If u want a finess version of that bait look at the rapala ssr7. Same design minus the back fin but still a killer lure

@@Oldbasshole lol. I'm sure there are, some are entertaining. I like local ones because can relate. There's also realistic fishing 😂. In TN but no bullshit and won't take a sponsor, even fishes bluegill in off times, and lot of giveaways lol. Recovering from surgery KZread and some gunsmithing passes time, even learned locksmithing and picking lol.

Looks like the harbor fish are healthy and haven’t spawned yet going to try and get up there 1st wk of June . Love the hunter took it to Florida in February and wacked them on it, fish were still staging in the grass. Keep up the good vids .

curious what your thoughts on the Super Shad Rap are for big bass. Its got the hybrid hunter bill but its more like a glide bait size

My pb of 7.1 came on the chrome/blue back hybrid hunter in 3 feet of water on dec. 31st year before last.

I fish around grass about 90% of the time, and this is definitely one of my go to baits. Not only does it come through grass better than most other baits, it just seems to catch quality fish.

I first looked at this bait and said it'll never make it through the log jams I fish. I fish a lot of lakes from the bank so I'm leary of using diving baits with sticky hooks. Then I prefer most of my crankbaits to be silent. I just have more catches come from the silent versions. I guess I should give the hybrid hunter a try. A couple of my fishing friends swear by them.

I’ve stayed away from this bait mostly because my lakes are 90% rock a few brush piles here and there and only time we have grass or buck brush is when the lake is full normally from June-October but now I’ll need to give it a try on rock

Just curious. Did you do the filming of this video at Indian Lake in Ohio? I lived in Ohio all my life until I retired from Honda in 2016. Been on Indian lake thousands of times. It sure looks like Indian inthr videos. I live at Kentucky lake now. Haven't fished the hybrid hunter yet. Just bought a couple of the full sized ones at Kentucky lake outdoors. But they didn't have the Junior model. However, I recently started practicing on old lured doing my own custom patterns. I just received a dozen knock off blanks I plan to paint some in the red Craw patterns and some In a dirty shad pattern.

Have you fished the "Prank" by Booyah? I had the same experience with that one! Something about being a few inches deep over the tops of the grass and the bass just jump up out of nowhere and nail it!!!

I have a few of the jrs but none of the shallow ones yet. Pretty decent lure tho.

I’ve been waiting to try these at Portage Lakes and Nimisila Reservoir.

When you can see the fish attack the lure that’s sometimes a bad thing. I would have caught my PB (maybe) the other day on a chatter bait but I saw him attack the bait and my body just reacted. I pulled it away from him. Missed him.

Same exact thing for me about a week ago. Bank fishing and SHE was in 2' of water right in front of me. Probably 9 pounds!!! I'm still sick over it.

I have one of these... and I agree. I like it rippin rocks and around structure much better than the grass.

I recently got one. Trying to build confident on it. So far didn't catch any fish yet.

I've got a couple, but haven't had the opportunity to fish it. Good stuff.

I had never purchased one. Took me two trips to figure out how to trigger bites . Yes you can cast and real. But there is much more to the bait than that. Thanks it is a bad mamma jamma that will definitely catch tournament sized fish.

Hybrid Hunter Jr is one of my confidence baits. Caught more on it last year than any other crankbait

I throw a gold hybrid jr as an alternative to a gold spoon inshore fishing. Love it

i’ve been slaying with the hybrid hunter for the last two years. i love it.

I have several Hybrid Hunters. I bought them because all the lakes I fish here in the deep south are choked with grass and vegetation. Well, they don't come through grass and vegetation any better or any differently than any other lipped bait in my arsenal. It still is covered in gobs of slop and gunk after every retrieve. So if that's why you are buying one, be prepared to be disappointed. Stick to a chatterbait or a swim jig. That being said - it does offer a different profile and a different wobble in the water. I have caught some nice fish on these baits. But I just can't throw it anywhere near grass. I have no idea who thought that should be the selling point. Fish the edges of grass or *around* the outside of some laydowns and you will be okay. Otherwise you will get hung up and lose these baits. It's a squarebill with a bent bill. Fish it like a squarebill with a bent bill.

Southeast Louisiana and I fish in the grass all the time as in 5-7 days a week and have no problem with it in the grass but that’s grass not slop and cheese and you just adjust the cranking speed for the depth you are looking for it to just tick off the top of the grass now it will run eelgrass extremely awesome but I down sized the hooks and put extra short shank also and it’s a bad mama jamma in there after that so give that a try brother

@@brianpierson7708 Yeah, I'm not talking an occasional grass clump here or there or a weed line. I'm talking someone grew their yard out for 10 years and then flooded it with 5 ft of water. If I have to do all that, I'll just fish other baits. I have success on swim jigs and chatterbaits. Like I said, the hybrid hunter is a good bait and catches fish, but it is not as good in grass as they would have you believe.

Is that the 1/2 oz size?

Watch some you tube vidios on pros throwing crank baits u can learn wat it took me all my life to learn,right rod line reel an gear ration buy something in your price range simler,been cranking since I was a kid ,61yro now,I allways have several crank baits on deck ,u missing out if u don't crank

What are some good lakes to go to in Ohio. I’m in the Cincy area.

I ordered these baits last fall, and havent even used them yet. After seeing this video, I cant wait to get out and throw them.

Have you used the 6th sense swank if so what is the difference in the hybrid hunter to the swank crank bait ( swank is a L bill aswell)

Both are great reels especially when it comes to casting/skipping...however with the Bruin ELS...I have a lot more control over the spool with the 80pts of braking...

Todd Castledine designed it. He's a pretty good angler in his own right.

Have you tried the 6th Sense Swank which has a similar bill design? If you have how does it compare to the hybrid hunter?

It's not as good. They modeled it after the original model that the HH now is made from

FYI, don’t by the 15lb spider wire braid. It’s terrible. Snaps on cast. I’ve lost 3 lures in one day.

Thanks for the info.. I used to use Power Pro, then switched to J-X8 braid used for 3 years now using Berkley 9. So far happiest with Berkley 9 braid.. Thinnest of all braids and very tough and durable!!

I think I got something similar to this in a monthly tackle box and hung it on my “probably won’t use this wall”… oops.

Mach swim bait nice too

I have had the same experience with these and has become my favorite crankbait, I haven't found anything you can't fish with it! Lay downs are a blast to fish with the Hybrid Hunter, however the majority of mine are the Jr. Models!

Ever since it came out I always have one tied on. Its truly an unbelievable bait.
