    @@versaii5519 It’s better than dying like fodder tbh, I mean, Eren’s no different from any normal soldier. He worked his ass off to do decent in his class-he just happened to find out he has Titan powers along the way, and he didn’t understand them any better than anyone else. And considering the responsibility he has, it’s more surprising that he never died as brutally or as easily as any of the soldiers that were WAY more experienced and skilled than him. Tbh since he’s the main character, if the VAST majority of us AoT fans ended up in his place, I 100% know we wouldn’t end up any better than he did lmao (if anything there’s a good chance we’d do way worse) I laugh at memes of Eren getting kidnapped too, but I cringe at the people who unironically rage and slam the guy (cause the only time he deserved it IMO was that one time where he turned into a crybaby with Historia, or when he let his stubbornness and aggressiveness get the better of him early on with how he treated people, but other than that, his failures are pretty understandable and he beats himself up enough about them tbh), cause I think it’s fine for characters to have flaws

    It’s so sad. Eren could’ve become one of the top gigachads of anime/manga but Isayama fucked him over, probably because someone who looked like Chadren screwed his wife. And also, Isayama is a hack and totally 180’d on Eren’s character development and even retconned his own lore.

  • @winterbeast6326

    @@thewanderingstruggler8601 Nah, he just made Eren what he always was, a simple pawn of destiny. In fact it's even confirmed in the last chapter with Mikasa being the "official" main character of the show. In fact if there was anyone who was "stoic" in AOT, it was her. Eren acted as a stoic but really was brought back to reality. He didn't want this, he said it multiple times even. It's because stoicism is actually a pretty bad thing, it's forgetting what makes us human. Basically, it's just that nothing aside values matter. And even those values, if they get transgressed, they don't care at all because they think destiny is a thing so it was just "meant to be". Humans feel things and it's normal. You want to change things and can't accept that they are how they are. If you force yourself to not feel this way, are you even human really? Why do you want to help people? Why do you give so much value to values? It's because it's the human thing to do, as simple as that. When you see someone die, you're sad for them, their families. You need to feel that empathy. But Eren forgot all of that and followed destiny, which once more lead to more and more hate for eternity. Pretty sad ending imo.

    @@winterbeast6326 Changing the theme, morality, message, and MC of the story at the last minute, is called lying to your audience. But since the ending suited the fancy of so many bad AoT fans and EM shippers, it's largely been ignored. This will be seen in future history as a tragic mistake marring the brilliance of a once-beloved masterpiece. And the fact that Isayama retconned his own lore in order to push this false "love wins" ending to a story about freedom, was done in bad faith at most. The attitude and behavior of most fans pushing this as canon has been atrocious. Thankfully, we have more or less genuine ending in AoT no Requiem to fix Isayama's panicked mistake. You do realize he admitted that he changed the ending because he was worried about the popularity of the franchise? He was concerned about the message he was sending out to a growing audience. You stated: "In fact it's even confirmed in the last chapter with Mikasa being the "official" main character of the show." Yes, that would confirm all your biases against Eren, but guess what? Eren IS the main character, and always has been. Isayama never hinted or foreshadowed that Eren wouldn't be the main character or that Mikasa was somehow an important character. What's funny is that not only did he destroy Eren's character development, but he proved the point that Mikasa is nothing but an obsessive incestuous freak interested only in Eren to the point of wasting her entire life trying to gain his attention. Then kissing his decapitated head was ironic beyond words. People really think this is a good ending to her character?? That this is proper and a good message to send to a large audience?? Isayama pushing this as a proper ending is laughable.

    @@winterbeast6326 Yeah but Mikasa should not have been the main character of the show. That was Kodansha because they wanted Mikasa to be the poster girl for sales. They ruined the story. Isayama's original ending was different and Historia's child was definitely Eren'. Isayama wouldn't put all those clues in for no reason he didn't do that before so why at the end. I admit he bottled it and chickened out. SHould have stood his ground and not been a coward. Japan ruining masterpiece stories is common so I'm not surprised. The best way to bring about unity in the world is to have a common enemy, and Eren took on that role and carried the burden of being that uniting factor. I think there could’ve been a better alternative, but the philosophical element of the show is what makes is so great, and I applaud Isayama for his great work.

    Eren got a merciful death , had a proper burial in a place that he likes and he was mourned for many years after his death while others ( including people he killed ) died like pieces of meat .That's another problem I had with the ending . Despite taking the last quarter of the story to portray how Eren was the villain of the story and his ideology was the genocidal result of a merciless world , he was treated like a hero . It contradicts the message of the whole series and is even sympathetic to fucking genocide , and then going on to show how he was very plainly right without any of the moral questions that the earlier chapters had

    That's called a "retcon" or "character assasination". Sometimes authors for some reason change core values and motivations of the characters for some reason. Maybe, just like his own characters (Armin, Mikasa, the rest of Eldia traitors) Isayama just was afraid of the scary word "jenocide" and felt that Eren Have to be not only stopped and defeated, but also degraded, despite non of it making sence in a story and contradicting it.

    Spoilers! I liked the first part to be honest and thought huh this guy seems underrated but then the stoicism part was filled with so many unfunny jokes (in my view, you get it?) Also eren being stoic is false. He rather seems like frustrated and angry(look at the scene with hanji or was it hange? The prison scence) also he seems like he is supressing his emotions look at the scene where you know that girl dies and eren laughs as a comrade dies. Eren became resentful and came to the conclusion this is the only way to be free. To eat or get eaten. Also one stoic priniciple is to be empathic and understand that the wrong doers did wrong unknowingly of what is the right action, so the best action to take if when does you wrong is to be unlike them. Let the past be the past, not saying this fits well to erens situation, but eren does the quite opposite, he is going crazy just to be "free" and causes suffering to everyone who is not a eldia.

  • @umbraaries

    @umbraaries

    3 жыл бұрын

    I agree. (SPOILER ALERT) Eren started off as a fighter for his people, but then he turned into the exact opposite. An edgelord with the philosophically heroic facade of someone who wanted to play God... I understand that many, including Armin (and fans), praise him from what he did ("Thank you for becoming a killer for us"? I think that's what Armin said to him.) since with that the Eldians would somehow negotiate with the rest but... I have to ask..Since he had all this "enlightenment" and "knowledge" and "power" why didn't he prevent this whole war from starting? Why didn't he prevent Ymir Fritz from coming into contact with that parasite so the titans would never been born? With the power to somehow control the past, why didn't he cut the root of evil (AKA prevent the creation of the titans) and only went for the Rumbling? So my guess is that his inner hatred is what subconsciously drove him. All that hatred he stored from the moment his mother died made him obsessed with the idea of a "free" world, a world without enemies (not a peaceful world where everyone could co-exist) and that would only be achieved if there are no one else alive except the Eldians. He would manage to achieve that if guilt and some fragments of his self-awareness didn't morally awake him (Armin said that Eren purposely left their memories unaffected so they could stop him). Concluding, Eren started off as a fighter of the system (like Reiner was a warrior of Marley, Eren was a warrior of Eldia), he grew into a confused juvenile with great power, then evolved into a resentful pessimist who wished to achieve world peace in the wrong way.. and ended as someone who understood his mistakes at the very end and tried to save what he could. He is not a hero, as they say, or a villain either, he is just someone who tried to change the world for the better in the wrong way... An anti-hero maybe? Or an anti-villain..?
