So I’m assuming you didn’t see the monkey man. Think about it. Completely unprovoked and with no explanation, a man with a face eerily similar to that of a monkey appeared this chapter. Isayama is leaving it up to us, the dedicated fans, to interpret and decode what exactly that means. It’s subtle, but in the end, we finally got what our hearts yearned for

Its fine. No one really has a clear idea what the author envisions. It feels like Isayama is drifting towards the 'everyone dies' leak that occurred quite a few years ago. I don't know how he is going to wrap up the story in one chapter (unless its a double issue), but all I can say that it's been a good 8 years since I started reading the manga and what a roller coaster it has been.

And, in my opinion, although isayama will most definitely not do this, it would make for a very interesting sequel series if the world finds out about the reincarnated eren and the people of the island have to figure out what to do with him as the world bears back down on Paradis, scared of the child even though he's not the same eren that committed mass genocide. Just speculation

Mikasas “dream” wasnt her dream tho. It was a reality that occured but eren was unsatisfied with that outcome that he chose bc he thought it was selfish, so he reset the 2000 year timeline hence the “from you in 2000 years” and “to you in 2000 years”. In the beginning of the manga mikasa goes “see you later eren” and he wakes up crying because he lived that reality that hes living rn except in the past reality he ran away with mikasa and in the current one he didnt do that and went through with the rumbling. It wasn’t mikasas dream, it was erens past reality.

It is possible also the one's changing the timeline is mikasa, which the outcome never changes no matter what, eren will die. Even so, she is willing to reset everything just to be with Eren. Watch Lost girls on Mikasa's part where she found Armin blaming himself for eren's death and there's plenty other blue butterfly scenes she had where she says something about 'starting from zero.' Those scenes just suggests the timeline keeps changing. And Mikasa's headaches is kind of a giveaway; any fictional character that can 'time travel' have those in common.. Plus on the recent chapter where Mikasa saw an alternate, brief memory of what could've happened if she replied Eren what he is to her "a lover" (instead of family), they live together knowing Eren will die in 4 years and she went through that, I believe she resetted it once again because when Eren told her to forget about him throw the scarf away, but she still keeps it and never forgets about him; leading Mikasa still resisting to accept his fate. The current timeline is the ultimate one that she has ever chosen, which costs the rumbling until she finally kills Eren herself; shows his fate is indeed unchangable.. a bittersweet ending. But yeah, But it's just a theory and I hope you like my TEDtalk. (edit) The only thing is if this is an 'Ackerman' thing, then Levi would have something in up his sleeves aswell, which he doesn't so it isn't really consistent so yea just a theory

I don't think it was a real AU bc if Eren didn't go to paths with zeke a year after the failed confession, he wouldn't have convince his father to steal the founding so he wouldn't have that power and both of them (Eren and Mikasa) would have died with Hannes

It was enjoyable and unexpected. In my opinion

I was pretty happy when mikasa kissed eren finally and i didnt know when to cry tears of joy or sadness. I just ended up crying tears of sadness because of how bittersweet this chapter was and they just finally kissed.

Isayama: I will keep moving forward

I just love that I have no idea what to expect from the last chapter. I thought the story was getting predictable with the endgame chapters, but 138 blew my mind

I still think at this point we shouldn't be acting like eren is dead or not, there is still one more issue left, eren could kill everyone, or eren could be dead, we just have to wait and see.

The way I see it, isayama knows how to kill a character for something more than shock value. For example let’s use the dog shit mess that was the last of us 2, they killed Joel purely for shock which ruined the story, now imagine if gabi blew erens head off and he just died, that literally exactly what watchdogs did. Anyone who is mad at a character dying in aot just doesn’t care for the story frankly.

Chapter 137 Armins pov Chapter 138 Mikasa pov Chapter 139 Erin/ymir/historia pov Now for my chapter 139 theory so let's start with chapter 130 when eren told historia about his plan to save paradis island at first she was against it but I think eren might have told her everything about the other timeline where eren and mikasa abandoned paradise island to live with each other for the remainder of erens last 4 years and due to that paradise island was destroyed and everyone they knew died so that's when tells her that the only way to save paradis island is to do the rumbling and kill everyone on outside of the island and she says what would you think about me having a child and that child is the key to erens plan to succeed and that's also why she looks so depressed in chapter 107. Now imagine if ymir actually transferred erens conscious and the titan powers which eren had to historia baby before mikasa chopped his head off and with the baby being royal blood as well as historia holding the baby they can access the paths realm that's why ymir is smiling in doing so the rumbling will continue with two objectives and that is to destroy the rest of humanity outside of paradise island at to also destroy the hallucigenia which if he succeeds in doing both will secure the safety of paradise island as well as getting rid of the titans as well as the curse of ymir which will also save armin and mikasa and some other main/side characters. Don't forget that kid eren was also in the paths realm with adult eren as the head so what I'm thinking is that eren is connecting the other timeline with this timeline in doing so he will make 1 exact timeline where he succeeds in his plan kind of like dr strange finding that one exact timeline so when mikasa chopped erens head off adult eren reincarnates as historia baby and kid eren wakes up below the dream but this time with the memories of where he succeeds this time in actually breaking the loop of if it is a time loop theory. as for the rest of chapter 139 it could be a epilogue of a what happened after everything what went down as well as a time skip and I think that's what he showed grisha memories way further ahead of the rumbling and that's why he gave him the attack and founding titan. So that is my theory for chapter 139 gonna be interesting reading peoples comments on what they think about this
