One thing with healthy natural water sources is that the fresh water keeps flowing in and the old rocks and soil carrying the beneficial bacteria stays in place. Without doing much cleaning, may be an occasional wipe of the front glass for viewing until the tank settles and one gets hang of the amount of light hours needed, just by water change and a little siphoning of excess dirt(not all of it), the tank can be maintained beautifully.

I'm super new to this hobby (don't even have a tank yet, been spending the last 2 months reading and learning). So far father fish's philosophy, and others like him, are able to keep the healthiest, cleanest, most natural looking tanks. I haven't seen a lot of the people from "the other side" but to me, if you want to keep fish, what better way to do it than to create an environment for them which is most like the environment that species has been living in happily for millions of years?

I completely agree with everything you said in this video and that’s why I think you have a great following. A lot of us want to make things easier in our fish rooms and have them look like a slice of nature instead of a fake looking glass box. I appreciate your vision and you and LRB are the driving forces that inspired me to have the fish room I have today. Keep being you Father Fish😁👍

I did his principles in a saltwater aquarium and noticed a massive difference. Got my salt water and rocks exc out of the Atlantic sea off the coast of New Brunswick Canada. Went really well. I even had a crab develop in there that must have come from an egg and i haven't had any aptasia anenome since. I was terrified it would eat my fish and corals and its now about a inch and everything is still doing fine. I did have a massive seaweed die off from the seaweed I collected from the Atlantic coast so I brought macro algea. I just had a power cut for 28 hours in which it got below 18 degrees and I lost 1 fish my little yellow clown fish goby so I'm calling it a win! I think the macro algea and bacteria kept it oxygenated.

Thanks a lot. I started my first natural aquarium. The fish are behaving more natural. I Europe you can use tera petra components. But I did it just from nature. Only a small filter, mud from the river and an old pond, leaves, plants and some fish. A cheap led panel is working fine. I have good experience with led panel, you use for offices etc.. I bought playground sand... I also planted some plant which are out of the water. ..... I love the idea and after 4 weeks my first fishes spawned ...
