Can we just talk about Maurice's great bassline in this song? Yeah the brothers Gibb were beyond talented. They could go into a studio in the morning and come out with five songs by the afternoon. They wrote and performed most of the songs in one of the best selling albums of all time, "Saturday Night Fever" for the movie, "Saturday Night Fever" - really good movie, by the way. Their documentary is excellent too, giving you their whole musical history.

Agreed. It’s my favorite part of the song. He’s walkin’ it with style. Beat and rhythm = Banger
If you can listen to this and not move you might just be dead. Loved it ever since it came out (yes I'm that old! 😊).

I’m ‘that old’ too and apparently I am not dead yet cuz I was chair dancing right with this young man. 😆😆 The BeeGees destroy any sense of age appropriate behavior that I have left…if it’s playing, I’m singing.

To think this song was born from the clacking sound of their car driving over a bridge everyday to and from the studio.
Performing together since Barry was 9 and the twins were 6. You really get it. Great to see another young person discover them. Wrote all their own songs and for others too. You Win Again, You should be dancing, Night Fever, Nights on Broadway...so many!

Great Reaction. And you’re right about their music. I grew up with them. They were amazing. They had a brother too. Andy Gibb. He died at a young age but had a few hits I loved. Thanks for bringing it all back for me.

Barry is the only one left.
Love seeing the younger generation enjoying our old folks music!! Lololol 😅
Bee gees .....you should be dancing .....with all four brothers
The Bee Gees made music together spanning 6 decades. They’re from the UK but immigrated to Australia with their family in the late 50s and began performing together as children. They moved back to the UK in 1967 to be part of the British explosion and had their first top 10 hit, New York Mining Disaster, within 6 months of their arrival. Some of their other great songs from that era are To Love Somebody, Massachusetts, and I Started a Joke. Other disco era songs you should check out are Nights on Broadway, You Should Be Dancing, and Tragedy. Happy listening! ✌🏼

Technically they aren't from the U.K. they were born on the Isle of man. a small island in between Ireland and England and not part of the United Kingdom. they did move to Manchester (Chorlton) a few miles from where I grew up, but were advised by the police to take move to Australia to keep them out of trouble.
That rhythm came from driving across a bridge in Miami from Criteria studios to where they were staying while recording.
Great reaction!!! Old man opinion, the music of today is only about the Money and the love of the art no longer exists!
"Leaving me lookin like a dumb- struck fool"! One of my fave lines ever! 🤣
The GOATS... pure raw talent.. no dubbing
I love hearing the Bee Gees. I think they're absolutely amazing. Thank you.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love the Bee Gees, they were around when, I was in my teens
Love your reactions!!🎼Since you're only on their 3rd song & "it's getting you" every time....you've still got 997 more to go🤣!! The lyrics you were trying to catch...."dumbstruck fool"!
The 70's was when I was groin up. Disco, motown, slow rock was where it was at for a lot of us. Polyester leisure suits, butterfly collar shirts and platform shoes haha. Hot days in those clothes was NO fun!

My Dad told me a story about his coworker that came into work one day wearing a polyester shirt. You know the kind with the big collar and the puffy sleeves back in the day. Well he worked at the steel plant, he was standing in front of furnace door and it was lifted open. All you could hear was Floof!! There was nothing left of his shirt but cuffs and the collar rofl. Good thing he was wearing wool underneath.
You're right. It was a different world back then. No negativity, just love songs all the way. Try Don't Fall in Love with Me, you win again, For Whom the Bell tolls

I must be dancing ! Lol Love the Bee Gees ! They always made such a great dance beat! Great reaction! Thanks 🎶🎶🎶
bee gees more than a woman
Nights on Broadway 🔥 do the Midnight Special video 🔥
OMG...this takes me back to summers at the pool when I was a pre-teen!!! We always blasted this song on the jukebox......YES.....we had a jukebox at the pool!! Of course...this was back in the 70's when we still had nice stuff out in public...LOL!!
I do housework to the Bee Gees. I do yardwork to the Bee Gees. I do grocery shopping to the Bee Gees. I watch reaction videos about the Bee Gees. They never hit a sour note, could sing the same song over and over exactly the same way, always in tune.
Can you believe these cats wrote over 1,000 songs?
Grew up listening to these wonderful brothers. The Bee Gees, like the Jackson 5 started singing when they were very young so they had been singing nearly 20 years when this came out. If you want something a bit different from them, try "CLOSER THAN CLOSE" with Maurice Gibb as lead. Also, they had a younger brother named Andy who had a successful solo career. His songs include "LOVE is THICKER THAN WATER", "I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING", and "SHADOW DANCING". RIP Andy, Maurice, and Robin. Barry Gibb is the only survivor of the amazing "Brothers Gibb".
The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb were ALL brothers and of the few, if only, who embraced funk, soul and R&B and we're successful for it. So, no matter a person's skin color, you've got to appreciate their mark on the World and no matter the listeners of their music, their music goes past color. Exhibit A.
Great reaction will you react to “Fanny be tender with my love “ soon 😃
Real music!! Loved it!! As usual.. they never disappoint! Thanks for another great reaction!! I love to watch you enjoy some old school!!!
I was 5 or 6 years old when this song came out. Remember going to my cousin’s house (she was a couple years older than me). She had this record,,,yes, the actual 45. She, and I and my sister, who is 1 year younger than me, listened to this song over and over. Good times and good memories!
Yes, so much agree that the subjects tackled in the 70s music were relevant then AND now more than ever. Love your reactions!
Hey Greg, Great reaction! This whole LP is good. This is when their producer hinted to Barry Gibb to "scream on key". "Nights On Broadway" made it evident. You'll like that one! And, hey, thank you. Vlogging isn't easy, I've heard that youtube can be very tough to deal with, so i think i speak for many when I say thank you back to you. You're showing respect to our childhood memories! Be well, my friend!😎💯%. Mr. Ken
The bass guitar in this is just SO YUMMMMMM
Bee Gees bringing the funk.
Thats why they arent just good. They are Legendary
There stands Mo with his shades on picking out that funky Bass like, I got this man. Thanks.
That's why us old people say the so called music today is trash.
I grew up in the 1970's... Probably the best years of easy listening music.
Love their early music, especially How Do You Mend Broken Heart
Thank you for brightening up my day. Bee gees are so exceptional.
'Nights on Broadway' is my favorite song from BeeGees
Every second every minute, 1971 live
Never gets old. Thanks for reacting. Please take it back a decade and react to TO LOVE SOMEBODY - the black and white tv appearance video.
That bass!! Your right, it takes real talent to put out songs like the groups from the past. No, autotune or other electronic enhancements. Just pure talent!!
This song wast as huge as The Saturday Night Fever dance songs or How deep is your love. These guys were among the kings of Disco
Fun fact, they picked up the sound of driving over a bridge to and from the recording studio to get this beat. That night they wrote this song and put it to that beat. They could literally write a song out of thin air!!
Thanks so much for reacting to my men! Yeah, the name, "BeeGees", stands for "Brothers Gibb". This was the 1st TRUE disco song, & it took the world by storm. YOU see it, bruh - thank you.
Love me some Bee Gees! GREAT reaction!💖
Fun fact: this song's distinctive catchy beat came from when they were driving across a big bridge where the road was divided crossways into segments; they noticed every time the wheels went over the joints between them there was a clicking sound, that created this unusual rhythm. Millions of people must have passed over that bridge before them, but it took a musical genius to notice and turn it into a great song!
Mo on the bass is amazing!!
Check out “ Emotions” by the BG’s - so groovy that Destiny’s Child did a cover with big success. Great reaction to Jive Talking …meaning chatting bullshit , lying 🤥
You Really need to try... Too much heaven from them.... I think it's one of their best.
You gotta do "Love so right " by the Bee Gees! You'll love it!
Too Much Heaven. You will love it. The Bee Gees were great songwriters. Had 5 of the top 10 during their most productive years.
Hi Greg, the Bee Gees were a lot identified with the Disco wave era, because they did amazing music at the end of the 70's, for movies with John travolta, etc; but they did a great evolution in their music and sound, from their beginnings where Disco music was a stage. This is a great song before that. Another band that you may like is the ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) that, at the same time of the Bee Gees, also did great hits like Last Train to London, Don't bring me Down or All Over the World (my favorite). But they also came from a different style which was the progressive experimental rock, with a lot of violins, piano and cellos, and previous beautiful songs. Regards from Chile!

ELO at Wembley Stadium 2017 is a live concert broken down into several videos. Jeff Lynne was like 70 years old but he sounds exactly like he did back in the 1970s. The band is hot, the music is awesome and the videos show a lot of the audience. They are having such a great time.
Love this!! Great reaction and love to see your breakdown of what you hear. This was a great time for music!
You crack me up. Your honest enjoyment of these songs delights me. Thank you, sir.
"You Should Be Dancing" .... Up there with the excellence of "Staying Alive" ..... End of ! 😉👏
love what sounds like cow bell
Bee Gee music is always timeless and seems as if the song was written today :)
No Greg, they aren't thinking like this anymore. Brilliant observation. The creativity of the 70's may never be matched again. This is why music from this era is "sampled" so much by todays musicians. 60's-80's was a musical renaissance. These things happen ever century or two.
Ohhh Barry 😍😍😍
Your comment about writers aren’t writing songs as they were in the 60’s and 70’s is right on. Both the music and the lyrics were very thought out. No just screaming and repeating a phrase over and over. I think that’s why classic rock of the era is still played all over. There were so many great groups. They had to produce great music or they would fade from the charts really fast. One song you might want to listen to is “Elenor Rigby” by the Beatles. Great poetry.
Listen to "Alone" by the Bee Gees. Robin and Barry share lead vocals, and check out "Man In The Middle" which Maurice sings lead on.
Bee Gees, & the Beach Boys gave us music we could relate to. Appreciate the breakdown of the talent of instruments. 🎼 Real 🎶 music! 🎵
Listen to Fannie be tender with my heart ❤️
Heyyyyyyy,. I love this funky brat and this song. I grew up to the Bee Gees. These brothers are Angels.
So many amazing songs! They also wrote many songs for other artists.
Back then everyone was uding the phrases "jive talking" or "jive turkey". Lol.
Another Bee Gee's banger that blew people away! In fact, lots of people REFUSED to believe it was the Bee Gee's when it was first released. Barry got the idea for this song from the rhythm he heard from the tires going over a bridge in Florida twice a day that was next to Criterion Records where they recorded. Originally, it was "Drive Talkin" LOL. It changed to "Jive Talkin", and they meant the dance "Jive". Their producer had to clue them in on what the word "Jive" meant here in the USA - that's when the lyrics changed substantially! 😂
The Bee Gees are awesome. You need to react to Stayin Alive. You will love it! Love your reaction!
They have no bad songs, that simple
Always loved this one!! I think I was 10 or 11 when this came out. 😁 I love your responses!!
You got a huge rabbit hole to go down with these here boys!! Nice reaction!! You killing it bruh 😎
Greg, been watching your reactions. Great work! I’m an old head , I get a kick out of younger generations reactions to the music I grew up on. Can’t go wrong with Bee Gees, who in my opinion are second all time to the GOATs the Beatles
I am so old because I was a teen when ' Jive Talkin ' came out, lol...Great reaction.
So imagine they would have had the same support from radiostations, other medias and music-critizens like Stones, Beatles and many, many more other great groups. That would have set them on the throne of modern music at all. Fact is, they were successful because of their millions of fans. Shame on the others, which dissed them.
Love your comments. Loved Bee Gees.
Maurice is really groovin’ it on the bass.
There it is ! Here's a bunch of requests: Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, CCR, Animals, Motown (any Artist), The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Linda Ronstadt, Heart, Aerosmith, Audioslave, Soundgarden, The Offspring, Warren Zevon, The Who, Wild Cherry, Led Zeppelin, T-Rex, The Sex Pistols, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Doobie Brothers, Ram Jam. There's a few to start
Love this song. The bass is epic.
Best group ever!
To Bee Gees nights on Broadway. A banger
The opening beat comes from the sound that Barry's car tires were making driving across a bridge in New Jersey.
@DianaJG8
2 жыл бұрын
It wasn't New Jersey, Michael. It was a long bridge in Florida outside Criterion Records where they did their recordings everyday. There were "tire ridges" every few feet all along the bridge and whenever the car maintained 35 mph that particular rhythm would happen. 😊
Oh one more I should throw at you one of the best dance songs during the whole'70s music craze is a song called You Should Be Dancing I think you'll love that one I know one thing you'll be tapping your feet moving your body and shaking whatever you can shake.
Thanks for reacting to this song just another great reaction
Maurice killing’ it on the bass!
Good job young person,..so happy to see you checking out this old music,..huh,..and to see you like we did,..hitting the rewind button, again, and again,..and yet again,..huh,..now I believe it was when Will Ferrell was on SNL,..and they did a funny sketch, maybe as a funny nod to 1970's bands,..how many, of them used the cowbell,..its true,..but it always sounded good,..the Bee Gees as you can see, hear, didn't shy away from using it also,..and yess,..the lyrics are very clear,..they didn't call her a tramp, or worse,..but you get the jist with, "jive talk", which back then you know,..and before during the 40's, 50's,..meant double talk, talking out of both sides.of your mouth, as old people use to say,..meaning you lie,..you probably cheat, and try to pull the wool over someone's eyes,(another old saying),..a woman, or person you can't trust,..didn't you love that base,..it's tough ain't it,..do keep going,..such a super group,..part of the change in American culture,..contributed so much to that,..known all over the globe,..check out they're Saturday Night Fever songs,..and from Staying Alive soundtrack,..movie not so good,..but the soundtrack was quite nice,..Tragedy,.To Love Somebody, I Started A Joke,..great band,..all but Barry are gone,.Rip☹, his brothers,..very sad,..but they have a stake in history, always,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
Dude... You have no idea... Keep exploring. It was crazy back then. Pure talent. Write play, and sing. Sheeeeet, you don't that much these days.
