What made that white lady talking Juve was that she was June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver, about the whitest show on TV. For her to know jive was hilarious. Jive talking in the 1970s meant that you were lying. Hence the second phrase of “your telling me lies, yeah.”

You’ve only reacted to 8 songs out of 1000!!! Please add MORE THAN A WOMAN, LOVE YOU INSIDE OUT, and TO LOVE SOMEBODY to the top of your Bee Gees list and PLEASE don’t make us wait so long before the next Bee Gees reaction. Yes, you are right, they aren’t typical. They are all supposed to have perfect pitch, so can naturally sing and play, but Barry especially has this musically gifted brain for pulling songs out of the heavens, in any genre, can custom write with the simplest of inspiration. They grew up around music, and Barry would pretend to be sick so he could stay home and listen to his mother sing while she did the laundry she took in. When they got a tv when he was 8 and he saw someone entertaining the audience, he declared that was what he was going to do. Shortly afterwards he told the 5 year old twins he was going to be a pop star, and they asked if they could be pop stars, too. He just knew at 8 years old and started rehearsing, writing songs, and looking for anyone he could find to sing to. Worked passionately to make the dream come true, and to make sure the world would know he had been here. Interesting to think that he was only given 20 minutes to live when he pulled a tea pot of just boiled water over onto himself as a toddler, and hardly spoke before 4 or 5 years old. But his mom said he always had a song for anyone who asked! You should react to BEE GEES 1960 to see the earliest video of them performing live on Australian tv at ages 13 and 10. (They’re British, but parents immigrated to Aus. to keep them out of reform school.)

Barry started writing the song like Jive Dancing. "Dance with your eyes." A producer told him jiving is like lying or BSing. The beginning of the song sounds like the bridge they drove on the way to their studio.

If you want to watch some more Bee Gees performances, you might want to check out their TV performances from the 1960s, particularly from 1967 onward. You can react to their TV performances for their songs, "To Love Somebody", "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart?", and ""I Started A Joke". The Bee Gees' TV performances prior to 1967 were from a time when they were a "boy band" in Australia. Their best performance during that time period, was their 1963 cover of the Bob Dylan song, ""Blowing In The Wind". All of these performances are available for viewing here on KZread.

‘More Than A Woman’ is another amazing song of theirs you should listen to. And for heavens sake listen to some of their baby brother Andy Gibb. He had a solo career with some great songs. Shadow Dancing, Don’t Throw it Away, I Just Want To Be Your everything are just a few. Loved Andy.

This was one of my favorites since I was 9 yrs old. Maurice's bass playing skills are so smooth & funky, you can't sit still. You just gotta start movin' & groovin', even if it's only chair dancing, that's ok too! I'm glad you finally got to this one, we've been waiting awhile for it. :-) Try some of their later music... One (1989) and Alone (1997) were big chart toppers and two more of my favorite Bee Gees songs.
