    I think the neckline on your Ingrid looks great! And I think you will like it too after blocking. I also love your shelfs in the background! 😍

    I LOVE the straps for the wedding dress top! I think they're a good width as well, so elegant. Also, for synthetic yarn, I would absolutely recommend crocheting up stuffed animals (you could knit them too, but when I go to make stuffed animals, I always seem to go to crochet instead). I don't mind making throw blankets with synthetic yarn either, especially for blankets I toss on the floor for my nephews when they come over to my house. I just throw them in the washer on cold, and dry them normally with no issues.

    Thank you❤️ I think the width of the straps is growing on me! Yes, I have thought about crocheting stuffed animals with the yarn! Stuffed animals are cute, and I have been wanting to brush up on my crocheting knowledge🥰 A blanket I could just toss on the floor, and that can be heavily played with would also be nice! Thanks for the tips and washing instructions❤️

    Wow! The yarn from Morocco is beautiful! I can't wait to see what you make with it. How about a blanket you can take in the car on your long drives. Maybe stripes or checks. If it gets dirty it is easy to toss in the wash.

    You and your son's matching Eva cardigans are so sweet together. I think you should finish the Carl's cardigan before the Ingrid. That way you half half of the Christening gift set done with a month to go. Wedding dress is looking great!! Piece of advice. After you finish 1 strap, steam block it to see how much it grows so you can adjust accordingly for the second strap. My recommendation for the synthetic yarn is to make a striped blanket with white more than blue stripes and give it to your brother for Christmas. Yes you can wash and dry synthetic yarn in the washer and dryer

    Thank you! I'm so happy we have added another match to our knitwear warderobe❤️ I think you're right about finishing the Carls Cardigan first! It's also smaller = finishes faster, which might give me the motivation I need to pick up stitches for sleeves on the Ingrid Sweater😅🥰 Thanks for the advice on the wedding dress! I don't have a steamer, but I'll wet-block it to see how much it grows/changes! Such a good tip! I really like the idea of making a blanket to give back to my brother!! Thanks for the idea! And for letting me know how to wash it🥰

    That spring green! Today was LYS (Local Yarn Store) day and I went to 2 stores in Tucson, Arizona, USA - I think we have only two stores remaining in town that are open for business. So gratifying to see that the crowds came out to each store. I must have had your gorgeous green in mind because they inspired today's purchases - though just sock yarn this time. I have sweater quantities just waiting for me to learn how to knit cardigans and you are inspiring me anew!

    Your Eva match is so cute! I think the neck of your Ingrid is going to be perfect once the sweater is blocked. I am going to do the same neck on mine as I prefer a chunky crew over the high neck in the pattern. I can highly recommend getting a handheld "travel" steamer. They don't take up much room and are inexpensive (at least here in North America). I use it constantly on my wips to check how stitches relax and the length of the body, sleeves ect. I am always surprised at the magic of a steam block. Sometimes the look of the fabric concerns me. Then a steam and voila - fabric looks beautiful! I still wetblock at the end but the mid-project steaming has been invaluable for me. Your blankets, old and new, look beautiful! Maybe one day when I don't have any room for garments left in the house I'll make one like that 😄 I think the green cardigan will look stunning with a white t-shirt and jeans and your blond hair!

    Thank you so much!! I'm so pleased at having added another knitwear match into our warderobe🥹 I also prefer crew necks over high neck! I think once it's blocked, it's going to be the perfect sweater🤩 I'll look into travel steamers! Thanks for the tip! When I've been to unsure to go on in the past, I've put my stitches on stitchholders and wet blocked it😅 I really recommend knitted blankets, or just knitting for your home in general, makes the items more special, and sometimes it's nice to knit something else than garments! Ooo, yes! I think that would be a really nice look with the green cardigan! I can't wait🥰 Happy knitting!

    @@norwegianknitter I used to do mid-project wet blocks until I found out that steaming gives basically the same results in less than 10 minutes! I sometimes knit with yarns that still have spinning oils on them. For those wet blocking makes more of a difference in the final fabric. I am too obsessed with all the garment/accessories I want to make to dedicate any of my knitting time to blankets or pillows. Eventually I will make something like the sweetshop blanket to get rid of scraps. Maybe for my youngest who loves his knits to take to his college dorm. But he is only 9 so I have time 😂

    Steaming sounds a lot more efficient than wet blocking😅 I'm also really obsessed with garments, but sometimes it's nice to knit something that doesn't have a deadline, blankets, and other things for the house is perfect for that😅 Would be so sweet to give your son a blanket when he leaves for college🥰

    Is it a rule in Norwegian countries that that cannot use Superwash or Synthetic yarn? What kind of yarn does someone in Norwegian countries used if they are allergic to yarn? Cotton and Linen will not keep them yarn. So what options do they have other than wool and alpaca?

  • @norwegianknitter

    @norwegianknitter

    3 ай бұрын

    No, it's not a rule, just personal preference for me that I don't use synthetic yarn. I do use superwash, though. We make quite a lot of fires, inside and outside, and sparks can come flying, It's not considered as safe around fires as synthetic yarn catches fire a lot easier than wool, so it's not recommended for hiking/outdoor clothing here, especially for kids who all of a sudden can get a bit too close to the fire. Also, it's not that normal to be allergic to yarn/wool here, so use of synthetic yarn isn't really a big thing here. I don't know what people use if they can't use wool, I don't really see any yarn options except for wool, alpaca, cotton or linen in yarn stores.

    @@norwegianknitter If I am in the same room and wool and alpaca I end up at the doctor's office. At first, I was new to knitting. My eyes just kept running and sinus kept itching. My doctor said it's hay fever. I was at my age to becoming allergic to Pollen. Then she ask was I using anything new. I said I was knitting. She said with what? I didn't know, so I came home and check. I was using Drops with alpaca and Patons with wool. Allergy test. Horrible. Therefore, I need an alternative to wool and alpaca that is as warm as those two and has the look of those two.

  • @norwegianknitter

    @chesun4579 I'm sorry! Synthetic yarn definitely has its time and place where it works better than wool. It sounds like that's the case for you! I've never met or heard of anyone being allergic to wool/alpaca or found synthetic yarn in a LYS here, so I guess you'd have to order yarn online from other countries if you lived in Norway
