What I've learned from watching many hours and channels on rider incidents is that the majority of close calls and accidents are caused by poor riding and big egos.

80% of the time, the rider is travelling too fast for the conditions. This is why you always see them swerve to avoid a car when simply rolling off the throttle would've been adequate had they simply been going the limit.

5:30 100% the biker’s fault and not the driver’s fault here. There’s enough road between the bike and the car for a plane to take off so of course the car will pull out, but he didn’t slow down at all until it was too late so that’s the biker’s issue.

Second rider is going 70 in a 45. Yellow duration is typically timed to the speed limit to take into account average speed and reaction time, so if you're going at the speed limit or +-5 mph you'll be able to stop in time on a yellow. Remember that next time.

Going into my 3rd riding season, but I was watching Dan for 2-3 years before I got my current bike. Clip that starts about 5 mins in, that SUV had plenty of room and did nothing wrong pulling into traffic. The biker was more than likely speeding and did nothing until it was almost too late. His anger is misplaced and if anything he should be angry with himself.

Facts that was Me for yrs grew up reaching dirt bikes pops said quads was ghey so dodged a bullet there lol.frfr when you do make the switch the transfer over is so easy. But anytime you can hit a back road nobody really uses practice the hell outta stopping, I had my moto license for over a year and would still do that drill. Kinda became fun and I used that one evening when a dear hopped out in front of me. At 55 I was able to slow my self completely to the point I could either stop or swerve cause that deer did not move. Def was happy for those drills I'd do. And only reason I say back road is cause parking lots my not have the same surface your going to be stopping on when your on the road, nothing wrong with the lot I just found back roads easier to find by me instead of a lot.

Thank you Dan for these videos. I have learned so much over the past year since I started watching them and continue to learn more with each video. I am still a fairly new rider with only one riding season under my belt. I have considered getting an action camera to start documenting my rides and after a situation I had yesterday I wish I already had one. I was riding on a gravel road (Honda Shadow Spirit VT750 with Metzler 888 tires) and was going a touch too fast. Realized I wasn't going to make the turn and started drifting towards the shoulder. I managed to keep the bike upright and was eventually able to throttle out of the situation, but looking back I feel like with more experience I could have done better and not gone to the shoulder at all. Anyway, keep up the good work with these videos. The information that you provide to new riders like me is invaluable and help us to become safer / better riders every day.

No way can anyone think at 5:30 that the car is at fault, the car had so much of a clear view that its reasonable for him to go. With the 650 too, the engine braking is immaculate and like you said, he never tried to stop. On mine, I can go from 50 to ~35 in a few seconds without any braking. Poor decisions by the biker throughout the full clip.

Being a bit harsh, aren't we? If people lost their license every time they messed up then nobody would ever make it past the beginner level. Maybe you haven't done this specifically, but anyone who says they've never made stupid mistakes is lying. It's easy to judge the woulda-coulda-shoulda's after the fact, but emergencies don't exactly afford a lot of time for thinking so we don't always make the best decisions in the moment.

😂 yes. Needs to get on a grom or navi. That's just piss poor understanding of a two wheeled machine.

It probably wouldn’t be a good question asking who the president is now.

You could ask most of the world who the current POTUS is and get the right answer, you couldn't ask americans about any other countries leader 😂😂😂

I have heard you say this so many times and I need to say something. Tourniquet is a French word and the correct pronunciation is [tornakay] NOT [tornakett]. Saying it like tornakett isn't American English it's just wrong!
