grease
