You’re talking about Robin, the other is Maurice pronounced (Morris) . I was 15 when the song came out, living on the south side of Chicago we all assumed they were black , the radio stations never knew because the album cover had drawing of a girl but we soon found out when we tuned into everybody’s favorite concert show ( the midnight special we were pleasantly surprised and we’ve been in love with them since . The phase jive talking was used on a daily basis.

Yes, the one on Barry's right is Robin... the guy with the long blondish hair. He's the one who sings I Started a Joke. Robin and Maurice are fraternal twins.

Now, Fanny Be Tender is next. Lovely song. Then their best song of all, Nights on Broadway. That's my favorite BeeGee's song. "I will wait, even if takes forever, I will wait, even if it takes a lifetime." A beautiful love song of the highest quality.

This is a track not live . artists did it a lot in the 70s. Its the fade out that gives it away usually

I love how Maurice plays a bass guitar for the video, when it's actually a bass synthesizer being played by the blond guy, but who knew what a synthesizer was back then.

Main Course, their comeback album that put them on the American charts after 5 years. The rhythm for the song came from when Barry would drive over the bridges in Miami.

They wrote their songs as well as songs for other artists.

The word "jive" goes ack to the 1930''s when people like Cab Calloway would "jump and jive". It means a lot of things over the years. Being cool, dancing cool, fast talking, fast moving, etc. For this song I think it can best be described as "B.S." Someone who is always using words and phrases that are temporarily popular, the latest "jive". And the answer below mine is a great one.

Sweet! One of my favorites from them. Takes me back to playing the Saturday Night Fever record as a kid back when. The skateboards back then were crude compared with those available today. For a short while I even had one with metal wheels like a really really old pair of roller skates. It sucked.

I worked as a roller skate monitor in Southern California on the beach in 1979 (fun job on skates). There was a cool black guy who had roller skates with metal wheels. He rocked them!!!!!!! So good. Great clacky sound! He worked it! He made those skates extremely cool. The big song then was by Peaches and Herb: "Reunited."

Omg Tina Longfellow lol ..,firstly it was a black saying back then and in the interview Maurice was telling the story of them writing the song but by them being from Australia didn’t know what jive talking meant they thought jive talking meant dancing ( it did like in the 40’s) theirTurkish producer explained it was a black expression for people talking bullshit they would even call each other a jive turkey .

I was a teen back in the 1970's. Jive Talking fell under a couple of descriptions....all of it having to do with exaggeration of the facts or making up over-the-top-lies. Examples: exaggeration Or just making everything in one's life sound more spectacular than what it really was, and doing in a grandiose way -- such as saying you were wearing a Rolex watch when it was just a knock off.
