Iceman build - Day 34
Музыка
Here is a video from day 34 of Rob's Iceman build.
Today started with masking the off the binding in preparation for the needed touch-up work. Once that was done, the minor touch-ups were completed and allowed to dry before removing the masking. Then, I set the depth with the brass handle using an existing piece of binding as a gauge. This allowed me to concentrate on the scraping without the fear of gouging up the paint again. Once the scraping was completed, I scuffed the complete body and then prepped the body for what would be the 1st of 2 coats (sprayed today). After allowing flash time, I sprayed out a heavier 2nd coat.
The neck was also scuffed and cleaned for the clearcoat, but I noticed some lighter spots were showing through. So I sprayed out a bit more black paint to the headstock. That was allowed to dry then it was scuffed and cleaned once again. I experimented with using a paint marker to apply a model number to the headstock, but that was not a hit and was removed with some lacquer thinner and a rag. That was then scuffed and cleaned. Then the 1st of 2 coats were sprayed out. Like the body, after the flash time, a 2nd coat was sprayed out.
With two coats of clear now curing. Tomorrow I will do some light wet sanding and spray out the remaining clear (approx 1 pint left)
Stay tuned ... more to come !!

My first real guitar was an IC50 which I bought in Marysville, Wa at Cascade Music for $419. Beat the hell out of that thing for about ten years and then traded it to my bass player for a Kahler trem. Talk about a Doh! moment.
